WebriQ Goes Mad

Believing the sales pitch of Webriq Goes Mad was the worst decision I ever made, business and personal. The Colorado Springs seemingly charismatic Alex Belding told me about their web designing, conveniently leaving out the fact that once I paid him thousands of dollars, he would turn over my web design project to people in The Philippines. All designers there were nice people, the problem being their understanding of the English language led to me having to make hundreds of corrections. In fact, I actually designed the site. They just made corrections, one correction often leading to another error.

During his sales pitch, Belding talked a lot about the security his company offers in web design. He just never mentioned I would need security from the damage he and his partner, Philippe Bodart, did to my entire business. When I asked for the needed codes to switch my website to a different (and competent) designer, instead of honoring Belding's promise that I could change developers any time, they took my website offline and put it in a storage place called Github. That was 20 months ago. Without a website to see I couldn't sell anything so I haven't been able to raise enough money to hire someone else to piece back together the website I paid Belding and Bodart to create.

For the first time in my 70+ years on Earth, I sued someone. I sued Alex Belding for what I called stealing my website by hiding it from me. He committed perjury in court when he said I told him never to contact him again (my emails I never said that), then gave his spin on web designing and the judge bought it, admitting that even he (the judge) didn't know what he was talking about. Belding also told the judge the inflated invoice I received was for 2 months and it was only for 1 month.

Their excuse for hiding my website is I wouldn't continue to pay them once my advance payment was used up (DON'T EVER PAY THEM IN ADVANCE!!!!). However, weeks before our time expired I had asked for those codes and been promised them by another owner. And the same day Philippe Bodart emailed me that my site would stay active for another month, he took it down. This kind of deceit in business was a first for me. My guess was it was his retaliation for me demanding the work Alex Belding promised they could do be completed, tasks that they clearly do not have the talent or competence to create (or they would have).

I have always prided myself that I'm not one of those older people who would give money to someone who makes promises he won't keep, but Belding and Bodart proved me to be as gullible and naive as anyone who gets a pitch from a door-to-door salesman. Extremely responsive and overall high quality product when it comes to website build out. As a young business, it's awesome to send a quick email with website change requests vs. spending hours per week on Squarespace. Plus the new site looks way better then I could ever get it on Squarespace.
