We have always used Barking Mad, Cotswolds, for our cocker spaniel, Dexter, whenever we go on holiday and we've always been completely delighted with it. Recently, we have needed dog home boarding for Dexter whilst we've been staying in the Newcastle area visiting our son. I didn't know what to do at first and then realised that there would be a branch of Barking Mad in Newcastle too. I spoke to Carrie, the Newcastle Manager, who was extremely helpful and booked Dexter in with a lovely couple. Dexter has stayed there on two occasions now and been extremely happy. What's great is that all Dexter's details are on the central database so Carrie had all his information, which was very reassuring. Nova had the best time her food walk schedule plus her training were kept up although lots of fun also . Could not fault Lorna for all her help finding the right care for Nova wile I went away . Nova was taken good care of , made sure her routine was keeper up but that Nova was on holiday and had lots and lots of fun

Barking mad are brilliant! I am a dog owner that feels like I have a child, and Melissa did an excellent job of making me feel at complete ease about leaving my adorable pooch, who often suffers from separation anxiety! Melissa spends a lot of time getting to know both dog and owner in order to make the perfect match to a host, and that's exactly what she did. It's a lovely added touch to receive a photo and a message to know that they are settled too. The host profiles really help to make the owner feel as though they know who their pooch is going too. Carrie is also very lovely, and was very patient when we were running behind the scheduled pick up time. Our pooch returned a very happy one! Barking Mad are also excellent at making sure their hosts are suitable. My nan was a host for them and loved every minute of it. Melissa was always on hand if needed, but my nan was given all the necessary information in order to treat each and every dog like the prince/princess you want them to be treated as. We was looking at options for our anxious Staffy for 2 weeks while we went away and we really didn't want to use kennels because he didn't have a very good start in life,then we came across Barking Mad. What a fantastic company.I honestly don't know what we would do without them now.They have been an absolute godsend and Lorna chose a fantastic couple to have Reggie in their home for the 2 weeks and he had a brilliant time.He came back so chilled and happy.We were able to relax without worrying how he was getting on because we received regular updates and pictures we will be using Barking Mad from now on,we cannot praise them enough. My old baby boy has just been brought home after spending 11 days with hosts Iris and Pete. I was very worried about leaving him because he's 13 now and not been left with strangers before. But there was no need to worry whatsoever. What a wonderful time he's had and been looked after better than at home! I can't praise Jacqui from BM enough either. She's been really professional, caring and friendly from the outset. Nothing was too much trouble and I was kept informed about my boy even whilst I was abroad to reassure me that all was ok. My two dogs have already had three stays this year with Barking Mad and I can't recommend them enough. Professional and reliable from start to finish, I am sure the boys have a better time with their hosts than they do at home! We have total peace of mind when we are away, knowing our dog is being looked after at Barking Mad Northumberland. Great care is taken to get to know the dog and its needs and placing with doggy people who will love and care for her. We have been lucky enough that over the years she has been to some of the same hosts more than once, so she already knows and trusts them - and so do we. Been using barking mad for a while now and their service is excellent. It gives us peace of mind as we know our dog will be going to a lovely home where he will be loved and looked after. Our dog has separation issues so it is important that the host consider this and gives hime to settle in. The prospect of our hounds being imprisoned in kennels is too much - once again Lorna has been brilliant at arranging a few days board and lodging for our two dogs - who greet here like a long lost friend when she gets here, happily climb aboard her transport & off they go. We get a pictorial report of their settling in with the host family, and they always come back in great shape and have obviously been looked after. Lorna is evidently very keen on what she does, is a reliable timekeeper and meticulous at taking care of the details. If you use Kennels think hard about the well being alternative of happy pets in a domestic environment, Barking Mad is hard to beat and Lorna really takes care of your pet/s. Well, where should i start. Bev has been grooming our last dog for 11 years. And what an amazing job she did of our old English sheepdog. ☆☆☆☆☆,We used to take her every 6 weeks and didn't have to say what we wanted, bev just did her perfectly everytime. Sadly our old girl has gone now . But she went to say her goodbyes and was as happy as ever to go , one last time before going over the rainbow. And now we have a puppy old English sheepdog , who has just been to see bev for her first puppy trim and GUESS WHAT SHE LOOKS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. See didn't want to leave . Our dog ‘Meg’ has been looked after by Barking Mad for several years now, her prime carer is Joyce who Meg loves very much. As soon as Ian turns up to collect Meg she cannot wait to get out the door as she knows she’s going ‘home’ to Joyce. This gives us enormous peace of mind just knowing how happy they both are together. On her recent short stay Meg was picked up by Ian and brought to the wedding venue of my son, of course she played to the crowd, thoroughly enjoyed all the photographs being taken of her and Ian looked after her so well. We are hosts for Barking Mad. For those thinking of using the service I thought I would say a few words to reassure you. We are hosts because we don’t have a dog ourselves as we work full time. We love the company, making a real fuss over the dog (replaces our grown up kids), if the dogs a good walker that’s great as we take them out to the Peak District or local walks we know. I recently used Barking Mad for the first time & it’s the best thing I did. I was worried about leaving my Shiba Inu at first as I have never left her with anyone apart from family before but she had a wonderful time with her hosts, she came back full of life, happy & healthy. I had regular updates which included text messages & photographs which instantly put my mind at ease. Wonderful service and a caring company. My Minty has had several hols with the same hosts and is always well looked after. When we registered and we met Melissa ,we knew we could have complete confidence in her selection of host family. She is such a genuinely caring,lovely person with the dogs needs coming first. Our dog had her first Barking Mad holiday last weekend. Carrie collected her, who was also just as lovely, she sent us a message ,with photos,just after our dog arrived with the family. They made us laugh at how much fun she was having already. Our dog came back so relaxed and happy from her holiday. She tried to follow Carrie out of the door ! We had 2 small border terriers, Phyllis & Archie who used to go into a lovely kennels near us. Then sadly we lost Phyllis and Archie was lost without her. The lady at the kennels told us that Archie would not be able to stay with her on his own as she would be very worried about him, as he is such a nervous dog, made all the worse because of Phyllis not being there as his security. She suggested Barking Mad home boarding and we immediately rang them. Claire came out to see us to meet Archie and took every detail about him. We explained how worried we were about leaving him and she said she understood as she has 2 dogs of her own. Anyway we had a trial 2 nights and he was fine, so we went ahead and booked with her for our next holiday. She sends photos of Archie when we are away and keeps in touch throughout to give you peace of mind. Our last dog Trey, a ‘silver surfer’ was always looked after so well and loved his holibags with Elaine and John. He was a withdrawn guide dog who had bad arthritic legs who just loved people and we worried how he would be staying with others. We needn’t have worried as he loved every second and was always cared for to our exact needs regarding his food and medication. When we lost him our two new girls who are rescue labradors now go on holiday with them too. As I am now disabled it was a huge worry for me that if I had to do anything at short notice, who would look after my dogs? I am so lucky that Elaine and John have always gone the extra mile for me when I have needed care for the girls at very short notice sometimes so that this now is not an issue. If anyone is considering dog care I would say let your dogs go on holiday with John and Elaine. You can have total peace of mind to enjoy whatever you are doing in the knowledge that your fur babies will be having a blast with the best care possible and being treated as part of a family with all their home comforts. I cannot recommend barking mad fife enough. When your going on holiday you want your furry friend to be looked after the same way you look after them at home. You want peace of mind and reassurance, this is exactly what Elaine and John provide. No detail is missed out and they cover absolutely everything with you in a 2 hour initial meeting before they board your dog. Our dog has joint issues which can limit some activities, this issue was 100% taken on board while our dog was in Elaine and Johns care. I think it’s important to know any health issues your dog may have will be looked after correctly. You’ll receive updates with photos when you are away- chances are your furry friend is also having a 5 star luxury holiday of their own! The service is second to none and worth every penny. After a bad experience with dog care some years ago, I thought I would never go on holiday again – until I found Barking Mad. My pooch has some quirky habits which require particular care and attention – John and Elaine came to the house to meet him, took note of everything down to the smallest detail and found the perfect host who catered for all his needs. I went to visit my family in New Zealand and had heaps of text messages, photos and video showing my dog out on lovely walks, having lots of fun and looking totally relaxed.
