I was extremely skeptical about taking guitar lessons being that I’m a 45 year adult man. After looking at few different places I settled on Big Beat Music Studio. I was super nervous for my first lesson but was immediately put at ease by my instructor Gerry. His methods of teaching and patience’s are amazing. The staff there are all genuine and friendly. Wow this years recital was hands down the best I've ever been to. I really appreciate the fact that everyone received a certificate for their hard work & efforts. It shows the children whether they're young or older that their hard work & practice did not go in vane. All the musicians from Big Beat Music studio definitely brought their A game to the show. Big Beat Studio School of Music have so many talented Teachers & Students. We are always treated like family and the environment is wonderful. That’s where my journey began…
I live in Aberdeen, NJ and called music schools all around my area. We tried a few of them out, but it didn’t work out well at all. So, I continued my search for a music school for Adam and found Big Beat Music in Neptune City. It was clear after a couple of visits that I had found THE school for Adam!
Adam has been taking piano lessons with Michele for over 2 years now. He looks forward to them every week and is doing fantastic! He loves it there so much that he asked if he could also take guitar lessons. He started his lessons with Scott who was absolutely fantastic with him. We will be continuing the guitar lessons also!
I have to say that the entire staff at Big Beat Music is wonderful and sweet. If you are looking for a music school, this is your place!

I went to big beat 20years ago for a short time and what Joe taught me in that time was invaluable. So when my son took interest there was no other school i would have thought of bringing him to. This is definitely the place to come for musical instruction. Whether you are learning to read music, play in a band, or just rock out to your favorite kind of music. Joe has top notch instructors with a valuable education behind them. I've been playing drums for 10 years with Joe and has been phenomenal with the amount of knowledge that he gives in only a half-hour lesson. Joe's studio has nothing but the best equipment. Sound activated lights on the drum set which help the students figure the right combination and order to play alongside with their music. Joe is all about visual. He loves doing what he does and enjoys seeing smiles on his students faces when they receive an "A stamp" for all their hard work. Having set up a Rock Band game that students love to play along with their favorite song. A great way to learn! Joe and his staff are extremely patient and will help the student which ever way they can. Big Beat's Annual Showcase is definitely one-of-a-kind. Joe and his staff always do a fantastic job setting this up. He hires a sound man to record the students performance and just does a phenomenal job putting everything together. Joe is definitely an "idea" kind of person. Always coming up with new ways to help the student understand their music better. Putting all of his energy into doing what is possible for his students to do the best they can. His staff, including the receptionists, always have a great attitude and are always on the UP-BEAT. Always willing to help the student any way they can to get the job done. The receptionist is always working alongside with Joe to help coordinate cancellations or extending a lesson. What inspired you to start your own business?
I began teaching drums at the early age of 15 at a music store. From then on I realized I had a passion, not only for playing drums but also for teaching. Eventually there were so many potential customers I decided to open Big Beat Music School in 1983 and have been teaching every since.
Why should our clients choose you?
Big Beat Music School has been serving the local community since 1983. Big Beat has taught thousands of students over the years and many have learned not only the fundamentals of music, but also life lessons such as goal setting, dedication, patience, etc. all in a fun atmosphere. Several students have gone on to become success stories, playing with major artists that include Elton John and Aerosmith, or performing at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as featured in USA Today and Harry Connick Jr. show. Big Beat Music Schools mission is "To instill a passion for playing music on a conscious & subconscious level for every aspiring student.
