We loved our visit. It was Like going back in time. However, you do need to allow time for the Ferry ride to the island and plan around that. We left from Portland which was an 1 1/2 hours to the island. Chebeague Bay was beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. Just what we needed. More...

We spent two nights at this lovely inn. We had requested a room with an en suite bathroom, which also had an incredible view of the water. Be aware when booking that there are rooms with shared bathrooms in the hallway. The food is slightly pricey but delicious, and hey, it's an island and they're the only game in town, so I get it! Loved the communal living room and fireplace, a perfect place to read and relax after exploring the island. Highly recommend borrowing their bikes to check it all out - their staff are wonderful and gave us a map to follow. It's a gorgeous Maine camp - so do not expect anything luxuriously modern and pristine, but if you're into quiet, rustic Victorian inns, do it! More...

Can't say enough good things about the inn and staff. From the moment we were kindly picked up from the ferry the service was top-rate. The staff was extremely helpful with recommending activities around the island and highlighting routes, and was understanding and patient when we were a bit late checking out after having been out bicycling. The rooms were immaculate and the staff even upgraded our room for no extra cost on the second night of our stay. This is the perfect place to spend a relaxing weekend. Thank you all for making this a special weekend for us. More...

My wife and I were there this evening for a dinner date. We arrived by the Casco Bay Ferry. Upon arrival the Inn had a waiting shuttle that took us at no additional expense. Once we arrived we explained to the front desk about our desire to eat there and the time constrains we had for the ferry off the island. They went above and beyond communicating with the wait staff and the chef so we could have our food prepared as soon as the kitchen opened. They then drove us back to the dock in time to catch the last ferry off the island for that day. The food could be quite possibly the best I have ever eaten. We are beyond blown away by our short visit and will be recommending this as a must do while visiting Portland. More...

It's a great chance to be immersed in over a century of history and small town New England island culture. Somehow it's both a high quality accommodation and culinary experience while feeling like visiting family.

We stayed in an ocean view room with private bath. The room was quite small, which we were aware of when we booked. The common spaces of the hotel are really nice, the large porch with ocean views and the inside sitting room with fireplace. We borrowed bikes from the hotel to tour the island. The older bikes need to be mai ntained better or replaced. ||When we were at the inn(midweek) the only other place on the island for dinner was not open, so we ate both dinners at the Inn. The first was just great , both the service and the food. The second was memorable, but not in a good way. The dinner had obviously been overbooked and the staff was not able to give good service. We waited an hour and a half for our entrees. We had incorrect food brought to our table and were asked (after an hour) by our server what we had ordered. After our meal was served, no one came to check on us or fill our drinks. We were offered free desserts, but by that time, all we wanted to do was finish our food and leave. Since there are no other options for meals, the inn really has a responsibility to do a better job in this area for their guests. More...

We chose the room with a private Bath and it was perfect as it was a corner room and the breeze was very refreshing. The meals were all great and the service exceptional. This is an old Inn so don’t expect air conditioning or television in the rooms. The Island breeze kept us cool even in July. The Chebeague Island Inn is a unique experience and one you will want to repeat. It is a portal back in time to a simpler type of vacation. Unplug and unwind. No TV, no car, no worries. The food and service are exemplary. The sense of relaxation you will get the first time you flop back in a seat to enjoy the view over the bay from the porch makes every step of the journey worthwhile (and the journey for most will include parking off-site, a school bus shuttle, and short ferry ride). The staff take care to make sure you find the best of what this friendly island has to offer, from taking a cruiser bike (or the Inn's shuttle van) down to one of the many beaches (especially great is the low-tide walk over to Little Chebeague) to playing a little tennis or golf (the unique par 3 7th hold of the golf club includes a tee on the boat dock) or just soaking in the scene. You will feel pampered by the service, the tranquility, and the views. The lodging is simple, and retro-camp-elegant in a happily Spartan way. Don't expect a big wide bed or a strictly climate-controlled room. This is the large scale version of great Maine "camp." It is unique and wonderful and proud of it. Enjoy!!!! More...
