Double check the rate they give you over the phone!!!!  I was looking for a place to keep my dog while on vacation and found Anderson Acres on yelp. I called to get info and was quoted a price over the phone.  When I picked my dog up they charged me a much higher rate than discussed!  After stating my concerns the owner emailed me a copy of the contract I signed when dropping him off and the rate was yet again, a different price than what I was told over the phone and what my invoice stated when I picked him up!  THREE DIFFERENT RATES!!!!!  Phone rate, invoice when picking him up, and rate when dropping him off!  Make sure if you use this place to double check what you will be charged AND any additional fees!!!!! Great place and very friendly.  They took excellent care of my dog. My dog was able to socialize with other dogs. Apparently he and a husky were having long talks. They took him for walks. I am not sure if it is my imagination but my dog walks better on a leash. I would definitely use them again. More...

I had never had to board my dog and cat but I'm new to Bakersfield so I had nobody to watch them while I went out of town for a week for work. This place was great! Anderson Acres has friendly service that gives great attention to the dogs that come visit.  They take them out for walks, they let the friendlier dogs interact with each other and the most important fact that's hard to find in Bakersfield is that they don't keep the dogs locked up in a crate all day.  <br><br>They even work with your dog while you're away whether it be socializing, housebreaking, etc.  My 7 month old always comes home happy and calm.  Rather than if he were locked up he'd be hyper and all over the place. I had mt little snouzer pup here in Sept of 2009, told me that she would have plenty of space to sun, and taken for walks three times a day. When I returned to pick her up (unexpectedly) I found her to be in a small carrying kennel. When I asked the owner about she said the weather was bad and it was for security, it was overcast but not dangerous. I was pretty ticked, $20.00 a day and put in that small kennel. More...

Janice Anderson is so very-very responsible with every dog that she comes in contact with. She has been fabulous with mine and he has come home very happy (he actually didn't want to leave Anderson Acres! ) I cannot recommend Janice and her family enough, they treat all the dogs like they are their own. Janice is also very involved in the dog community and she is a great resource for anyone who has a dog. She is my go to gal whenever I have a question about my dog. Anyway, you cannot find a better place to leave your dog! Janice also breeds gorgeous and well tempered Newfoundlands, which is what my dog is and Anderson Acres is where I got him from. More...

I left my dog in a kennel for the first time ever at Anderson Acres. The day I dropped my dog off at this kennel was the last time I have and most likely ever will see my dog b/c Anderson Acres kennel LOST my dog. Isn't the point of a kennel to keep your dog safe and well fed and watered while you are away? Now my dog is either starving, dehydrated, cold, and dirty - or DEAD. This place is obviously unsafe and unable to keep your dog contained, and in addition to that it sits right on a busy highway. More...
