I am lazy and I don’t like to exercise!Needless to say I needed to do something to stop my body deteriorating into old age while I sat at my desk every day making spreadsheets about spreadsheets. Then I was convinced to go to a January Bootcamp by my girlfriend. I was dreading it and guess what There was nothing to worry about!Not only are the classes a progressive mix of HIT, Cardio and weights, ensuring I wasn’t in agony after the first week leaving me not wanting to go back but the elimination diet is great. I was eating reasonably well before the bootcamp so there wasn’t much alteration to my lifestyle. I’ve been eating better and more tasty food than I ever have. Planning ahead is key and is the main effort you have to put in. The classes are structured and the trainers are all very motivational and kind. If you physically cannot do an exercise (I have injuries) you will not be forced or singled out and often there is an alternative exercise. One week to go now and I’m feeling great, stronger and more motivated. I’m looking forward to the final weigh in, i’ve definitely lost some weight and I will be continuing the classes. It's really hard to find a PT that is both friendly and approachable and also know's what the hell they are doing! Christian was training my fiancé for a while and I liked the results on him so much that It convinced me to start training with him as well. He mixes things up so It's never a drag, it's always interesting and the sessions fly by, I'm always surprised when I look at the clock. Although he takes training seriously and has a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of health and fitness, he's laid back and easy to talk to about all sorts of things - from chatting about TV guilty pleasures to wedding plans! As far as PT's go, Christian Vila is pretty damn fabulous. His imagination and ability to read his client's mood and state of mind is very impressive and he tailors and varies the workouts accordingly. It wasn't just Christian's bottomless enthusiasm for fitness or his wealth of knowledge around conditioning, strength and nutrition. For me it was how, every single time I turned up for a session, I'd have a new challenge. I had personal training from CVPT for a couple of years but had to stop as I moved. Itis probably 3 years since I had a session but the motivation he instilled in me continues to this day. Never having been excited by the prospect of any kind of "workout class" it was with trepidation that I let Christian persuade me to go to kettlebells. How wrong I was, a great workout which lets you work as hard as YOU like, and definitely has an effect. Rather than some crazy bunch of masochists it was full of a very mixed bunch that I've got to know well over the months. I think the ratings I have given Christian speak volumes. I've tried various Personal Trainers over the years and I promise you that none of them come close to Christian. <br /><br />At the beginning of the year my confidence in myself and my physique was at an all time low. I’ve never been “overweight” per se but I was certainly the biggest I have ever been predominately due to medical problems but<span id="moreReview135263" class="hide"> partly due to post wedding/honeymoon over-indulging. I didn’t understand why my weight was what it was as I am a Division 1 basketball player. On top of that I’ve always been a gym junkie and always thought I was eating the “right things.” I was very unhappy and stuck in a rut. I knew I had to do something different.<br /><br />I met Christian in January 2010 after I’d been surfing the internet for a new and innovative form of training. I came across Christian’s website and decided to take part in his 1 month Detox Boot camp, which involved a very strict detox coupled with kettlebell training. It was extremely tough but I was beginning to feel better, sleep better and look better. Feeling motivated by the results I was seeing, I signed up to Christian’s kettlebell classes and come April I approached Christian for one on one Personal Training. I have endured 2 to 3 tough kettlebell classes per week and one Personal Training session per week – not one class or session has been the same! Since January I have lost 8% body fat. Not only am I feeling great and more confident but I have a whole new attitude to food and exercise, thanks to Christian. <br /><br />Christian’s knowledge and expertise in the fitness industry (including diet, nutrition and training) is truly on another level. Since I started going to the gym about 20 years ago, I've done quite a few different types of training - heavy weights, circuit training, running, martial arts, aerobics, spinning etc. But having started going to Christian's KettleBells classes in early 2009, nothing comes close in terms of building lean strength and improving core stability. <br /><br />When I was doing weight training in the gym,<span id="moreReview88259" class="hide"> injuring my back was becoming a not uncommon occurrence, but since switching to KettleBells, I haven't had any problems at all, and day to day I can tell the difference in my core strength and stability<br /><br />The other great thing about the classes is that unlike circuits, spinning and others, once you can do the basic moves, there are more advanced moves and techniques that keep you challenged. I was recommended to Christian after suffering from a debilitating back injury which had left me off work for three years and on multiple forms of medication and to be truthful I was very sceptical that he could help me as I had tried numerous forms of rehabilitation and therapies without any success . How wrong I was ! As I said I was sceptical and nervous about starting exercise but my<span id="moreReview87998" class="hide"> concerns were immediately put to rest as Christian had devised a program that took into account my limitations and I was professionally guided through every stage of the program improving to my present level of fitness. Fantastic! CVPT really motivates me to get to the gym. Friendly instructor who knows what he's talking about and explains everything you do so you know what you're doing and why it needs ding that way.
