Took our new rescue there today. She was in serious need of a style and cut. The team took their time and made sure she was comfortable before they began her service . She had a lot of matted hair and needed to be shaved they still made sure she left with a fresh bandana! They were kind and patient with a really scared little dog . *UPDATE - groomer called me and apologized for being late, and did say they should have called to let me know he would be delayed a few hours. The groomer was very nice and when I came to pick him up they said his cut would be free. So I’m updating my star rating because I appreciate the owner and groomer’s attention to resolve the issue.*This is the third time we have taken our dog for a cut and normally I am satisfied. However this morning we had an appointment at 8:30am dropped him off and had to wait a while to even hand him off to someone. Now it is almost 11:00am and I hadn’t heard anything about when he would be ready so I called concerned and they said that he hadn’t even been started on yet because the groomer working on him had just got there. I expressed my frustration with the girl on the phone and asked why we weren’t called about this and she offered no apology whatsoever other than blaming it on the groomer being late and saying the groomer should have called. I understand stuff happens, but we received no call to inform us there would be a delay and to make sure we were even okay with that. I would have liked to be informed that he was going to be delayed as he can become anxious when he is in the crate for a long period of time in an unfamiliar place. More...

I recently found a tiny, rough looking, matted, and dirty little Shitzu mix, Marvin. He had clumps of matted hair and was in desperate need of grooming. I have never owned a dog that required this kind of up keep. Bark and Sparkle saved me. I called and explained my situation. I did find the owners of this pup but we discussed and decided that I could offer him a better home. I had taken him to the vet, knowing I would need proof of a rabies vaccine to have him groomed. When I showed up this morning, the store smelt great, there was a dog at the counter who greeted me with the receptionist. The groomer came out and spoke with me and we discussed what to do - which was just to "start over" and shave him down completely to get rid of all the matted hair. I filled out a little information card and they told me they would call me when he was all done and ready. When I came to pick him up, I was honestly just shocked. He is a totally new dog. So happy and so playful now that he can move around. The owner took 20% off my total due to the situation Marvin and I had found ourselves in. I had tears in my eyes when I got in the car with him. We went straight to store to get him a collar and leash, he pranced around to show off his new look! You guys have nailed down customers for life. Thank you so much for everything! I love the way the groom my dog, but it's hard to leave a 5 star review when the customer service can be so terrible. Is it sometimes great? Yes. But most of the time? No.
I have called 4 times in the last 20 minutes - no answer. I finally drove over to get an estimate as to how much longer my dog would be. Then had to tell the girl his name 3 times. Then listened to the elderly woman behind me give her dogs names 3 times. (One was Jasper, I forget the other)
I feel bad for the owner and groomer because I can't imagine the business they've lost due to shoddy CSA's. More...

I contacted Bark and Sparkle for an appt and spoke briefly with the person who answered the phone about my dog possibly being a little uneasy with new people. She assured me their groomers are used to this and it would be no problem. I took my dog in for her appt on June 23rd and filled out the information card, making note that she may be uneasy (growls, shows teeth) and talked to the girl at the front desk about it and again she assured me it was no problem. I asked her if the groomer would muzzle if necessary, she said yes but they usually don't have to muzzle. The groomer comes out and asked me what I wanted done and I explained that I wanted her bathed and trimmed all over. She says "well bring her over here" I did and she begins to rub my dog's back in a slightly aggressive manner and my dog growled (as I figured she would because this was all new) She does it a second time and then says "if she's gonna growl and bite, I can't groom her" I said "well she's never bitten anyone but she will growl and show teeth but can't you muzzle her?" Again she said "well I can't groom her if she's going to be like this" There was NO effort whatsoever on the part of the groomer to groom my dog. I've been to other groomers who, after being told that my dog may be uneasy, will be gentle with her and allow her to sniff their hand, etc to let her know they are ok and the grooming was a success. I feel like the groomer came out with no intention to groom my dog. Bottom line, if the groomers here are not comfortable with grooming dogs that may be a little uneasy with being groomed then don't have the front end associates assuring customers that it's not a problem. I have a 75 pound dog & baths are key for us because my dog suffers from allergies. It is so nice to have a place right up the street I can go to where everyone is extremely welcoming. Especially after the dog park, my dog can get filthy!!! I just take him up here and do the self bathing. You can't beat the price and all of the supplies are right in front of you, no clean up, and because of my dogs thick long hair it's nice to not clog up the drain in the bathtub at home! I can’t express how great my first experience was today with Bark and Sparkle! My 10 month old Goldendoodle, Snickers, had to get his ear hair plucked and the staff at the salon worked diligently to make him as comfortable as possible and made sure they were very thorough in this very painful process. He was turned down by another well known salon stating the hair in his ears was matted and that we would have to take him to the vet to be sedated. Needless to say I was very upset. My husband took him today to Bark and Sparkle and without hesitation he had the full attention of the entire staff working with Snickers. We were completely satisfied with our first experience and highly recommend Bark and Sparkle and will make them our new dog grooming salon. More...
