Chris and his team are absolutely wonderful; he made our wedding transition smoothly through all of the events that accompany an intricate, high stress, high class wedding. Days prior to the big day Chris called us to go over large (order of events and pronunciations) and small details (trinkets to honor people not able to be in present, tiny details on our wedding cake to shout out!), he took the time to hear our personal touches added to the wedding; and took great care to acknowledge them throughout the evening. Despite it being the busiest season for any wedding dj/mc business— Chris was 120% dialed in, professional, on point, and available to us 24/7 and throughout the entire event. He in fact held the door for our chauffeured ride home that evening, and congratulated us again— as Chris was there well after the wedding itself ended and everyone had gone home. Chris is literally amazing. I hired him through a weddingy website, so I didn’t actually talk to him until about a week or two before the wedding. Needless to say, as a bride, that was a bit nerve wracking. But Chris literally made our wedding night. He was funny, charming, and SO easy to talk to... it was like I’d known him for years! Chris played acoustic guitar for our wedding ceremony and deejayed our wedding reception. We cannot say enough great things about our experience. We had two in person meetings prior to our big day. It was so helpful to talk things out with him because we knew nothing about what to plan. Because of all his experience, he was able to provide a lot of good advice. Chris made it very easy to keep in touch with him throughout the whole planning process. Anytime we thought of something I texted him and he always replied promptly. On our wedding day he arrived plenty early to our venue and provided such a sense of calm during what could have been a hectic time. His performance on the acoustic guitar was simply beautiful and elegant. We could not have imagined anything nicer. Chris played a great selection of music during cocktail hour and dinner. We hired Chris to DJ our Block Island beach wedding in September, and he exceeded all of our expectations. From the very first conversation he was easy to work with, easy to talk to, accommodating, and professional. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Play good music! It's that simple. I always try to mix guests requests along with songs I know will keep people dancing.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
High energy but not over-bearing. I feel it's important to be enthusiastic but no to the point of turning someone away. And of course always have a positive attitude with the guests.
What do you love most about your job?
The gratification of watching people enjoy themselves and have a great time.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started as a musician, studying guitar and bass in college. That transitioned into being an entertainer as well as an MC with many different bands. Chris Hamel Productions has been in business for over 14 years.
