Great dinner and service this evening.  Chante was our server and we all commented on how amazing she was.  I had the salmon that I just couldn' t get enough of not to mention ordering the asparagas grilled.  Perfect.  They are doing a great job adhering to social distancing practices and asking that you wear your mask if you need to get up to use the restroom or when not seated at your table.  For those of you that are still concerned with going out to eat you can be assured they are taking every precaution to keep everyone safe.  I was impressed.  Well done! New favorite Jackson restaurant! We had a reservation for a Friday night around 7:30 with a group of 4.We had excellent service (shout out to Star! ) and an awesome meal. We split crab cakes (2 per order) for an appetizer with our cocktails. For my main dish I had the ahi tuna with truffle potatoes and mushrooms. Literally delicious. They had live music as well which was the perfect volume and really added to the ambiance. So glad this place came to Jackson!Oh and I almost forgot to mention the bread. Soooo good. More...

This place brings a classy vibe to downtown Jackson! Our server Starr was a wonderful host and  the food was amazing! The crab cakes were a great app and you can' t go wrong with the bread. My sirloin was cooked to perfection and my wife's ahi tuna was prepared perfectly. The food wasn't only wonderful but the classy atmosphere brings a unique experience. To say we will be back is an understatement. I hope restaurants continue to pop up and restore a Jackson nightlife. If you want a nice night out or a drink with a great pour and classy live music, look no further. More...

We were excited to have the opportunity to try Downtown Jackson's latest food offering.  A good fine dining restaurant is something we've been in need of for some time. My wife and I went with another couple for a late night dinner. Remodel is fresh and the atmosphere was great. My only complaint here is I wish they had some sort of room divider/border wall so that you're not constantly distracted by the kitchen doors swinging open and the harsh lights of the kitchen. Sat at the bar and was a great time! Surprisingly good food, super chill vibe (live music singing a steady stream of nice 90s smooth rock). Great cocktail and wine list, Darren was a great server! I asked about the space (it used to be Darryls, which I couldn't place until I asked), and one of the servers gave us a tour upstairs - really cool space! Glad to see downtown Jackson with such a great place. We are from Chicago so have hundreds of amazing restaurants to pick from at home but we really enjoyed it here. More...

Visited from out of town - I was not expecting to have tasty sushi, but wow that's what I had. The sushi area is tucked into its own area on the side and the sushi chef makes it all fresh right there - she provided great advice on what to order. I had their Dragon roll and it hit the spot, even more so than the other sushi place in town. Beautiful atmosphere with multiple menu items I want to go back and try. I took the Key Lime dessert back to my wife, who is very particular about her key lime treats, and she was raving about it, so . Will definitely be back! More...

A wonderful addition to downtown Jackson! The atmosphere is wonderful, the wait staff are attentive, and the food is delicious. We had great wine, crab cakes, sushi rolls, and buttery beer and dill fish with truffle mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. A great place for date night! I'm excited to go back! More...

Granted, we did not go when it was chaotically busy but I will say that our experience was exceptional!!!  We went in for a drink at the bar and ended up trying a few different items on the menu, including a dinner (so much for our plans).  It did take a little longer than I would expect. However, I was having such a great time, I didn't care. The steak I ordered was phenomenal- I really can't express how great it was.  Not only was it cooked exactly as ordered, the flavor was great!!!  We aren't in Chicago so please don't compare.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Chicago, my home base is there and I stay a week out of the month but this is Jackson, Mi.  This is a great addition to the area. We decided to try Veritas for an impromptu Friday night dinner. Because we decided on Friday afternoon the 'plan ahead- we should make reservations' idea escaped us. We arrived around 5:30 on Friday evening and were told there was an additional walk-in party in front of us and so it would be a 'moment' before we were seated. One of our group asked if we could 'sit at the bar'. We were told we were absolutely welcome to sit at the bar. Our party of three proceeded to the bar where we were immediately offered water and a cocktail menu. We were unsure if we were eating at the bar or just having a cocktail and waiting for our table? We each ordered a different cocktail - and were satisfied with our orders. I'd read previous reviews and I wasn't sure what to expect, as far as service. I was pleasantly surprised; service was very attentive. For apps we tried the crab cakes and the rock shrimp. Both were decent, the rock shrimp was my favorite out of the two. For dinner we ordered steaks and seafood. I tried the mahi-mahi, blackened with the white truffle potato purée and creamed spinach The spinach was more spinach and less creamy - that's my only 'complaint' which really isn't a complaint. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We tried the chocolate Pot de Creme for dessert at our servers suggestion and we were not disappointed. Overall it was a nice evening in an enjoyable atmosphere with good food and great service. More...

Table for one. I waited five minutes while a floor manager setup a small table enough for two (though there were already a few available and set? ). I was greeted immediately by my waitress, Maria. She offered me water and to bring some fresh, hot bread while I perused the wine list and cocktail menus. All spirits and beers are on their own separate menu, while the wines are all listed at the end of the dinner menu. Interesting choice. I settled on a glass of French white Bordeaux. Mostly Napa Valley choices, so they could afford to branch out a little more. I had two focaccia to choose from: rosemary/thyme and garlic Parmesan. I chose the former, and it was exemplary: hot, decent crust but soft on the inside. Maria came back to take my order after an appropriate amount of time. I had dined here earlier in the day at lunch and knew that there were two dinner specials being offered, but she failed to mention them until I prompted her by asking if there were any specials. She then could not tell me what they were, except that one had lamb and they were out of that one. The other was a fish stew, but she would need to ask what was in it in order to describe it. I let her go. She returned to tell me the three varieties of fish in a cream based sauce. She failed to tell me it's served over polenta. I found out later chatting with the manager, Steve, that Maria is a new server and did not have much experience. I could tell, but she was hustling and trying, so props to her for that.I ordered the rainbow trout, sautéed, with the seasonal vegetables (brussel sprouts) and puréed white truffle potatoes. Huge serving- prepared perfectly! I prefer my sprouts to be more crisp, but that's a personal preference. Everything was full of flavor. The fish flaked beautifully; temperature was excellent; juicy and not over or underdone. Steve came to chat with me about all of these things and we had a lovely discussion about the chef, the restaurant, the soft opening they had, and other plans (brunch!). Overall, this restaurant is worth your attention, time, and money. They have some early growing pains, but nothing that will stop me from returning numerous times. I look forward to my next meal - cheers! More...

Being a new establishment this restaurant had the typical issues of a new place. Things were just a bit slow. BUT our sever was very friendly and our food was very good. I will say the house salad needs some refinement it is way too simple for this style of restaurant. I am excited to try them again in a few weeks once they have had the kinks worked out. More...

Just what our community needed! Great ambiance, broad menu as well. I came to the soft opening a few weeks back, and of course because this is new, there are kinks to work out but don' t throw the baby out with the bathwater! This is what Jackson needed, we've needed an upscale restaurant for quite some time and we finally got it. I hope this restaurant exceeds expectations. Well done, Veritas! More...

We were looking forward to opening day since found out Veritas was being planned.  We loved the food... service has a ways to go. We made reservations the day before. We came in jeans and felt we were punished when we were seated at at the worst table in the house. A table by busy kitchen doors that we basically shared with another couple. The service started out fast, but quickly slowed. We got apps and soup quickly, then had to wait a long time for drinks and entrees. The couple seated with us got their entrees quickly quickly. The server not very informative so we had no idea why entrees and drinks were so slow. The restaurant eing very new, I think the service part will improve... the food was a different story.... very good!Bread was great. Shades of Daryl's great bread.  My wife says the crab cakes are among the best she's ever had, and that's saying a lot. My fried oysters were very good. They had a nice oyster flavor and were not compromised by breading. We both really liked the lobster bisque, thick and rich and loaded with lobster. My wife loved her blackened chicken tortellini. My salmon with béarnaise was very good... not quite the flavor blast I was hoping for, but that's just me... it was well prepared. All in all a good experience.  We expect to come back, in khakis, and get five star service. More...

We came to their "soft opening" tonight with another couple - here's what we had: Walleye (very good), lobster risotto (very solid), blackened chicken tortellini (outstanding). In addition, their lobster bisque (good, but it had some unusual herb flavors), French onion soup (outstanding) and finally, their tuna sushi was very good (a bit spicy, but good). They have a good craft beer selection, and a decent wine list (but somewhat pricey).
