A wonderful experience. Horses are gentle. It was just our party of 3 with an experienced cowboy guide. Afterwards, we enjoyed a short jeep ride to get some refreshing drinks, and try our hand at throwing a tomahawk at a wooden plank, archery and trying to hit a target pistol shooting. I cannot say enough great things about this place! And as promised, I am writing this review!
Referred to me by the hotel where we were staying, I didn't really know what to expect - but everything exceeded my expectations.
Prior to coming to Arizona, I made the arrangements to book horseback riding, shot gun shooting, lunch and all of the other activities that they provide. I booked these activities for myself and my two kids, and I was able to add on the Grandparents.
We arrived to a friendly, welcoming face, Joe, who would become our Wrangler for the day. Our Wrangler stayed with us the entire day which was a true plus - as we felt like he really took the time to get to know us and ensure we had the best experience possible. We surely lucked out with Joe and would request him if (WHEN) we go back, but everyone on the ranch couldn't have been friendlier or more welcoming. Joe treated my children with respect - something that I find important- and made the day fun for all of us.
The place was clean, organized and incredibly "authentic" to a "Western feel".
We started off our afternoon with a horse-trail ride and it was great. Joe coached us on technique but truly made it fun and casual. We immediately felt as if he was an old friend.
From there we went shotgun shooting, which I highly recommend for anyone. Both my 12 year old son and my 10 year old daughter - along with their Grandfather took a run at shooting clay. Again, Joe was great and helped to coach my kids along the way. My son enjoyed this the most -- but what boy wouldn't love shooting a shotgun into the middle of the desert!
From there, after a short Jeep ride, we moved onto the re-created old western town! Free to explore the town, the kids truly enjoyed themselves. I, along with the Grandparents enjoyed the free flowing beverages, the friendliness of the staff and the true comfort of the venue. Lunch was fantastic and delicious and no one left hungry.
To close out the afternoon, Joe guided us through a series of activities neatly arranged throughout the town and allowed us the opportunity for pistol shooting, archery, tomahawk throwing and more!
There is no doubt that we will go back and for sure, we will refer this place to everyone and anyone that we know!
Both of my children said multiple times, that it was one of their best days ever! And for my kids, that says a lot, as they have done a lot -- but they will NEVER forget this experience! Thank you!

What a lovely day! Richard was our guide and he was so patient and kind. We especially loved his side kick"Dillon". He was our buddy during the entire tour.
After an amazing ride through the desert we stopped in town to have a BBQ and we were greeted with a warm welcome and delicious food! We played cowboy games and then rode our horses back to the barn. It's an experience that I will treasure forever. Thank you Cowboys!

I love this place! I was there in December 2013 and went on a trail ride with Rusty. We also did some skeet shooting and he hit all the ones I missed. I look forward to coming back.

We had an amazing time here today! Learned so much on our private jeep tour. Our two children loved the ride and learning about the desert and us about its history and facts. So we have visited the ranch twice in two months with about 12 of our family members, my good friends have also brought there family to the ranch twice in the last 2 months, the horses are calm, easy to ride and well cared for, the staff keeps it fun, the food fantastic and the games were well coached as well as received. My niece and I went on a trail ride with our wrangler Rich in April. We enjoyed a great trail ride, a delicious lunch, and fun western games including shooting six shooters, throwing axes, archery, and roping. We had a fantastic time visiting at Canyon Creek Ranch for a variety of reasons. It wasn't just a slow horseback ride and then you're done. ..it's a whole western experience that included archery, target shooting with a pistol, tomahawk throwing, delicious BBQ, and of course the incredible desert scenery. The best part of our ride was our "wrangler", Sam Gauer! His cowboy tales and way of spinning a story truly made our tour so much more interesting, informative, educational, and fun! What a totally awesome day we had! We came in from Dallas and my mom suggested horseback riding...so I book this excursion. ..AMAZING! Chris was our Cowboy and he was AWESOME. He keep the kids (and me and my mom) entertained by asking us trivia and telling us facts along the trail. The western town was so cool, i couldn’t take enough pictures! None of us had ever thrown an ax/tomahawk or handled a gun or a bow and arrow...Chris was patient, totally laid back and made learning for the kids fun! And i was quite the shot for never holding a gun before...I might just have a new hobby. Can’t thank him enough for a great day and such awesome memories!! We will totally be back!! More...

We had so much fun at Western Destinations with Joe. He was fun, entertaining, knowledgeable and kept the whole family (ages 5- 40 something) engaged. Joe made such a kind gesture to bring a tierra made of a cactus to our villa the next day. She was delighted! It was nice to “unplug” from the real world and enjoy the environment. I am crying with joy as I write this. This is a Bucket List Event! I’m not even a big horse person but this is as authentic and real as it gets. These cowboys/cowgirls are gentle with folks like me who have never rode before. We had a party of 8 including children as young as age 5. Riding thru the ranch near the creek, past tall cactus then ending with the best homemade cowboy cookout, tomahawk throwing, real pistol shooting, bow and arrow, lasso a steer and horseshoe throwing. Our tour was an amazing experience! I'm not sure I can put into words how much we learned about the desert, being a cowboy, and life on the ranch. One of the best experiences the family had on our trip! Chris was a great guide and felt like part of the family by the end of the day.
We had 17 family members, and every one of them thought this was a phenomenal day! Horseback riding, free drinks at the saloon, tomahawk throwing, pistol shooting, and bow and arrow shooting. Amazing experience! Very highly recommend it!
My only suggestion would be to have better signage on the road to get there.
