Aryka of Vivid Chromatics Is FABULOUS!!! Went in for my first appointment with dry, processed hair in a tired & overgrown style (if one could call even call it a style! !!), all of which made me feel drab and invisible. Aryka has been my stylist for two years. She always comes to the table with ideas if I'm stuck in a style rut. She also knows what she's doing with color. She isn't afraid to tell you if something can't be done without damaging your hair (like trying to go platinum from dark hair!). To the other reviewer, I don't know any salon that outright offers a refund, without the opportunity to correct something if you're unhappy. Like most people, I'm extremely picky about my hair color. I'm a hair stylist myself, so I've just been doing my own hair. However, last time, I messed up. I needed to find someone who really knows fashion/vivid hair colors, as I like my hair to have an ombré effect of silver to purple. I'm very particular about how it's done. I researched Aryka and decided that she would be a good potential colorist. After sitting in her chair, I think I've underestimated her abilities! She is so incredibly knowledgeable about vivid hair colors (hence the name of her salon: Vivid Chromatics). I felt like I was in the best hands in Portland!  I cannot recommend Aryka enough. She flat ironed my hair perfectly after a good blow dry. No cut this time, but I'm sure we'll do so next time. And her prices are super reasonable. I've been getting not only my hair cut and colored by Arykah for nearly a year now, but my boyfriend and my son both go to her as well. My son and I in particular are very picky and pretty high maintenance about how we want our hair done and Arykah always delivers exactly what we want. She is  especially knowledgable about color and how to achieve really creative, interesting looks. She's very meticulous with her cuts and I never ever feel rushed or like she's trying to just get to the next customer like I've felt at some of the other shops in town. I have been going to Aryka for about 5 months now, and let me tell you- she is amazing. I have never had so many people compliment my platinum blonde hair! She has done many colors with my hair, but I decided to keep it blonde. I love my short hair so much, and she always nails it with her cut and bleaching. She knows what she is doing, is very professional, flexible and really fun to hang out with. I have modeled for her on several occasions and she is nothing short of a sweetheart. Seriously, I wouldnt trust anyone else with my hair. I have naturally thin hair and want someone who knows what they are doing.. and Aryka does.Plus- she is affordable! I have paid over 65+ dollars for a short pixie cut in the past, and I find it really cool that Aryka offers such great rates that dont cost me an arm and a leg. Aryka is the only person I would trust with my hair - her passion shows in the details. This new location is perfect for someone of her talent, this is not the kind of place that rushes you or takes multiple clients at the same time leaving you to awkwardly wait as you process - Aryka gave me a personalized experience. I didn't know what would look best on me so in the past I'd just end up with whatever the stylist recommended which was often disappointingly bland. When I went to Aryka she learned more about my personal style and helped me find what really matched what I was going for. It is clear she is in her element, she's got an answer to every question and well thought out reasoning behind everything - this is an independently owned and operated shop there are no employees. The salon is also unique in having only one seat, no talking to a receptionist, no waiting in line, no busy loud other customers to eavesdrop on your conversation - privacy and peace. Aryka is an amazing stylist, who knows her stuff! Inquire about any of her products and/or special needs for your hair type and she'll tell you exactly what you need. I went in for a haircut and hair thinning (I have extremely thick hair that is difficult to style/cut) and came out with impeccably soft and perfectly curled hair all done and ready for the evening :) Oh, prices are so affordable especially for the type of service you receive and, not to mention, Aryka is adorable and incredibly personable!
