What do you love most about your job?
Satisfying customers, both candidates and clients whilst helping charities
What inspired you to start your own business?
I set up AA Recruiting for various reasons; I was a victim of the Manchester bombing, involved in the controlled detonation of a bomb at Manchester Airport and lost my Nan a few weeks later. My employer at the time showed no compassion and going through this changed me for good. I completely lost who I was and everything I stood for which led me to creating AA Recruiting.
AA Recruiting has always been something I wanted to do however I never had the need to take it forward until I was being threatened with my job due to not working as many hours as I normally did. I was working 60 hours+ each week and subsequently dropped hours as advised by my councillor at the time. After that meeting I sat at home and just thought “this is your time to find yourself and help others at the same time, Alan”.
I started to think about what my brand would stand for both personally and to others. To me, my brand/logo reminds me of the time I was at my lowest and how I can turn a negative into a positive. It gives me hope, a passion to succeed and the ability to help others.
To others, my logo can been seen as a busy bee that’s memorable and unique or as a professional buzzing bee who is always there for clients and candidates.
The end goal is to create a brand others want to be a part of as they will see the change AA Recruiting has created and to ensure all my staff are respected, not over worked and well looked after as I wouldn’t want anyone to feel as undervalued as I once did.
