Von Shirkhaus Rottweilers

A warning to all;
3 years ago I was looking for a Rottweiler puppy to bring into our family. I used to own a business raising, training and selling dogs in the 1980’s and had several dogs personally over the years personally. I had moved around many times over the years and had always taken great care to make sure that my dogs were healthy and happy.
As I said about 3 years ago I began looking for a very special puppy to bring into my family. My wife had her dog at the time (15 years old pup) pass and she was totally in favor of a new addition. So I began the task of looking for a puppy. We live in NY and I could not find anything locally either because there were no pups on the ground or I did not like the breeding/breeders. So with that said I finally found a breeder/breeding I knew I would be happy with and contacted Corey Shirk of Vom Shirkhaus Rottweilers in North Carolina. Nice enough guy but always a bit of drama. After talking to him I put down a deposit on a puppy and waited for the little to be born. That litter only produced (By his word) a few puppies and he wanted to keep them. He gave me a choice of an alternate breeding which I was ok with however not as happy about. That litter produced no puppies so Corey opted to give me one of the puppies that was from the litter that I originally wanted. I was ecstatic and made plans to go pick up the puppy. My wife, son and I took the trip to North Carolina and drove to his home. The puppy was/is still beautiful. We received the AKC papers (Both parents are German Imports) and went home.
Here is where the issues start. (9 months later we again were looking for another puppy as a playmate for our first pup. I of course contacted Corey Shirk and started the process again. He said he had a Serbian puppy that was being birthed offsite that would be available and sent me a copy of some Serbian paperwork telling me that he was in the process of getting AKC paperwork for the Sire, Dam and the litter. He told me this paperwork would be ready by the time the puppies were ready to go, it was not. My wife and I made arrangements to pick up the puppy from what I figured was the breeder wher the puppies were in Virginia. We drove to the meeting place and met the couple delivering the puppy. No papers, cash deal over and done with. Normally I would not have taken the puppy without papers. I had raised and sold many puppies/dogs over the years and had never done so without properwork.
Anyway, not the reason I am writing this warning to everyone who wants to purchase a puppy. Buyer beware! It has been 10 month and this “Christian” man has made every single excuse about the papers and now refuses to return my emails, calls and texts. I paid $3,500 for the pup and this is a fair price for a papered puppy. I have given him every chance to make good and I am now at my wits end. He is making Rottweiler breeders and breeders in general look bad. I trusted this man to do the right thing because he had done so the first time. I am contacting the AKC, the BBB and possibly my Attorney to see what can be done. If you are going to deal with this guy Buyer Beware!

Corey is very knowledgeable and helped us get exactly what our family wanted. His communication throughout the whole process has been excellent and we couldn’t be happier with our new puppy. Highly recommend Von Shirkhaus
