If you're ever in need for material to cover an old couch, or to make new pillows, or whatever the do-it-yourself need, nothing beats the old Zimman's Dept Store in Lynn. Just an amazing collection of fabrics piled ceiling to floor and wall to wall, a maze of sorts that's just total fun to explore. Be sure to find the basement will tons of cut foam, fabric remnants, and their custom fabrication shop. And the two upstairs floors with fine furniture. Worth spending a couple of hours there. I'm awesome, and when I entered their superlative establishment, they could sense my awesomeness.
They then asked m,E " Good day your awesomeness, how may we be of service? "
To which I replied," I've obviously come to the best place to select the olive green velvet I'm seeking to have custom drapes tailored. Might you point me in the right direction?"
Well, long story short, my award-winning green velvet drapes are hanging up right now as I type this review, and they too, are awesome.

If you leave Zimmans without finding something you really like, you're being too picky.

We it fabric on a weekly basis for sofas and chairs for our business. We do the upholstery ourselves, and rarely bring any adholstered piece home for anything other than added detail or to hold for a delivery date.

Selection is broadcast an varied. Stock turnover is high so new rollsre always coming on the floor.

Price breaks are all over the store. You can spend big; you can spend small.to get watch you want. We would drop $2500-$3000 on silks an uhpolstry fabrics without ever thinking that we were cutting corner. The have a great selection of ribbons, gimp, coding, decorative butting embroidery trim, etc, with whick to finish a piece off elegantly..

Missed the Tuesday morning coffies that we experieneced of the show dealers gathering to buy be materia to cover wharxwas sold last weekend...The big amenders on Tuesdays either had great show's over the weekend or bomded and were searching for a bailout that might make them hole wext weekend.

Plan to spend four or five hours revieing the options. Sales staff very polite. More...

Just had very dated sofa and love seat completely reupholstered. I worked with Pon in showroom and John in workroom. The sofas were transformed into two modern pieces ready for my daughter's NYC apartment. Even helped me set up delivery. They rushed the order and came out amazing. It takes an undauntable and good-natured staff to see a customer come in with a cat pee-stained wingback chair that was pulled in off the street two decades ago, a shabby Louis XVI daybed with horsehair stuffing coming out of it, and a desk chair with a child's ink scribbles all over it and to say: How can we help? Daniel at Zimman's was a fabulous listener. I told him what I envisioned, and he helped me identify just the right fabrics. He's got an extraordinary eye, so when he showed me a silk velvet I would never otherwise have considered, I abandoned my original choice and am so glad I did. That old wingback chair is now a show stopper statement piece. (And Daniel goes down in history for his patience...) The daybed got an elegant update with raw silk. And the desk chair is covered in Napoleonic Bees, right in time for Bastille Day. Pon, magician upholsterer, not only transformed these three pieces, she also got the fill and feel of each just right. Whenever I have an upholstery job or need new curtains, I only go to Zimman's. I'm never disappointed. Unique, head-spinning selection; lovely and helpful staff; professional and courteous delivery. And there is inspiration to spare in the wonderful Bazaar on the top floor. Some days are hit or miss when searching for a specific fabric, but this store is consistently the best resource for decorative fabrics and trims in Massachusetts. The upper floors are dedicated to furnishings and rugs and many treasures can be found there. I have been sewing all my adult life and I have been shopping there for 30 years or more. As I look around my home, I spy many of their fabrics and trims. Sometimes, it is a lush velvet silk remnant that I have found to make a pillow, other times it is many yards for bedding and window treatments. Their staff is knowledgeable.
