I had been to so many wedding dress shops and tried on so many wedding dresses and had almost given up hope before I accidently stumbled across the AHB. I can honestly say I don’t know what I would have done if AHB hadn’t of come to my rescue. The styles of dresses were exactly what I had envisaged but not yet found.. I was recommended Andrea by a close friend and fellow bride and it was the best decision I could have made. Andrea and her incredible team not only helped me design and create my perfect bespoke wedding dress (which included 2 hours trawling through thousands of lace samples with Andrea! ) but also created the most chic, sophisticated outfit for my Mum; she looked sensational in a white jumpsuit and we both found the experience particularly special being able to share it as mother and daughter. Throughout the process, Andrea was so on-point with all her ideas and reassuring to all my questions and concerns, Siobhan was attentive in all correspondence and generally a source of positive energy and Laurie was meticulous in her attention to detail and made mum and I feel so relaxed. The AHB team are amazing! Andrea Hawkes was the first and only dress shop I went to, and they made the whole process so enjoyable and stress free. Their dresses are simply stunning, made from beautiful fabrics and with impeccable craftmanship. In the end the team worked on a bespoke top for me, and perfectly nailed my vision of 'bold & organic'! Their attention to detail was incredible - getting the pattern pieces from some difficult lace lined up symmetrically, with a sparser region carefully chosen for the neckline. From the moment I saw the Cleo dress in my first copy of Brides magazine after getting engaged, I knew Andrea’s collection was going to be the one to beat. My first visit to Amwell street was just so enjoyable and so relaxing, which was amazing as I’d felt quite anxious about dress shopping and the pressure of finding ‘the dress’. Sophie was amazing and a great help in picking out different styles (without a doubt, 5* customer experience from the outset). The Cleo dress was the one I saved until last to try on and after that, I knew the (very short) search was over. The beautiful sequin top, gorgeous silk... it really was everything I hoped it would be and I absolutely loved every minute of wearing my beautifully fitted dress on our wedding day. I am so grateful to the whole team but particularly Siobhan, Laurie and Rebecca who made the trips to London and fittings so enjoyable, even after a long day at work - calm, friendly, not to mention incredibly helpful with underwear and shoe decisions! I was a little apprehensive about wedding-dress shopping: anxious about not being as thin as I'd like to be, terrified that I'd be sent away, and told that they couldn't cater for women with curvy bodies like me, but in reality the experience was completely delightful. Siobhan reassured me on every front, got me trying on dresses, pinning and making lots of suggestions and we had an idea within about half an hour.All throughout the process I worked with Siobhan, Rebecca and Laurie, and they were extremely kind, professional and good humoured - even putting up with my two-year-old nephew who came to every fitting! I found Andrea Hawkes bridal after googling around for minimal/modern bridal designers in London, and made an appointment with very specific requirements in mind. I was attended to by the lovely stylist Siobhan who was friendly, down to earth, welcoming and helpful. It was a pleasure to be in the store, they have so many flattering styles in beautiful, luxurious fabrics, and the bespoke/customisation options mean you're spoilt for choice. Andrea and her team are impeccable - her studio was the second place visited (having no idea of what I was really after) and from the moment I walked in I felt at ease - no pressure or sales tactics, just genuine desire to find the right dress for me. However, as I was so early on in my search I felt I needed to try on other styles elsewhere but something kept pulling me back to the store. When I returned and re-tried on her creations I knew this was the place for me. I cannot stress how incredible the quality and craftsmanship of the dresses are... as somebody who was pretty thorough in her search, nobody else came close. I had tried on a few dresses, but disliked the poor quality fabrics and the fussy designs that made me feel as if I was in fancy dress. Out of frustration I searched for 'minimalist wedding dresses' and Andrea Hawkes was one of the first hits. As soon as I entered the studio I knew I would find my dress there. Andrea and Sophie were so friendly and welcoming, and guided me through the collection to help me pick the right dress, the Elizabeth. Never is that more important than when you choose your wedding dress.

We gave Andrea and her team an enormous challenge - to design and make nine bespoke dresses ranging from a 'wow' creation for a bride in her late fifties through to a wriggly little three year old flower girl. Each dress in a different style, colour and fabric and for all shapes and sizes. Next, arrange fittings for six very busy women from Islington to Australia and deliver them all in under a year.

Andrea made it all look simple - her catchphrase is "that's not a problem!" The finished results were absolutely stunning and we all felt gorgeous on the day. In fact, we all had withdrawal symptoms once the dresses were finished and we had no legitimate excuse to go back to the oasis of calm that is Andrea's Clerkenwell showroom.

The whole process went without a hitch and the quality of our dresses, the obsessive attention to detail, the fit and the intuitive feel for cut and fabric sang out in every single photograph of our magical day. Worry about the first dance, worry about the caterer, worry about the weather, worry about the best man's speech ... but do not worry about your dress.

Although I didn't buy my dress from here, I was compelled to write about how great this shop is! Hands down the best bridal shop experienced I've had. The dresses were beautiful and of amazing quality, and there were lots of styles to choose from. Modern but classic styles fitting for the contemporary bride. The shop itself was really cute and nicely decorated. As for the customer service, it was unbeatable. Never once did I feel rushed or pressurised like I did in almost all other shops. Andrea was attentive, patient, and just the loveliest - thank you! You could tell she has a true passion for what she does. Andrea's shop was the first place I visited looking for a wedding dress and I knew I didn't need to go anywhere else. I was 5 months pregnant on my wedding day and the team were lovely, accommodating and hugely flexible given we didn't know how big the bump would grow. After a few unsuccessful attempts at wedding dress shopping in boutiques (and being floored by the price for some of the dresses given the quality), a good friend told me to meet up with Andrea. I was instantly impressed at how much care and attention she gave to me – if you go to the boutiques/shops, you deal with sales people who just want to make a quick buck – but Andrea took the time to go through my ideas and inspiration, and was so down-to-earth breath and easy to work with.
