Q&As

Being creative and having someone appreciate the finished product.

To fit around my health issues, and use some of the craft items I have accumulated over more than 30yrs.

I can usually customise any of the items I make, and enjoy challenges. I have designed a few patterns of my own over the years, including a bag pattern for an employer with a hard to sell yarn which was sent out to all the companies stores nationwide. One of my proudest moments was seeing a lady in front of me in a queue was using a bag made to this design.

Services

I was taught to knit by my mother and grandmother at an early age, and have been making my own wearables since the age of 13. I enjoy making and designing accessories and small items, including a couple of bag patterns for a former employer, a chain of habidashery and yarn shops based in market halls in Yorkshire and the Midlands.
I would like to expand my skills and do more colour-work such as fair isle, as I tend to stick to textured knits.
I class myself as intermediate in the skill as I feel there is always more to learn no matter what your level of competence.

I learnt to crochet quite young, copying off mother and grandmother. I would make dolls clothes and bags for myself, but always favoured knitting as a teen. Could still make a mean granny square when needed though!
I am now more adventurous and have taught myself more stitches and tackles more of a variety of items with the help of books and the internet.
I am learning Tunisian crochet and would like to take my interest in freeform crochet further to create unique one of a kind bags.
I call myself intermediate in this category as I am confident with my skills.

I enjoy sewing and needlework, and working with preferring to make smaller items such as bags rather than dressmaking. I am hoping to add some fabric dog coats to the range at Little Miss Mitzy Boo, and also some collars, leads, and harnesses.
There is a lot to learn as sewing covers such a range of techniques for both hand and machine that I class myself as improving in this category.

I have made jewellery off and on for about 5 years now. I have made things such as earrings and bracelets, a lot of which has been stringing or bead weaving. ,
I would like to explore more techniques and currently I am making items such as wire and bead crochet bracelets. I am also drawn to fabric and yarn jewellery, or soft jewellery as it is sometimes known.
There is such a lot to learn as far as using different styles and mediums go, but I like to experiment and test myself now and then to try and come up with something a bit more unique.
There are so many different ways of making jewellery that it would take a lifetime to learn them all hence I class myself as improving.

I like to dabble occasionally into other craft areas such as small-scale weaving, using clay and Fimo to make beads etc using Shrink plastic and trying to use materials which would otherwise be thrown away to create something new.
I enjoy making paper beads for example as away of recycling, and making beads from fabric and smaller beads to be used on other projects.
There is a wealth of crafts I haven't tried or haven't even heard of so I class myself as improving as there is always something new to learn :-)
