Abby was a fantastic photographer from start to finish. She came to meet us at the church and barn prior to the wedding and listened to all of our ideas. On the day she made sure we got all the photos that we wanted and managed to capture some beautiful natural shots which everyone has complimented. Abi has been so lovely and responsive since the very first contact we had via email - we knew very quickly that we wanted to have her take the photos for our wedding, and we're so delighted that we chose her! Nothing was too much for her, and she took such care to make sure she understood what we were looking for from our photos - from talking through our likes and dislikes to taking the time to meet with us at the venue and get a feeling for us as a couple as well as for the space the wedding would be in.On the day she was lovely, warmly managing our friends and family to get the group shots that we asked for smoothly and as quickly as possible (it was a very hot day and everyone wanted to be in the shade!), and then very unobtrusively getting beautiful natural shots of everyone chatting and enjoying the gardens.We feel very lucky to have found Abi as working with her was a dream, and our wedding photos are exactly what we were hoping for. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
For me, good lighting is paramount, ideally natural light rather than less subtle flash photography. It is also crucial to be able to think on your feet, and apply creativity in as many different settings as possible - let the imagination flow!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I would let them chat away freely and listen attentively, noting all the details. It is, after all, their big day and I welcome their excitement and ideas.
What do you love most about your job?
The autonomy and artistic freedom, being out and about, and working with a huge variety of different couples. (I am no good at desk jobs, trust me!!)
What inspired you to start your own business?
It started about 16 years ago, when a friend casually asked me to photograph her wedding. I was hooked after that, and my business has evolved over the years - it is a lovely, extremely happy job to do!
Why should our clients choose you?
My approach is very friendly and down to earth, but I also want to make my clients feel wonderful. I have years of experience, always learning new skills and techniques which I enjoy applying to my work. I love the diversity of the people I meet, and the venues I work at - and being kept on my toes creatively. Many of my clients (both wedding clients and magazines) comment on the almost effortlessly natural style of my work - and the use of natural light.
