The team at this store is very helpful and it is well stocked. Best of all, they have a designer on staff, Jody, who will come to your house and advise you on colors and window treatments. Nice, clean, new store! It has a big paint department stocked with good brands of paint. There is a designer on staff to help with decorating choices. It is a real neighborhood store with friendly staff, not a big box store. There is a kitchen supply store next door, owned by the same family. First of all this is not your normal Ace. The location is great right in the Wayland Town Center . There is also a kitchen shop right next-door connected it is called Wayside Gormet they are also great and even is has something for the kids and M&M Machine down there is also a popcorn machine right near there I also forgot to mention that they have a lovely selection of hardware and kitchen supplies

Amazingly friendly and helpful staff. I've visited the store about four times now and on each occasion I was greeted promptly (but not jumped on immediately upon crossing the threshold) and offered assistance. I ordered two gallons of Farrow & Ball paint from them and there was a little mix up and my order did not arrive as expected. The associate I spoke to was apologetic and courteous. Having worked in retail and special-order sales, I understand these things happen but their conscientious treatment of the matter turned what could have been a bad experience into a good one.I really like how they're a family-owned business. The employees seem to love what they do and enjoy each other's company. That sort of thing makes a huge difference in a shopper's experience. More...

Fantastic addition to Wayland Center! They seem to have everything you would expect at a home & garden store and more! Super friendly staff. ..was immediately greeted when I walked in. I was specifically checking out the Wayside Gourmet which is on the right as you enter on the design side. Lots of kitchen gadgets, pots & pans, appliances, towels, containers, etcWandered around the main room which was super organized, clean and nicely laid out. Tons better than the big chain stores and had that personal feeling. I think we had 3 people ask us if we needed help while there but not in a pushy/hovering way. Plenty of parking on the backside... Or is it the front? It's the side where there's a lot and a large entrance with Blue Rhino refill container bins. More...

The owner of the shop contacted me to understand what happened, and apologized for my inconvenience. He offered me a gift card to compensate for the poor product I received. This is a very well stocked, local family owned, Ace Hardware store with competent, friendly staff. A great addition to Wayland! Despite their vanishingly small online presence (Googling "Ace Hardware Wayland" doesn't find it!) it is actually quite a large store with a full range of products. Much easier and more pleasant shopping experience than trying to get someone to help at one of the big box stores. They are also a dealer for Farrow and Ball and other very high end paints--they even have a decorator on staff to hep pick colors! Amazingly helpful -- an employee found me staring with dead eyes at a display (my usual hardware store behavior) and helped me match a bolt I had despaired of ever replacing, cut chain into small pieces (since I'm almost bereft of tools at home), and stuck with me until everything on my nebulous list was assessed. A+!

What a wonderful business!  In a world of giant corporations and big box stores, this is a family-owned and operated hardware, paint, and home decoration store.  The owner has opened this "green" hardware store in response to his own frustration when trying to find environmentally sound products to do his own home construction and repair. Jeff (who has a Green Building LEED-H Platinum certification) and his wife built the first LEED-H Platinum certified home in Massachusetts in North Truro, the eighth in the nation.  I've shopped there three times now, and the staff are friendly, helpful and know what they are doing.   I hope that the store thrives so that I never have to go to L*wes or H*me Despot again.
