My wife has been nagging me for some time now to get our external lights working. We both see patients in the evening and, during the winter it is difficult for them to identify the premises without a good light showing. The lights in question had been broken for over a year and have resisted the attempts of 2 electricians to fix them. You turned up on time and got straight down to sorting out the problem, and the result was absolutely first class. The lights now work perfectly despite the faulty wiring fitted by one of the previous electricians, who had wired up the sensor incorrectly. Moreover, the price was most competitive.I will be very happy to recommend Bert Electronics to all my friends, and acquaintances. More...

Darryl is a brilliant electrician. He's been in the business over twenty years and there's not much he doesn't seem to know about it. He might cost a bit more than your average electrician, but with Darryl you know you are going to get the job done well so you can be confident that it's safe, done efficiently and his work is guaranteed. He's a really approachable, friendly guy who's happy to answer any questions, and he's really tidy and always on time! Thoroughly recommended! More...

Q&As

As far back as I can remember I always wanted to be an electrician... My globe-trotting years over and my wanderlust cured, I worked on several big projects at some world famous venues in Dear Old Blighty.

Some years ago I worked in Thailand at a Las Vegas-style theatre. I put the electrics in and once the theatre shell was up, then acted as lighting technician for hundreds of performances (which included a cast of 125 people, elephants, lions and all manner of other circus animals). It was a blast!

I went on to work at a newly built Hong Kong Airport for one year, around the time that Hong Kong gained independence. Passengers could take luggage to their local train station and collect it when they arrived at their destination airport. I worked on the network that supported this brilliant service.

I operated the electrics for a Caribbean cruise liner’s in-house theatre, The Palladium.

Back in the UK I was an electrical foreman in charge of a major, year-long project at Buckingham Palace. We built a coachworks area, a surgery and a police area.

A few miles down the road, Darryl Bertie with his van was a foreman at the Houses of Parliament. I carried out maintenance work, sometimes getting involved in areas of this iconic but centuries-old building that were in need of renovation.

I helped to build a maternity ward at Westminster & Chelsea Hospital for over six months. I was in charge of 12 electricians during this tough, challenging but ultimately rewarding project.

After doing professional work correctly for somebody else's business, I soon realised I could do this for myself. And so 15 years later we are still going.
