We hired Ziggurat to create design concepts for an interior remodel and outside landscaping, and for me the process which would typically (with many contractors) be quite stressful and aggravating was in this a real pleasure. The attentiveness to detail, the knowledge in the various aspects of construction, the patience in discussing design options, and the flexibility in working with our schedule really made all the difference, and we ended up with a remodel that we really love. James Blair is a rare find!
We have worked with him on four big projects for our house over the years and all have turned out amazing.
This includes a bay window, a back yard deck, and a front facade remodel.
His sense of design and attention to details is incredible, which makes him the best Architectural Designer I have worked with. He takes time to sincerely get to know you personally, adding humor, zest and creativity making the design process intimate and fun. He understands the construction process and city permit requirements and designs accordingly. His endless knowledge of materials (paints, woods, stone, appliances, windows, etc.) will amaze you. If he doesn’t have an answer, he will figure it out until he does. He goes the extra mile on everything and makes sure a great design with optimal functionality is provided and within budget.
By the end, you’ll have a unique, beautiful home as well as a new friend. Truly a great experience.

We love working with James! We did a complete remodel of our 1600 square foot Kensington, San Diego home, taking it down to the studs and adding 600 square feet. James' ability to communicate effectively and work with our contractor was invaluable. Another wonderful perk is James' artistic gift which allowed him to produce quick renderings before our eyes enabling us to visualize the work we were trying to accomplish. I have been a part time real estate developer since 1992. James Blair and his Ziggurat Team have provided me with top notch design concepts for a large, multi use, multi family complex.
With their assistance we now enjoy a prestigious Entryway, several individual, separate living spaces with ample privacy and utility, as well as, a great pool, patio and Pergola design for the back yard areas.
My prior architect used to tell me "it takes just as much money to build a bad design as it does to build a good design". True Statement! James Blair and Ziggurat Design have provided me with the confidence needed so that I could take the plunge and do a large scale project successfully.
