I was skeptical about coming to a fancy pizza joint in El Cajon, but I didn't want to cook tonight so here we are. My boyfriend and I walked in and were immediately charmed by one of the employees here named Randy. He took our order promptly and got us what we needed right away and pizza was fantastic and the beer was top notch. We ordered a Gouda Garlic Alfredo Pizza and Cali Creamin' beer. The pizza was a good value and delicious! And to top it off, Randy had a genuine and honest personality that kept us here for longer than we intended. Never again. Ordered 2 pizzas to go. Got there and no one is masked. Not the guys making the pizza and not the servers. If they won't mask, what other protocols are they ignoring? On the drive home, we noticed you could NOT smell pizza! Odd. Got home, toppings and cheese were skimpy and the oddly cut slices were limp. I love thin crust, but this was a mess. Second home? Where we go when we don't want to cook? A good place to hang with friends? YES YES YES!! What I really love about Urbn is the staff. They are just the best people and it really shows. We likely would come here even if the food sucks which it doesn't- just to hang. Speaking of food if you haven't tried the mashed potato pie you really must. It is a strange combination that just works. Our other favorite is the barbecue chicken. Yum. Two other solid go twos include their wings and the Urbn salad. The pizzas here are humongous! They our ideal for large get together's and parties. A large will feed several people. Service was great, you can really taste the quality of their ingredients! They have a good variety available, you can create your own or choose one of their menu items. Dine in or call your order in for pick up which worked out extremely well and seamlessly. I've been to this location three times. Each time it was to meet up with my family that lives closer to this location.  It's at least an hour from me as I live further north.   Each visit has been great and enjoyable.  I have a URBN closer to me but it's much smaller. The pizza has been good and I like the thin crust.  I think this is the only place that I've ever had and liked potato on a pizza.  Who knew!?! The staffers were super nice and attentive to all our needs.  If you are looking for a nice pizza and brew.  Check them out.  I'd absolutely love to go here more often and I would if only I were closer.  Rush hour on the 52 isn't exactly favorable but worth it once you are finally there. Randy the manager stated that this location closes at 8pm 3 nights a week..  Google says different. Don't go here.. they are full of s**t. I called in for an order, when I got there all of of sudden their card machine "didn't work"... hahah.. EMPLOYEES SKIMMING CASH from the company. LMFAOOOOO. This place is amazing!! I had the small pizza which looked like a large..and had the pear salad...both outstanding! Wonderful experience.  Came on a Wednesday and it was not crowded.  A lot of beers on tap.  The mashed potato pizza was to die for.  They definitely know how to do any type of white pizza.  I have to name drop our server because he was very personable.  JK (his initials, not just kidding) was on top things and had good recommendations.  I mentioned to him that my wife and I were math teachers and he said he took the AP Calculus BC exam two years ago and got a 4. Oh man so so good. I unfortunately have to eat gluten-free but pizza is my favorite thing (was even part of my wedding dinner) and I refuse to live without it. I have been searching for a yummy pizza spot that could accommodate my dietary restrictions and I finally did. I am very happy I found URBN. My husband usually hates gluten free crust (which is fair because it resembles cardboard a lot of the time) but here he is happy to split a gluten free pizza with me! It's definitely not cheap but the portions are generous. We ended up having it two days in a row I was so happy to have good pizza again. Some of the wait staff is great and friendly, however our waiter never smiled once and it almost felt like we were inconveniencing him when we ordered or asked for something. We ordered Mashed potato pizza which sounds strange but ohh Mann it's so freaking good, the wings are super meaty and yummy. We had ordered an individual pepperoni pizza for my son but it never came. When we asked about it they weren't sure what happened but that was pretty much the response we got. We told our waiter to please just remove it from the bill because we never got it and our two kids weren't going to sit in the restaurant any longer. The second day we ordered it through their website which uses "Slice" to deliver. Unfortunately the restaurant forgot to give all the pizzas we ordered to the driver so I ended up having to drive and to get it myself. Which is definitely a bummer when you already paid a delivery and service fee. They did comp that pizza which I appreciated. Pizza is delicious! I recommend the mashed potato pie to everyone and have yet had someone who didn't think it was amazing! The only issue we ever had was over the summer. We sat on their outdoor patio and some old ladies who were friends with the hostess/waitress were allowed to hang out and smoke right next to us, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. They kept smoking and then going over to talk with the young lady who was at the front. It was lame because we had our baby, and we also just don't really enjoy cigarette smoke while we are eating. URBN has been a family favorite for years. It's s one of only two places we will go for pizza. However over the last few years the quality seems to be back sliding. I ordered a pizza and a side of Brussels sprouts extra crispy, no cheese as a carry out order. I picked up the order got home and the Brussels were burnt like charcoal and had cheese on top. I've NEVER been witness to food this burnt coming out of a kitchen. Its clear that the cook saw them, put cheese on top and sent them out anyway. The hostess obviously did not double check the order either as I'm sure no one would send out food like that. I called immediately and was told that they were closed so couldn't help me, and since I ordered though an app I need to contact them to get my money back. I have since contacted the app woth no response.  I decided that I would bring the side in to URBN in person to show the manager what the kitchen is pushing out. No manager was available. I did turn the food over to a nice gentleman at the front and asked that a manager call me. It's been 4 days and no one has contacted me. Don't eat here!! Had a hair inside my meatball then had a hair on my wings and the guy had the audacity to say because I had eaten 3 wings out of the 8 it was my fault. Tipped the waitress and paid the 11 dollars but wtf. Oh and I had already returned my meatballs that had 2 hairs inside the meatballs. First time back inside of urbn for my mom's bday. This is normally our routine for Sunday nights. However the crew is new and none of the pre covid staff was there. Of course we were bummed but that won't stop us from enjoying delicious pizza. However tonight the service was horrible. We asked for refills on our drinks. The girl brought the table behind us drinks and then took their order. After that she gave another table beer and we were missed all together. We had to ask another staff member to get our drinks. Then when it came time for the bill. Yeah never got that too. I had to finally walk up to the front and pay. Needless to say the tip wasn't great.Our pre covid experience was always top notch. Again saying this was our normal Sunday routine. We would walk in - Randy would have our drinks on the table before we sat down and our order was already put in. And guess what service like that got an extra zero in the tip that I left tonight. Nothing to say about COVID precautions. But plenty to say about the lousy pizza. First the crust is way to thin to bear the toppings. That's fine if you like it that way. If you don't your out of luck.. but it gets worse! Plan on a burnt crust filled with carcinogens. Seriously, across two large $29 pies more than half the slices were completely black on the bottom, like no one at the ovens was even paying attention! Again, if you like your crust burned (no it is definitely not charred!) good for you. If not, your screwed again! To top it all off is the waiter who seems to think he is funny but is actually just rude, if not out right offensive, especially to women.
