Like many African restaurants, there's little in the way of frills when it comes to decor. But, don't let that fool you. The food is amazing, and the portions of it are generous. I got the Nyama Choma, which is a skillet beef dish that's smoky and tender, with plantains and spinach. Everything tasted incredible.My wife got the Karanga Ng'Ombe, which is beef stewed in tomatoes and onions with cilantro, with chapati (Kenyan flatbread) and kale greens. The meat was so tender that it fell apart with a spoon. And the flavor was tangy and savory. Service was a little slow. Only one person (Sam) was waiting, busing, and running the register. He did great, for being solo. But there's no amount of hustling that he could do to keep up. And he was hustling for he's worth. He was friendly and incredibly helpful with our dish choices. More...

Everything was delicious. Best beef samosas I've ever had and the hot sauce pairs with them perfectly. Their chai tea is flavorful. I had the karanga ng'ombe with ugali and fried cabbage. Front desk attendant was not very helpful. I asked for more hot sauce for samosas and was told I couldn't have more but it was for sale! When I asked the price he replied I can give you 2 more. So I mentioned that I used to work with Wycliff and asked if was in? He said yes but is very busy which I found funny because I know Wycliffe and he is never too busy to speak with a friend or customer. So another worker came out the kitchen and I said can you get Wycliffe I would like to tell him hello which he said he is somewhere on the premises, so who is telling the truth? Anyway I don't think I will be coming back soon as I live pretty far and usually have a large order of samosas which I ordered 26 today. Sorry Wycliffe.Update- Wycliffe contacted me personally and apologized for the service (which wasn't bad) and them not checking to see if he was available. He explained the gentleman was fairly new and only wanted to do a good job. We discussed working out a deal when I place my next order. This is my favorite restaurant in Columbus, and I'm picky as hell. It has to be delicious, tenderly cooked, and good value. Wycliff's kitchen checks all those boxes. It's comfort food, cooked incredibly well, for a ridiculously cheap price. Everything I've had here has been outstanding. I usually get the mchuzi wa kuku (chicken cooked in a delicate coconut curry) or karaga mgambe (beef stew) for the entree, then pilau (spiced rice) or chapati (flat bread) then collard greens. You get to pick two sides with the entrees. Everything here is magical. I didn't expect the chicken wings to be good but they are fried perfectly, crispy, and very lightly seasoned.
