Great quick lunch spot but keep an open mind because some of the food is very different from what I was used to. Particularly the squid dish. The chicken and long noodles was interesting. The pork was my favorite. Lots of locals here, really good service. Would definitely go here again. More...

Awesome authentic Hawaiian food. Our first time there, our friends who live on Oahu recommended this place. We had their popular Lau Lau and kalua pork, and it was sooooo delicious. Very generous portions too!! Highly recommend it. We didn't have room for dessert since we all finished our food, so we will be back next time to have their dessert. We heard their ice cream and their mochi are very good. More...

I've lived here for 30+ years and have only recently tried out this place and I have to say it was superb in taste and price! It only took a native Oregonean to introduce me to this place. I normally only like to eat Hanalei Poi, but wherever I go it's always sold out. The poi here was very good - not too lumpy or too sour. It had the right amount of flavor and wasn't overly sweet. The kalua pig was also very moist and wasn't overly salty. I also enjoyed the beef luau - - the meet was tender and wasn't chewy. I also tried their haupia ice cream with the warm Kulolo which is actually very tasty. I'm not a sweets guy (or I don't normally crave sweets) - but the "Sweet lady of Waihole" was good and had the same texture as bread pudding. I definitely would recommend this place! I don't know when it's not crowded - since I've only been here once, but we went on a Friday at lunch time and it wasn't too bad.I do however - warn about car break-ins - parking alongside the road looked a little sketchy with ALL the broken glass on the ground. Definitely keep your valuables on you and also hidden. Not everyone around showcases the good vibes of Aloha. More...

So glad we decided to swing by this spot. The great thing about North Shore is that you don't really need a solid itinerary--you can just drive around and pull over wherever looks interesting. This building is small and on the side of a remote area so it's easy to miss. Since it was a "factory" I was expecting some more interesting fact and placards about poi and whatnot, but it was just a food spot.We decided to share one of the combo plates (big portions! plus, we had already been eating everything else). We got the pork lau-lau and squid luau. It came with a side of poi and lomi-lomi. Surprisingly, the squid luau was good. Not fishy or anything like that. But my favorite was the lau-lau! More...

If you wanna try Hawaiian food, come to the Waiahole Poi factory. If don't know how to order , then ask for the mix plate. You'll find pork, noodles, coconut squid and fresh poi (taro puree)., with a coconut custard for dessert. Is very tasty and filling. They are really fast, once you order, at the most, you wait 10 min. Or, if you prefer, you can order to take out. Is what I do after coming from the north shore, all tired from swimming and all day at the beach, I just pass to the factory and buy a mix plate. Go home rest a little (meaning not cooking) and eat delicious Hawaiian food. More...

This looks like a nice place. I didn't actually go here, I was just stuck in traffic outside for about 15 minutes while a road crew was doing their thing. I see why Google thought I stopped here. More...

It's been over a month since I've been back from my Hawaii trip, and I'm still having withdrawals. Some think I miss waking up to the sound of waves. Or heading out early to catch that 6am sunrise.Others speculate that I became attached to the convenience of having 37 ABC Stores within 2 blocks of my hotel. But it's not anything of those things that I miss most.I can't stop thinking about something else: Poi. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties, the truth is: I'm just a Poi Boy.Poi is like Japan's version of matcha, or the Philippines' ube. And what better place to get it at than Waiahole Poi Factory? But imagine my surprise when I discovered it wasn't a literal factory (I was expecting assembly lines of workers along with automation mass producing enough poi to supply the entire island). But the Hand Pounded Poi totally makes up for that.If you haven't caught onto the gimmick after all these years, then just come here for the Kalua Pig and Laulau combo plate (see pic). Let the pork fall apart, mix it up, and enjoy! If you legitimately don't like the taste of the poi like us locals do, you can at least rest assured that no matter how bad you view it, that it's still better than Giovanni's shrimp.
