**Alan is like a Surgeon**

This might seem like a strange title for a review of a wedding photographer but this is how his professionalism and expertise came across on my recent wedding day and indeed before it. ...

Much like your pre-operation consultation Alan travelled to Edinburgh to visit me and my Fiance at the venue we were going to be celebrating our marriage. His attitude was calm and professional, allowing for our nervous and shy nature and by the end having us laughing and joking along with him creating some memorable shots and some amazing memories. Yet this can be done by most photographer's. For me and (my now wife), what set Alan apart was his reassurance, his calming, composed and excitable nature that let us know he was loving what he was doing, and this experience would be as unique to him as what it would be to us... even though he had done it all before.

Then came the wedding. As stressful a day as there can be (well at least that I've experienced), yet Alan glided through the day with his normal assurance. The photo's were neither a chore nor really noticeable, and this I mean in the nicest way possible. He was there taking snaps when you didn't even realise allowing for some really natural photographs and moments we only thought would live in memory to be there in front of us after it was all over. His "staged" shots are away from tradition, allowing all those involved to forget where they are for a second and to have fun with the family and friends around them.

The after wedding service is caring and considered as well. Alan allows you time to digest the massive moment before he approaches you about your photo's. Not only this, but he includes only the shots he deems worthy of your wedding with his particular and perfectionist nature. He is easily contactable, receptive and believe me this is no smoke and mirrors job. On a day when so much could go wrong (and for me and my wife it did), it was nice to have a service before, during and after the wedding that was constantly professional and exactly what we'd hoped. I can't praise Alan enough and I said he was like a surgeon and the reason is this... A surgeon reassures you, a surgeon understands you and a surgeon knows what they're doing and knows they can help you... This is how we both felt with Alan and I can only Thank him and recommend him to anyone who wants a photographer.

My soon to be husband and I had a photo shoot with Alan to prepare for our wedding in July this year. The images he produced are really great, very atmospheric and flattering. We thought we would just do a few testers, but Alan was very enthusiastic and thorough. He took shots in as many locations as possible, making sure the lighting was appropriate, so we are well prepared for our big day. After the photo shoot he sent a wide range of edited pictures over to show us the finished product, and they were fab! He is friendly without being too intrusive and a great guy to work with.

Alan has an amazing talent for 'capturing moments', as well as the traditional formal photos of the day he also captured informal ones which showed the natural fun and excitement of the day. His ability to not miss a moment is incredible, as is his energy and passion for taking photos which came across in his work.

Alan went above and beyond during the day. He was very relaxed and professional which instantly put us at our ease and made posing for pictures feel comfortable and natural.
