I have been training both women & men for over 23 years, and I am a ACE Certified Health Coach & Personal Trainer(American Council on Exercise) and Master Trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). My specializations are: weight loss, total body strength/endurance training & total body firming/toning programs.

I've been seeing Melanie for about 3 weeks now, she is like visiting with a friend, only that friend is making you work towards the goal of a better you. Never thought I would say this but I look forward to Melanie's workouts. Two big thumbs up!! More...

If your looking for a personal trainer look no further. Melanie is the one to see. She will train in her home or at yours. She has all the equipment needed for a good well rounded workout. Melanie has a way about her to get you going and she creates the program around your needs and any physical limitations. Working with Melanie Roofe as my personal fitness trainer is the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. I don't like gyms and I don't like exercising, but the doctor said. .. start exercising! So, I found Melanie, an in home certified fitness trainer who actually made working out fun. We laugh, I sweat and I'm actually losing some weight while I get stronger.I'm a weekend gardener, but before starting with Melanie, working in my garden for half an hour wiped me out completely. Today I was in the garden, weeding, planting and mulching for over 4 hours and I still feel great! More...

When I work with my clients, the most important aspect that I give them is accountability. If you are held accountable to someone, you have a much higher rate of success in achieving your fitness goals. Second, I help teach my clients self-motivation & discipline (i provide the motivation and fun in each session, but over time, as they progress, they learn the power of self-motivation/discipline, which are critical components to success in any endeavor! Third, through my behavioral change health coaching, my clients are taught to have the right, positive, realistic mindset towards their goals and journey, increase their confidence in their abilities, and help eliminate their internal sabotaging self-talk which derails 95% of clients from achieving ANY goal that they have (whether it be fitness or in other areas)

The secret to having a healthy, strong and fit body is a 3 part approach: cardio work to burn the excess body fat, total body strength program to build lean, toned, firm muscle definition for functional aspects of life (as well as aesthetic purposes!) and proper healthy nutrition - which is fuel for your body to change....75% of reshaping your body is the nutritional component - you need to put quality fuel in your gas tank if you want your car to last for the cross country drive! All 3 components must be working together to achieve the best results!

I am a people's person! My passion is helping people, always has been! I love being able to help motivate, inspire and empower women to be the BEST they can be...not what someone else wants them to be. I love being able to see the excitement in my client's face when they have dropped dress sizes or are able to execute their activities of daily life with more strength, endurance and energy! It is truly a blessing to be a part of that step by step process, for it is one that changes lives!

My father was a "do it himself" type of businessman. He was a very successful talented self employed electrician for over 50 years! My inspiration for independence and freedom to "be my own boss" started with him! Over the years as i worked for various gyms, I began to realize that their pushy "sales quotas" and micro-managing of my training methods were NOT aligned with what my clients wanted or needed. I was told "do it this way or the highway", for the gym's primary goal was to make training revenue off us trainers, not in providing the customized attention the client needed for their fitness goals AND their financial budget! It compromised my integrity and commitment to my clients, which to a professional trainer, is EVERYTHING! Finally, after working part time in gyms for 18 years, I left that arena in 2013 to work full time in my business so I could do right by my clients! (not by what the gym's owners wanted for their own financial gain! It's all about the cilent! When you focus on helping others get what they want, you automatically get what you want!

As a former elite gymnast, I love being part of a team, and when my ladies are training with me, we become a dynamic duo team together, helping them realize that they are not alone in this journey and they have a caring, empathic, fun & energetic coach that will be with them every step of the way! I am not a drill sergeant/tough boot camp trainer, and I do NOT engage in abusive/belittling or intimidating behavior to make my clients work! With private training in my home, I eliminate the 2 main culprits that derail a client who doesn't want to train at a gym - reason 1 - overwhelmed by so much "stuff", and not knowing what to do and how to do it right (aka...and is it right for them and their goals?) and reason 2 - intimidated by being around so many other "gym" people. At Your Personal Fitness Source studio, its just you and me (and my two sweet doggie cheerleaders who meet and greet you and bring a smile to everyone who comes through my door every day!, Ace (my rescued, retired racer greyound) and little Amber (my min pin) . I provide a relaxed, informal, non judgemental atmosphere that increases self confidence and self esteem so my ladies WANT to come train with me, and they look forward to their training sessions, not dread them! . I make training FUN!!!!
