What makes a great website?
At a minimum, a website needs to be as user-friendly as possible and broadly accessible to people of all physical abilities. It should look good and function well on any display, whether the user is on a smartphone, tablet, computer, or any other device that can run a web browser. These elements are just the beginning, though; a great website needs to be well-written and concise, aesthetically pleasing, and consistent with the company's brand and mission. It needs to have good technical performance; i.e. it should not feel slow or clunky to use. Finally, it needs to deliver a useful service, whether this is communication of essential facts about a business or some more complex functionality.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
- Who are your customers / users? More specifically, what are they trying to accomplish? What demographics and personas do you expect to serve?

What do you love most about your job?
As a developer, I’m interested in how we can leverage technology to improve our quality of life. As data becomes more accessible, the possibilities expand in boundless directions. I’m awed and inspired by the fact that I can build anything, if I can envision it.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I starting working exclusively as a developer in 2016, and spent several years on teams ranging in size from a handful of engineers to over fifty. In 2022, I decided to establish Woodshed as an agency so that I can leverage my experience on the projects that most inspire me.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Yes! We do most of our work remotely. Our typical workflow starts with a meeting to get to know you. If you're physically nearby, we might meet up in person if it makes sense for everyone. After that, we usually have weekly video meetings to share our progress and make sure we're aligned on the immediate next tasks for the project.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We've always been a remote-first company, and we started in 2022, so things have been pretty solid in terms of Covid-19 precautions from the beginning.
