What do you love most about your job?
Being a play therapist is a real privilege. The training is University Masters level and incredibly thorough. I love my job because I am helping to improve children's mental well-being, which will stay with them and serve them well throughout their lives.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I work in a special school for children with autism and they supported me as I completed my training hours. Once I qualified, I found I was being sought for more work and set up a practice clinic in Herne Bay to take private clients to fulfill the demand. This is fulfilling and I am running full.
Why should our clients choose you?
I have gained significant experience during the years I have been practicing. My specialist area is neurodivergency including autism and I gained the AutPlay® Therapy Provider qualification in Miami at Easter in 2019. This has given me additional specialist skills to 'bolt on' to my Accredited Play Therapy qualification. I am always exploring relevant trainings for my own professional development and to keep up to date with the latest understandings of neuroscience. I pride myself on giving a tailored therapy plan for every client and maintain open communications with parents/carers for the duration of the therapy.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I do not offer remote Play Therapy, but have, during Covid-19 lockdowns, offered free weekly Zoom check-ins to maintain the therapeutic relationship.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I have a comprehensive Risk Assessment that is a 'live' document updated as appropriate and which is shared with families on request and when my services are engaged.
Play & Creative Arts Therapy

"Toys are used like words by children, and play is their language" - Garry Landreth author of 'The Art of the Relationship'.
This means play therapy is a way for children to receive counselling without having to use words.
