Alfie was very professional. He arrived on time, did a good job and left the place tidy. He had to cut 3 trees down and brought a chipper. He is also aware of the consequences of the job. For example, he warned the next door neighbours that the 'chips' could go on their car. Thus, they moved their car. One of trees bordered another neighbours' garden; he made sure the branches did not go on their side. He cut down those 3 trees without damaging other trees. He even checked that I was not in a conservation area. He advised me on how to treat some of the other trees. Alfie is very approachable and easy to deal with. I'm really pleased with the service we received from Alfie, which was friendly and professional throughout. We needed some conifers reduced in size which I know can be tricky as I have seen examples where they've been left looking brown and unattractive. Alfie did a careful and skillful job though, and the trees still look lovely and green but much smaller and neater. Work was carried out exactly to my request and Alfie and his staff left my garden and the neighbours' garden (which the tree overhung) perfectly tidy. We used Alfie to look after our garden and trees at our previous home and then sort out the trees when we moved including the enormous neglected 8 Leyllandii that really had to go and we are so happy we listened to your advice Alfie to keep the Hawthorn which after your pruning it blossoms beautifully. We used Alfie for all of the tree jobs at our properties in Leeds. From pruning and training our fruit trees, tree removal, crown lifting, and hedge trimming to name a few. He gives an accurate indication of the price beforehand and also sets a date for when the work will take place. On top of this he is lovely guy to deal with so I have no problems in recommending him. We had deliveries of logs from Alfie and they were the very best in quality, dryness and size that we have ever had. He went to some trouble to offload them from his truck just in the most convenient spot and the price was right too. Highly recommended.

Alfie Sutcliffe took care of trees, shrubs and hedges at both of our properties and did an excellent job. He is extremely capable and can manage trees both large and small - fruit and ornamental too. The tree man we have employed since Alfie's departure has picked up quite a few of Alfie's old customers, said that it is a joy to follow him as the tree shapes are so well formed that all he needs to do is follow the existing lines.I would highly recommend him. I wouldn’t have anyone touch my trees except Alfie. He really cares about the environment and the welfare of the trees. He’s incredibly knowledgable and thorough. I’ve never seen anyone work as hard as him and as consistently and he’s patient, kind, polite and reliable. Alfie created a small area of woodland ( about an acre) for me 6 years ago. He helped me choose appropriate species for a mixed woodland, explained how each species helped the woodland ecology, and planned the planting. He fenced the area, prepared the ground , sourced the trees, over 500, planted , staked and rabbit guarded them. He has maintained an interest ever since, and returns each year for a day of tending the trees, and this year he did the formative pruning, brilliantly shaping each tree so that it will grow to its best shape. He has a great love of trees, and nature, and he has created something of beauty and value that will out live all of us. We love it, and it is now known by all my family as “Alfie’s wood “.
