I came here from a recommendation from my boyfriend's mother - I'm from the city but hair salons there aren't as good as smaller business salons. I rarely get haircuts because I love the length of my hair and mostly go for trims.I was scheduled with Michelle and before we started, I let my hair down and explained what I wanted out of my haircut. I have veryyyy long hair (to my waist basically) and I told her that I wanted to keep the length but wanted some layers. When I showed her how short I wanted my layers, she quickly told me that it would not look appealing/borderline ridiculous and suggested a style that would look better to frame my face. I appreciated this because I obviously did not want to look like an idiot. At other salons I have been to, they have a separate "hair washer" for when you get shampooed/conditioned. The hair stylist washes your hair here - not a big deal, just something to note!Michelle made my hair look GREAT and exactly what I wanted! I cannot say enough good things about Velarde! I have been going here for over a year now and I have yet to experience anything less than exception service. At this point, I’ve had services from many of the girls and the service is always friendly and top-notch, no matter who I’ve had, but I’d like to mention some of the highlights:

I am a natural brunette and Raquel slaved to give me exactly what I wanted and made me a blonde bombshell! Not to mention her gel manicures are always flawless & long-lasting. She’s a rockstar!

A year ago Lil’ Mel styled my hair into a stunning French-twist, bouffant and it is still my favorite style to-date. I received so many compliments and I felt like a sexy vintage goddess!

Last but not least, Melissa is an absolute angel! She does an outstanding job welcoming you into her salon and making you feel at home. She is genuinely happy to see her clients and you feel more like you’re hanging out with a bunch of new friends than anything. I applaud her on creating such an awesome atmosphere and hiring such wonderful, talented people! She masterfully created the salon experience that I’ve been searching for all of my 27 years �

The salon itself is beautiful and I feel truly relaxed there, unlike any other salon I’ve been able to find in the Schaumburg area. It’s always a treat when I’m able to make it in. The small touches like refreshments go a long way in making you feel pampered. And the the prices are beyond reasonable for the quality of service and workmanship!

I recommend Velarde to everyone I know! I feel like I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow - I found my salon and i don’t ever want to go anywhere else! Make that appointment! You won’t regret it! More...
