Alvat is an excellent instructor who helped me pass first time and massively improved my confidence. I highly recommend using Alvat as your driving instructor. Alvat taught me everything I needed to pass my test, and to become a confident driver. I came to Alvat after an experience with another driving instructor who had had a negative effect on my anxiety surrounding driving. Alvat helped me get over my anxiety surrounding driving; he built me back up and drastically improved my driving. He was always very understanding when my anxiety took over. Alvat has taught me to be a good driver and has massively improved my confidence. Now having passed my test I will go back to Alvat to do my pass plus course, which I want to do for the experience on motorways and reduced insurance cost. More...

I spent a lot of time asking friends and online researching driving instructors, as being in my 50s I thought it would be difficult to learn to drive later than most people. Many recommended Alwat as an excellent driving instructor, and those recommendations were entirely accurate.Among Alvat’s many excellent qualities as an instructor, he carefully guides his students to step-by-step confidently move from being an absolute beginner to passing the driving test (in my case second time) in a very helpful, clear and logical manner. His teaching and giving of feedback is excellent during and at the end of each lesson, and he gives students everything they need to build their driving skills and confidence up to the point they pass the test - as well as to continue to learn to improve their driving after passing the test. Being in full-time employment, Alwat’s flexibility in arranging lessons to suit the demands of employment was also really helpful.I have no hesitation in wholeheartedly recommending Alwat and AKG Driver Training to anyone at any stage in life who wants to learn to drive, and to then carry on improving their driving skills. I passed the first attempt!!!! I couldn’t believe it.Alvat was clear, concise and calm with his instructions and explanations. I asked him the same questions a million times and he explained patiently every time. Anytime I made a mistake, he would ask me to pull over when it was safe to do so and we would go through where I had gone wrong and what I should have done. This was so helpful to me. Most importantly he would commend me after every lesson and this helped build my confidence immensely.I am hugely grateful to Alvat for being genuine and for going the extra mile to ensure I did the best I can in my test. So, I passed first time, with only four faults having never driven before! This was all down to his consistency, patience, meticulous yet no pressure attitude to mistakes and friendly, relaxed manner. I had so much faith in his expertise, and he made sure I had a lot of confidence in my own abilities that when it came to test day I barely felt any nerves at all.He not only makes sure you have all of the new 2018 test skills down, but others that you'll need to become a safe road user once you start driving independently (which won't take long with AKG!) In short, I highly, highly recommend Alvat, you'd be remiss not to choose him for any and all of your driving needs. I had a lot of pressure to pass my test and researched a fair bit before settling on an instructor. Alvat had some solid reviews so I gave him a shot, totally prepared to switch if I didn't feel it was going to be right for me.
Right off the bat though I knew I'd made the right choice.
Alvat is consistent and doesn't miss a trick. Once you've got the basics down he'll let you decide where you feel you want to focus and has great local knowledge meaning that he can quickly find a route or area that will help you in that particular set of skills. This means you always feel you're getting good value for your money and of course your time.
He is serious when you need to focus, and can be more lighthearted if your nerves start to fray to take the pressure off a bit. He also has some great film recommendations :D

I had been through quite a few instructors before meeting Alvat and had nearly lost all hope! Alvat makes sure you learn to drive not only to pass the exam( which I did first time) but also ensures that you learn essential skills and good driving technqiues that will serve you for your driving life!
