I struggled with dental fear for many years. As all nervous patients do I reaserched dentists around the area for a long time before I had the courage to actually book an appointment. I came across Cheslyn Hay Dental and all the team looked nice. I was particulary interested to see Dr Singh, not only after reading he is good at treating nervous patients but looking at the picture on the website may times (bit like a stalker) he seemed to have a warmth in his eyes that made me think he is very calm and understanding. I wasn`t wrong there, although my first appointment was a bit of a disaster thanks to my constant gagging, coughing, swallowing, shaking all exarcebated by my nerves, Dr Singh said something that made it for me really : "I will give you longer appointments to make sure you are OK and don`t feel under pressure"!! I then knew that patients come first and made the effort to attend quite a few appointments after that and indeed I felt less pressure as I knew we had that extra time if needed. The team work is great, all the staff are ensuring that patients have a pleasant and positive experience, from laughing on the phone with lovely Jas from reception about my nerves, talking to Sarah about how we cope with gagging while brushing our teeth, Rebecca trying to hold my hand at an extraction, Megan always asking if I was OK, Dawn being gentle and undersanding, I am immensely grateful that we found you and that you all work so hard to make us comfortable. Thank you so much!Dr Singh: You have always acknowledged and respected my fears and offered reassurance without hesitation. You expressed genuine concern for my comfort, eliminated any unnecessary anxiety by telling me what to expect, and you let me feel in control. You have always been very calm, gentle, patient and comfortable with addressing my fears as they arise which allows me to feel more confident with expressing them openly. Your acts of kindness and compassion have really made a difference to me. You made huge efforts to put me at ease and build my confidence and that sets you apart from other dentists I have encountered. Excellent family dental practice, very welcoming with a pleasant reception area, the staff were friendly and attentive. The patient-dentist relationship was superb, he was very clear in what needed to done and gave excellent advice. Very clean and well kept surgery. For the first time in years I found myself in a position where I had to visit the dentist, I suffer from a pathological fear of dentists due to past experiences. I was instantly put at ease by the very professional staff and the gentleman who dealt with my problem was very caring and sensitive. My fear will probably never go away but I feel confident that the lovely staff at this dentist will continue to help me through.
