The idea was, and still is, to get people of all fitness abilities outdoors training in parks, with motivation provided by military trained instructors. While many people refer to BMF as a boot camp, it was never the intention to make BMF an intimidating, hard out boot camp.
Instead the aim was always for us to give everyone a fun and effective form of training using the highly professional skills learnt in the military to get people fit.
In April 1999, British Military Fitness had its first class in Hyde Park, London. The first session saw just three people turn up. But week by week, the numbers grew as the people being trained told their friends and work colleagues about how great, and fun a BMF work out was, others simply walked up in the park and asked to join in.
We also offer 1:1 personal training using the same military PTIs working towards a more specific goal for the individual at a location suitable to you.

The hardest thing about BMF York is being brave enough to come to your first session!! I know before I started I thought it would be full of scary, ultra fit people and instructors that shout at you. It’s actually full of really nice people with a real mix of fitness and the instructors are lovely. They encourage you to do your best, but within your own abilities. When I started Bmf 4 years ago I weighed in at 18 stone and couldn’t run 50 yards,with the help of the great instructors and all my other bmfer’s last year I did a full Tough Mudder and made it to a green bib,I still go twice a week.

Fantastic instructors, totally committed to their students and really get stuck in. Some really good fun to be had getting fit with likeminded people. Merchandise - absolutely appalling with dreadful customer support. Inaccurate sizing and the stick on letters tend to come off after one wash!!!! Can see a few negative comments, can only speak from experience, but I have not noticed any changes except for different decals on the vans, ok we still waiting for new vests, but the sessions haven’t changed, I still get beasted to beyond my capabilities 3 times a week, a burpee is a burpee regardless of what your wearing. I joined BMF a couple of years ago (2016) when I couldn’t even run across the field in the warm up. there were tears but I stuck it out and with the varied sessions and run club and support of amazing instructors I improved my fitness and by Oct17 I was running my first Half Marathon..definitely couldn’t have done it without them! Great fun, great instructors and participants. Have stuck with this much longer than any gym. It took we a week to recover from my first class in the pouring rain. But loved being able to exercise outdoors and have fun whilst doing it. Improved fitness, mental health and weight loss have happened naturally along the way. Have also developed a love of running thanks to the BMF Running club and am now happy to run 10k on my own whenever I get the chance. Having to starting from scratch after a long break following surgery could've been soul destroying but it has been anything but that.

I Started BMF on September 2014 and am still loving it!! every time you go you push yourself to a limit you never knew you had. It's hard work but as is so often said, 'It's your workout!' and whatever you put into it you'll get back. I feel much better for it and I love the level of commitment I give each session. Been at BMF for a couple of months now and I absolutely love it. I think I've tried most fitness stuff over the years, been to lots of different gyms and classes but I can honestly say this beats them all. I always feel like I've had a great workout, and the guys are great at adapting things if you are injured etc too. I got asked to go to my first class on Saturday by a friend and I wasn't really sure what to expect...but I really enjoyed myself! The activities were really fun and a lot of the time I didn't realise I was working as hard as I clearly was, my muscles are aching so much now! I'm quite active, and had got bored of going to the gym with no real 'goal' - so this has definitely helped. After searching through information about various outdoor fitness classes, I contacted BMF Bradford and recieved a response from Ross the same evening. Having some pretty specific goals that I need to achieve, he was able to put confidence in me of his ability in helping me reach these. Across the two sessions I have attended so far, one being an assessment, I have complete faith that Ross has the character and ability to push me to get there, and to push anyone to achieve a greater level of fitness whatever their goals are! That coupled with an amazing team of people at Bradford, who are genuinely so supportive, has really opened my eyes to a better way of training. A very welcoming group. The instructors are devious in their choice of torture but the results are amazing. It's so much more than an outdoor circuits class. The colour groups work well (come on you reds) as you can push each other within the group and the mixed group sessions push everyone that bit further. British Military Fitness has provided me with ongoing fitness for over 4 years, it's the only method of fitness training that has worked having tried years of gyms beforehand. I have been having fun at BMF for a few years now and love it. An hour of exercise flies by, so I must be having fun! No two sessions are the same so there is never the monotony that comes with going to a gym and it's the best all round exercise I have ever done. BMF is awesome, it's the only fitness class I've ever stuck with! I must admit to being forced to attend my 'free trial', because my friend wanted to join but didn't want to go by herself, over 5 years later and I'm still an enthusiastic regular:-) it's not about who's wearing the most expensive trainers or who can lift the heaviest weight, you don't need to be built like Rocky, or run like Husain Bolt, this is about comradarie, (mud!) and sweat, it's about being outside and achieving things you never thought you could. Being the wrong side of 50, working indoors and not particularly active, I was persuaded by my daughter to give bmf a go. I am still there 12 months later.
I will never be the fastest or the strongest, but I am certainly a lot fitter thanks to the encouragement and enthusiasm provided by the instructors and fellow bmfers. I joined back in April 2017 and within 9 weeks I'd lost over a stone and could run 5k without stopping. Friendly members and knowledgeable, approachable instructors get you through the sessions (with time for humour) when it gets tough. BMF has been excellent. Joined in 2014 after a series of personal crises when I was in a very dark place and it really helped me get back into a good, happy place mentally. Its helping again. I joined Worcester BMF a couple of years ago where I had previously tried training at gyms. I decided to try BMF where I immediately noticed there was a great family bond amongst the members and the support from both members and instructors was second to none. Jason Field who runs and manages the park is an excellent instructor who supports encourages everyone at all levels to become the best they can. The training is full on for the Green Advanced members but there are three different levels within BMF. Everyone at the Worcester Park is friendly and everyone encourages each other regardless of their ability but this is down to the instructors who are friendly helpful and supportive.
If anyone is thinking of getting fit be it beginner or advanced then I would definitely say forget the boring gyms and come and train outside in the beautiful countryside that Worcester Park has to offer. More...
I joined when I got back off holiday in January. Having been very fit in the past, I was a firefighter for 12 years, I was embarrassed with my lack of fitness and the weight I had put on.
From day 1 all you have ever been is encouraging and make it such fun, well most of the time!�
I was determined to get fit for my 40th and although I am not where I want to be....yet, I am much fitter and happier than 2 months ago.
I am also pleased to say that I have dropped a dress size which I am so happy about.
So a huge thank you to Daniel, Mel, Theo and Dave who have all helped me get this far and of course to all the "blues" for the encouragement and the support during the sessions.

My first session at BMF was a bit unusual. I was walking past the group in the park and was invited to give it a try! I was nervous because I'd never been to a gym in my life and took no regular exercise. Nor did I know anybody there but everyone welcomed me and said I'd enjoy it, so I gave it a go. An hour later I was in a fantastic mood and completely hooked! The idea I had of some Sergeant-Major type barking orders at me couldn't have been further from the truth. There was individual work and team games so we all got to know each other. I signed up that day and I haven't looked back, and I have had amazing results. I've lost weight and toned up, gained self-confidence and met some amazing people - I can't imagine my life without it now! And last year I attempted the biggest challenge of my life and ran the Amsterdam marathon, which I completed in under 4 hours thanks to the training I had done with BMF and their experienced instructors. They know how to get the best out of you and they encourage you all the way. And with nights out, trips abroad and challenges for all abilities there is something for everyone!

I found BMF very helpful (British military fitness). Its at Lydiard park and Coate water up to 5 times a week if you are determined! They have three levels and it is based on no shame policy. I found the three level a good help to motivate yourself getting fitter and see your progress. All coaches are certified from various activity and fitness program so can definitely help and support while your are having doubt of what is best for you. They do a mix of running, strengthening, relays including cardio, core, arms and legs work. Some session can be set a more boxing style/fitness some more running style and generally it is a mixed of all of the above. I really enjoy it but cannot go very often. It is also great to challenge yourself and find motivation and go further than sometimes you would think you are able too. A great bunch of lovely people as well! I signed up on the off chance of helping with a bit of weight maintenance - that was two years ago! I stayed simply because the park and instructors are fantastic.
There are 5 sessions per week to choose from and I've never had a repeat structured session, which keeps me on my toes. Every now and then they throw in a themed event and all members really appreciate the variety. It is aimed at all abilities of fitness levels and taylored to suit your needs (that includes injuries ). Age is no obstical and neither is the weather, as we train in it all.
I have become fitter, made amazing friendships and have a dose of weekly laughter and banter.

Just a tad over three years agao I saw a post from a friend about bootcamp. I asked what it was all about and she explained. It sounded like the perfect way for me to train and get fit.
Thanks to the amazing example set by Nick and followed by Kev and the rest of the instructors the quality of training is out of this world.
If you add the extra bonus that the members are more like a massive big family than a group of people who have trained it is clear to see why after 3 years I am still going. I love the fact that each of the 5 different sessions all use the same ethos of encouraging you to challenge yourself and make you better and fitter.

Love it, just done my 7th session! I used to do triathlon and adventure racing but have just been ticking over of late to keep the weight down.... (I've been doing relatively low intensity running, cycling and swimming plus a bit of body weight training most days.... but no higher intensity cardio like this!!!). You can push to whatever level you want here - as your fitness goes up you can dig deeper (that can be hard on your own!). Was hoping to make myself just do the two morning sessions a week (the evening slots are hard for me as I teach guitar) but I seem to of caught the bug (did Sat and Sun too last week!).
