I believe that having wordsmithing skills is a talent equal to, or perhaps even more important than, having technological expertise! You do not have to be a Porsche mechanic to sell a beautiful Porsche complete with a Twin Turbo!
Or perhaps it means having a way with words and to be able to explain to an avid golfer why they need to pay $900 for a new Driver because it has a very desirable Moment of Inertia (MOI) and and also a very desirable “Coefficient of Restitution” (COR) … and give them a very warm feeling that their golfing life is about to change!
My real IT life meant responding to RFPs for complex solutions in large Data Centres involving requests for information and pricing quotations for Mainframes and all of the supporting equipment and software and services.
My responses were successful in my organization becoming the Vendor of Record for Mainframes (VOR) for the Ontario Government. A huge victory.
Because I have a lot of experience, I love what I do and am very good at it. I can explain very complex issues like Turbos on a Porsche or MOI on a Driver and be understood.
I can provide services online or remotely which is the same as online for me!
