A few weeks late with this review which is inexcusable since Bahram may have saved my life when he identified faulty wiring in the panel box.  My washer stopped working mid-cycle, just died.  The dryer died 5 minutes later.  I called an appliance repair guy who told me that it wasn't the appliances, it was the electrical.  After reading the positive reviews, I called Altap.  Bahram answered immediately (what? wow!)  and was able to come out late that same day which was fantastic.  Bahram showed me how the last electrician hadn't finished the wiring correctly and where the wires were burnt.  He said eventually I would have had a fire!  He fixed the wiring fairly quickly--yay, a nice bonus that I didn't have to deal with a washer full of sudsy wet clothes turning to mold.The last electrician did most of the wiring for my condominium complex, so Bahram's discovery was alarming.  I obviously shared with the HOA and my neighbors that they better get their electrical panel checked out, and if they are smart, they'll call Bahram at Altap!  I recommend Bahram for his experience, knowledge, fair market price, professionalism, efficiency and kind disposition. Just echoing back whatever has been already said by everyone. We got couple of exterior outlets and security cameras installed. Excellent service all around. - Right on time and finished everything as soon as possible.- Spread blankets wherever they are walking/working, so that they don't muddy the floors. I had to upgrade my electricity panel for additional capacity to support air conditioning install. I reached out to Altap electrical based on Yelp review and I was not disappointed. He was quick to pick up the call and suggested keeping the price low and not ripping out the old panel housing from the wall. Got my electricity panel upgraded by Bahram (owner). He also installed couple of power outlets in the house. He did a solid job with good results. I had some issues with power not returning to the section of the house connected to one particular fuse, and Bahram was quick to come over multiple times to resolve the issue.One minor quirk with him:He always picks up the phone within couple of rings, which has a side effect of being frequently interrupted by others customers while he is explaining you something. I am very happy with the work that was done with Altap. I needed to put recessed lighting in one bedroom, and troubleshoot a problem with our bathroom fan tripping the GFCI outlets. I contacted them through Yelp, and received a reply the same day. Once I chatted with Bahram about what we needed, he sent an estimate the next day. We set up a time within the week. I was most impressed with how quickly the work was done. I highly recommend Altap Electrical.  I used the ThumbTack app to find an electrician to diagnose an electrical problem with my house.  Everytime an appliance was turned on, the lights in my house dimmed significantly.  I engaged another electrical contractor and they came out to my house and spent over an hour informing me that my 17 year old 200 amp electrical panel needed to be replaced as well as all of the electrical wiring in my 60 year old house to the tune of $66K.  After receiving this distressing news, I decided to ditch the ThumbTack app and went onto Yelp and found Altap Electrical.  I sent an email to the company and the owner immediately responded and asked me to send some photos of my electrical panel.  He then said that there is no way that the other contractor could be correct.  He asked if he could see the panel in person and I agreed.  When Bahram arrived, he immediately said the issue I was experiencing was not due to the panel, nor the wiring in the house.  He advised to call PG&E immediately and inform them that I had an emergency.  I followed Bahram's advice and PG&E immediately came out and diagnosed the issue as an "open neutral" on their side of the meter.  Apparently, squirrels chewed through the wire on the power pole causing the situation.  After PG&E replaced the wire at no charge to me, my power was restored to its normal condition.  No dimming of lights whatsoever.  Bahram's time and expertise was definitely worth his service charge.  I have already referred Altap Electrical to a friend at work and I heartily recommend them for any Yelper's electrical needs. I turned on my washer 5 AM. Immediately I saw light bulb flash, fire and flash light along the outlet as well as smell the burn. We tried to call three electrical contractors. Luckily, Bahram is able to come. It took only 10 min he find the problem. Bahram called PG&E immediately to report the emergency. Had Altap (Bahram and his team) work on installing kitchen recess lighting and also had my old subpanel replaced.  He mentioned that my old panel might be prone to fire and best to get that replaced.  The cost was very competitive and you can tell they know what they are doing when doing the electrical work.  8 cans of recess lighting done in about 1.5 hours.  Much faster than i thought, but then, as i said, they know what they are doing.  Also patched up the ceiling.  Sub panel took about 4 hours with 2 person working on it.  Bahram is very  pleasant to work with and they are on time and left the place clean.  I would definitely recommend him for your electrical work. I recently had some recessed lights installed by the Altap team and the overall experience was great.  I submitted a quote request on Saturday and heard back in a few hours.  Bahram answered some of my questions on Sunday and was able to squeeze me in for a Monday install.  His team came in and did a great job keeping things clean.  They even found time to take care of a few lingering items I had been planning to do myself but kept putting them off.  After a few hours they were done and everything works and looks great.  Definitely won't hesitate to call them again. I solicited 3 quotes to install a ChargePoint level 2 Ev charger in my detached garage.  Bahram's quote was the least expensive.  He has excellent Yelp ratings, which I relied on to assure myself that he would do an excellent cost effective job.Bahram put my job on his schedule, and came promptly with an assistant.  He put down protective plastic and paper in my house to a avoid making a mess.   The job entailed working in the crawl space, adding a cable to my interior electrical panel, rearranging the circuit breakers, routing the new cable to my garage in a way that would not be visibly obvious, installing a new panel and outlets in my garage, and installing the charger.Bahram did this work quickly, cleanly, and efficiently.  He caulked the holes he had to make in the exterior wall, and patched the plaster he disturbed near my electrical panel.  I touch-up painted the affected wall and the new conduit using left-over exterior paint. Bahram is so good.Responsiveness: Immediately responded after I requested a quote.  I let it sit for about a week, got back to him, and then he immediately got back to me again. Scheduling: So we've been in our house for over three years and needed to upgrade our outlets to GFCI.  I figured he'd give me some time a week or two out.  Instead, I spoke with Bahram today and he was out here this evening.  He asked about a 5-7 p.m. time slot but I didn't get home until around 6 p.m. so he gladly gave me a 6-8 p.m. time slot.  A couple other five star Yelp electricians told me it'd be 2-4 weeks (or more).Pricing: Literally half the price of the quote I received from another five star Yelp electrician.Courtesy: Shoes off in the house.  Friendly conversation.Knowledge: He changed out the outlet without shutting off the power.  I assume I'd be lying dead on the ground if I tried to do that myself with the power on.  Also gave me some feedback on the wiring of one of the outlets.It's very clear why he's so highly rated on Yelp. Having received excellent service in the past, I approached Bahram again early this year for a tremendous task:  To help members of our large condo association upgrade their 48-year-old electrical sub-panels. Bahram arranged a generous discount and worked with each of our participating members through their upgrades. After another electrician put in LED flood lights in my back yard, he told me that the electrical panel was in bad shape and recommended I look into replacing it.  At that point he gave me a quote that seemed on the high side.I went onto Yelp and found another two electricians and asked for quotes to upgrade the electrical panel and to see if they too recommend I replace the panel.I eventually decided on ALTAP Electrical because of the stellar reviews and their price was very competitive.  I emailed Bahram and he sent me a contract to sign and the process was on it's way.  Bahram took care of the permits, PG&E hookup and the city inspector.  I just watched as everything went smoothly.Bahram arrived on the appointed day with two of his employees.  The power was off at 8:30 AM and back on at 2:30 PM.  They needed to get to the crawl space to run the ground wire and to fix a small problem with the sheetrock, both times they came into my house they wore booties over their shoes and put down tarps on the carpets from the front door to the crawl space door.  I was impressed (and happy) because I have wall-to-wall carpets.Great job all around. Altap Electrical came to my home to install 8 recess lights. Bahram responded quickly to my request and questions and even moved some appointments around to accommodate my schedule. When the team arrived to do the work they arrived on time and completed the job successfully with no mess behind. I reached out to Bahram for an install of a NEMA 14-50 50amp (40 amp continuous) for charging my EV cars. He is very detail oriented as he asked me to take pictures of the garage and took the time with me, over many msgs and calls, to figure out the most cost effective place to install the outlet. He was very flexible with the scheduling as well as I couldn't be around for the appointment until after my work schedule. He showed up on time, made a new square cutout in the garage opposite the outside main panel and promptly installed the new recessed outlet with the parts he'd brought. After the installation, I tested it by plugging in a Benz B-class that draws 40amp current and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Just want to say that Bahram is a very knowledgeable, patient and diligent electrician and pretty humorous. I would definitely use him next time for any future electrical work! More...
