Luna our black Labrador had been a handful since she came home from the breeder. We had done our homework and seen her with her mum at 2 weeks and again at 5 weeks. We looked at pedigrees etc and her parents temperament was also great. She was house-trained, slept through the night and appeared relaxed from the first night in her new home. She startedj umping up and nipping at about 4 months and this got gradually worse until, by the time she was 9 months it had become unbearable. We had ripped clothes, bruises and couldn't go into the garden without being mugged. We had previously met Alison at a local dog show and were impressed with her attitude and caring ways with her dogs. Out of desperation we called and had a long chat on the phone followed by a home visit to discuss our options. Alison assured us the problems could be rectified with patience and training and so a plan of action was drawn up.Things improved slowly at first but continued to improve, with ongoing support by phone and email from Alison between her visits. We now have a mostly well behaved, loving 16 month old Lab which I'm sure we wouldn't have had without help. Training is not just for your pet but for the owners as well. We understand Luna better now and can usually recognise what she is trying to tell us before we have a problem whether it's because she's anxious or worried or just needs the toilet. If you are having problems just give Alison a call and have a chat. You have nothing to lose and believe me a lot to gain, the puppy you want is in there somewhere, you just need to find it. Alison is one of the most enthusiastic people I know who doesn't criticise and only offers constructive advice. My rescue lurcher is my first ever dog and I reached out to her within a day of him coming home, as I had no idea how to cope. She has been singularly responsible in helping me learn how to communicate with my dog and how to understand what he's telling me (without words!) in return. She has taught me how I can teach my dog (all positive training) and training sessions are now the most fun Beanie and I have together. She has taken me through Beanie's separation anxiety and although it's still work in progress, she motivated me to persevere and answered all my questions when I wasn't sure. I keep finding more people who need help and I'm happy to provide it!
