CGS Pet Services was founded by the owner Chris in late 2016 after completing a foundation degree in animal management at Sparsholt College. Chris has gained over a decade of experience working with a wide variety of animals in the domestic, zoo and aquatic industries, and is also a registered volunteer dog walker with the Cinnamon Trust.

As part of of our service we like to meet new customers and their pets prior to beginning any walking, drop-in visits or holiday care. This provides a good opportunity to get to know your pets a little and for us to answer any questions you may have about our services. During the visit we will also go over a short questionnaire which allows us to make note of any important information such as nutritional requirements and allergies, favourite toys, fears and social traits regarding interactions with other dogs. Any special requirements for your pets will be catered for to the best of our ability to do so.

All equipment required for walks can be provided by CGS, although in many instances using your dog's familiar harness, lead and equipment helps to create enjoyable and stress free walks for all dogs, particularly more sensitive individuals who may not appreciate sudden changes in their routine.

When on group walks we prefer to match dogs by temperament, age and size to ensure their suitability as play mates and that the pace of each walk is suited to each dog out with us. Each individual is assessed for suitability for group and paired walks before any walking takes place. We understand that some dogs prefer to be walked alone and also offer individual one-to-one walks.

On group walks our policy is to limit to a maximum of 4 dogs per walker. We find that this way we are able to give each dog the proper attention and interaction they really need and also have plenty of help on hand if there is a problem in the field.
All dogs out adventuring with CGS will have a temporary tag fitted to their collar or harness containing our contact details in case they wander too far and get lost.

We offer a range of drop in pet care services for those pets who prefer their home comforts, from a quick stop by to check in and feed to a full holiday care package. We will always stick closely to your chosen timetable to minimise any disturbance to your pet's routine and are always happy to help with everyday tasks around the house like watering plants, feeding fish and collecting post for example. On puppy visits we can include a short walk as part of our visit at no extra cost (usually around 15-20 minutes).

All pet carers with CGS are trained pet first aiders, DBS checked and are fully insured as designated key holders. We are always happy to provide copies of certification upon request.

Just had Chris visit our pup including a group walk twice a day for 5 days! What more can I say other than brilliant service! Polite and genuine man! Fredrick was one very happy puppy! And Chris was willing to accommodate any requirements during the week! As Fredrick wasn’t used to being on his own changes needed to be made once we found out how he would cope and nothing was a problem for Chris! Would recommend and will use again!

He has a very good knowledge of all animals, understands both customer and animal needs. plus just a generally nice person altogether.

I have known him for 26 years and most of that was working with animals or helping create animal habitats. Snakes, fish, lizards you name it he'll know what to do.

This is his dream so why not give him a call :D

Used Chris’ services back in February when I was working away and my partner was on shift. He came morning and lunch and not only did he make sure Fredrick was happy but he also cleared up anything he may have destroyed (first time on his own so bound to happen). Chris was very accommodating and flexible and I can tell by the pictures that Fredrick just loved being out and about with him! I would not hesitate to recommend Chris and will definitely be using his services in the future! Thank you so much for helping make my week away from Fred that much better as I did not have to worry about him!

So, what can I say about Chris and CGS Pet Services?
You would not want your pet, be it dog or goldfish, to be looked after by anyone else other than yourself!
Chris has been of invaluable help to us and our young pup Texa, visiting at lunchtimes, feeding, playing games with her and even clearing up!
He has a genuine love and interest for all animals and their wellbeing and is very knowledgeable in all aspects of animal welfare and dog behaviour.
He is honest, trustworthy, reliable, conscientious, extremely capable, responsible and a really nice guy!
I am genuinely sad that we do not need Chris's help at the moment with Texa, but we will definitely be calling him for any future care or advice that we may need. Thoroughly recommend :)

Dog Walking

We offer a range of walking services to suit your dog's individual exercise and social needs. Starting at 30 minute walks for those who may need a more sedentary pace, to 60 minute and 120 minute hikes for those who need an appropriate outlet for their boundless energy. We do not include travel time in the walks so dogs will be exercised for the full time agreed. All dogs on walks with us will be transported in a fully equipped vehicle, fitted with safe, appropriate transport cages. All equipment can be provided, although most pets prefer the use of their usual lead/harness. Collection from and drop off back home are included in the service. Fresh drinking water is always provided for walks and also a variety of treats will be provided in moderation (any special dietary requirements will be discussed as part of our free initial consultation). For group walks we will endeavor to match each dog's size, age and temperament to ensure a happy and sociable walking environment for all. We keep to small groups to ensure each dog gets the attention and stimulation they need (maximum 4 dogs per walker). It is imperative that every dog in a group is comfortable with the social situation they find themselves in, therefore we will only match suitable walking groups together and with the permission of all owners. We also offer a solo/single household walking service for dogs that may not appreciate group socialisation. We utilise a variety of quality dog walking spots in and around Southampton, and will often take trips to the New Forest and dog friendly beaches in our longer treks and activity hikes but are always on the lookout for new places to explore.

With experience caring for a wide range of animals from small mammals, fish, reptiles, cats, dogs and birds CGS Pet Services can help keep your pets safe and happy while you are away.
