Q&As

Creating music in unexpected ways and unfamiliar genres is always an adventure. Collaborating with amazing creative individuals is a real privilege. Making a living doing what I love is a joy.

I was already creating music for others as a student. The requests for this kept coming in and it led naturally to me setting up on my own. Being my own boss but working in conjunction with others feels like an ideal balance.

You should choose me because I will always strive to find what makes your creative vision tick. I will work with you to deliver the finished product you want. But I will also be ensuring the music created has its own integrity and identity. The end result will be something with which we are both happy and that meets both your brief and budget.

Yes. I can work entirely remotely, where meeting in person is not an option. Many projects are completed via phone calls, video calls and file sharing. My studio is equipped to deal with whatever you throw at me. And I have a lifetime's collaborative music making to draw on, should I need to hire-in extra help.

AS mentioned above, the music-production process can be done entirely remotely. Under normal circumstances, in-person meetings are always ideal. However, there is no problem in doing the whole thing at a distance.

Services

Production has been an integral part of my work as an electro-acoustic composer and singer/songwriter all my working life. I have produced film scores, advertising jingles, theatre soundtracks and albums both for myself and other artists. The music produced has covered a huge range of styles from electronica, through pop & rock, neo-classical to folk and world music.

Brian Madigan has a long track record scoring to picture and other visual media. He has worked with big names in the industry: award-winning film & TV director Iain B McDonald, award-winning CG animator Paul Smith and acclaimed theatre directors Andy Burden and Jon Nicholson, among others. Brian has also supplied music for a range of big-brand advertising clients - including Wilkinson Sword, Shell, Comfort, Nestle, Kit Kat and Felix - and is the UK's leading provider of music for Dance education.

As a performer, Brian has worked in everything from pit orchestras to punk bands; this live experience adding great depth to his musical understanding and helping to inform his composition. Currently Brian performs solo as 'a Band named Brian' and plays drums and percussion in a variety of other groups and ensembles.

Brian has worked as visiting lecturer at Bath Spa University and provided music-for-picture workshops for the Diploma in Creative Media in Wiltshire. He has run music improvisation workshops in a number of settings, including theatre summer-schools, Dance courses and for volunteer workers in Africa.

A music graduate, with drums and percussion as first study, I also play flute, guitar, keyboards and sing. Notable performing highlights have been Wise Wound: a cult psycho-acoustic folk-pop band from London, with whom I played percussion and sang backing vocals during the 1990s; performing extensively around London and at festivals including Glastonbury and Guidford. Later that decade, I was on drums with 'Madigan' a folk-rock band whose album 'Uncorked' was highly acclaimed in Froots magazine and led to festival appearances throughout the UK and in Europe. More recently, on drums with funk/RnB band 'Plucky Purcell', we have supported 80s ska legends The Beat and stormed the notorious 'Rabbit Hole' stage at last yuear's Glastonbury festival. I also play percussion with a couple of current bands and recently toured Germany in drums with 'Rivers of England' - acoustic folk-pop of the highest order.

I have worked extensively as workshop leader, facilitator, song-writing mentor, composition tutor and drumming tutor. Chiefly, I am interested in working with musicians and non-musicians to find their own 'voice', often working with improvisation and abstract sound-making.
