Wahoo Seafood Grill

I came here for lunch when on a road trip and am glad I did! It's not far from the highway, so if you're in the area and don't want to do a chain, definitely make this your stop! They have a variety of seating options including a bar, bar dining, regular dining room, and outside seating. Service wasn't good and the staff helped me decide on food options by suggesting what a lot of people enjoy. I got the fish sandwich, the tar tar sauce I think is made in house and it was therefore extra yummy! It is a dine-in sort of place so if your looking to get it and get out, depending on how busy they are I'm not sure you could do so in less than 40 minutes or so. This is an excellent seafood restaurant!  When we go through Gainesville, Florida, we always eat here.  We love everything about it:The foodThe wait staff like Morgan (a lady)The musicThe ambiance Haven't disliked any of the dishes. ..just like some better than others.The gumbo is fabulous.  A very dark roux full of seafood & meats.  Get the bowl.I like fried green tomatoes & these do not disappoint.The sauce for the crab cakes is some of the best I've ever had.  Actually, all of the sauces  are great.Don't forget the Wahoo oysters....different & baked to perfection.The Boom Boom shrimp are also excellent!Last night I tried a different side dish.  Creamed collards.  I couldn't eat them all so took them with me back to the Hampton Inn & had creamed collards with my eggs this morning.Just GO More...

We stopped at the Gainesville location for lunch and we were not disappointed ! Our waitress Emily was awesome and very helpful navigating the menu. We started with the crab cake appetizer. And an order of Wahoo rolls . Everything came out fresh and prompt and tasted amazing. For the main course, my husband had the market salmon and I had the mahi topped with a  Parmesan crab sauce. If you are near exit 390 on I75 in Florida, stop at Wahoo Seafood Grill and get some fresh seafood and a cold beer. People at the bar are attentive and friendly.

I liked my crab & shrimp boil, but it would be nice if they offered king crab instead of regular ole snow crab since it can be such a pain especially when there on the small side. But alas it's Florida. My partner had a 1/2 sized platter w lots of fried goodies. The creamed collards were also delicious. The grits, well I'm not a huge fan of grits. I had a key lime pie martini & it was soooo delicious. It was $2 off since we were there at happy hr. I would return for that as opposed to anything else. It's not that the food was bad cuz it wasn't but it wasn't outstanding or memorable but I did enjoy my meal. There are just so many options here in this town. Our server was excellent. I wish I remembered her name cuz she's a good one, answered Qs, knew the food & drinks. One last thing I saw mentioned here... the place has a smell, like old crab shells but it's really subtle so it goes away but it's noticeable on arrival. What would be worse was if that smell was around & somebody tried to cover it up w fabreze or some other artificial stink. You've been warned More...

It's a great place to get lunch and normally very quick. They have a lunch menu with that is pretty diverse. Restaurant is always clean and staff has always been helpful.

I had a big time meal at Wahoo tonight. Every Monday night they do all you can eat Crab Legs, Crawfish, Peel & Eat Shrimp with Corn and Potatoes. My review of Wahoo Seafood Grill, the dinning room was clean and will lit, my date and I were seated in a timely manner, the waitress was polite and knowledgeable of the menu,the seafood was hot and fresh with a Louisiana flavor and Cajun kick. 5 Stars.

Get the blackened cobia but ask for it to be served on the mango coconut rice and add mango salsa. You won't regret it. This is by far our go-to restaurant for seafood in Gainesville. Love the live music they have and also their willingness to carry local craft beers (would like to see more choices but it's a start!). it had been a couple years since I've eaten here. Wife and I had had a bad experience so never really thought to going back. my wife asked me if we wanted to go there and eat tonight she had eaten there recently with a friend and said it was a lot better..Man let me start by saying now I see why there's always cars there packed house.... I had the chicken and sausage jambalaya very very good. My wife did her thing with the all you can eat crab legs. they were bringing reorders within minutes of you asking never had to ask to have my drink refilled and I believe our waiter was Austin he was awesome. A friend told me about this spot. Good food, friendly staff. I sat outside during the week it was late and dark and I did get eaten by mosquitoes so bug spray if you sit outside
