My husband and I recently enjoyed a one night stay at the inn as we were traveling through Wisconsin. Our room, though spacious enough, was a bit too filled with antiques and memorabilia for us. Clearly a personal preference. ||Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and it was evident that Pam puts great effort into ensuring a lovely experience. This inn is an absolute jewel. ||If you are looking to stay in or around the Hartford area, you owe it to yourself to stay here. You can find other accommodations, and maybe save a few dollars. You’ll spend another unmemorable night in generic, cookie cutter hotel that you’ll forget the minute you check out. That’s not the case with a stay at Westphal Mansion. Here, you’ll experience hospitality, class and grandeur. Each room is unique, elegant and spotlessly clean. It’s a quiet escape. We stayed for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of this charming B&B. It has marvelous antiques throughout and in the corners and cupboards. We enjoyed wine and Wisconsin cheese in the evenings with locally grown fruit. The breakfasts were beyond gourmet as they were also served with dessert. My husband and I have stayed with Pam and Garrett many times over the years and have always found the Westphal Mansion Inn a lovely, comfortable and restful haven away from chaotic family gatherings. We love the F. Scott Fitzgerald suite with its bird’s-eye view of downtown Hartford and clawfoot bathtub. All I can say is The Westphal Mansion was the perfect place! We rented the Walt Whitman Suite, which has the most lovely blue painted walls and semi-private balcony. Unfortunately we were in a time crunch and weren't able to take pictures in other spaces of the mansion, but the parlor or the grand staircase would have been gorgeous photo ops as well! My husband and I then stayed at the Inn on our wedding night and it was so nice to come back to a quiet, relaxing and romantic space rather than a commercial hotel. The owners were very accommodating and kind :). We did not have time for breakfast in the morning, but I'm sure it was lovely! We look forward to staying at Westphal again in the future! (a fantasy I have dreamt of since I was a child) The caretakers/designers/restoration experts/owners/operators Garrett and Pam really love what they do, and it shows. The mansion features 8 suites dedicated to 8 classic writers from William Shakespeare to Mark Twain to Louisa May Alcott. It is a book lovers paradise with not only the 8 famous authors' works in their respective suites, but all sorts of interesting books, new and old, on every available surface. Hundreds of books can be found around any of the 3 floors, in little reading nooks at the ins and outs and ends of each hallway, corner, and landing.
