We were in town for an appointment at Cleveland Clinic and went to Urban Kitchen for dinner. The food was fantastic. I had the Cowboy Burger which was huge. It came on a toasted brioche bun, the meat cooked perfectly. It also had bacon, bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onions and fried onion crisps. My daughter had an Egyptian dish which was huge and delicious. I highly recommend coming here. The customer service was excellent and the prices were great for the amount of food you get. More...

Went for dinner on a tuesday night (12/13/22) and was not impressed except for one thing. Let me explain. From the menu I wanted to get the 12 oz Angus Ribeye Steak. My server proceeds to tell me that they have prime rib as a special tonight so I decided to go with that because it was not on the menu. She comes back out 5 minutes later saying that they are out of prime rib. Ok then, back to the original order of ribeye steak. She asked how I wanted it done and I said medium rare. I also opted to add garlic bread and a side salad. The Angus 12 oz Ribeye Steak($23.99), comes with Baby Red Mashed Potatoes and assorted Veggies. If you look at my pic, this was a sorry piece of meat. Basically, I think it was leftover prime rib that they threw on the grill. It was well done and very chewy. Was struggling just to cut it. At least it was well seasoned. The veggies taste like they were microwaved from a frozen state. Definitely had no flavor and was mushy. The mashed potatoes were actually pretty good. The gravy that came on it was the star of this plate. I actually dipped a couple small slices of the steak in it and it gave the lifeless steak some personality. I had to ask more of the gravy for it was that good. The Garlic Bread($1.99) was just your basic white toast with butter and garlic powder. It was just ok.The Side Salad($3.99) was a spring mix of arugula, sliced cucumber, red onions, cherry tomatoes, shaved slices of parmesan, and croutons. The arugula for this salad was wilted and dried out. I mean, they could have at least rinsed it with cold water to put some life in to it. The croutons were hard and salty. Only ate a couple. The only things good about this salad were the red onions, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and shaved parmesan cheese. Those are the only things I ate, dipping in the ranch sauce that came with it in a little cup.I also went ahead and ordered the half sandwich of the Rocky Balboa and one of their mocktails, a Pina Colada for my co-worker who was too lazy to come down from his room in our hotel to grab it.The Half Rocky Balboa($8.99), has Vienna corned beef, Romanian pastrami, double Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing on a deli rye bread. He didn't like rye bread so he opted for white bread.I waited another 25 minutes for this to go order. Don't know why it took so long for there were only a couple tables with customers. Finally I get the order and make my way back to the hotel to give to my co worker. The bad news, is that it took so long that he ended up eating leftover pizza from the night before. He didn't want the sandwich any more but still took the pina colada. The Pina Colada Mocktail(5.99) was basically liquid sugar! My co-worker took a sip and had to chase it with water! He got that itchy feeling in his throat, you know, that feeling of when you have had too much sugar. He didn't want it and gave it to me. I had to empty have of it into a tall drink cup and mix water with it just so that it would taste decent! So basically I made 2 drinks out of 1!As for the sandwich, I ended up eating it later that night because I only ate a little bit of my dinner. Now this sandwich was the saving grace compared to everything else I had and the main reason I am giving this place 2 stars instead of 1. The combination of corned beef, pastrami, Swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing was magnificent! So much flavor in every bite! It comes with seasoned fries and a pickle which was just ordinary. Service wise there seemed to be some sort of trickery with the steak and it took forever for the sandwich to come out so that's a negative.Overall, I would grade this experience in between a C- and a D+. Again, the Rocky Balboa is what made up for the bad experience food wise but not for the service. Also that half sandwich is a bit pricey at $8.99 but it is really good so it's worth every penny. That would be the only thing that will bring me back if I feel like taking a gamble of dealing with a long wait just for a sandwich and fries.Yelp 2022 Review #40891 overall More...

We drive to Cleveland from Buffalo, NY and we always stop here to eat! Their food is delicious and the atmosphere is adorable. I am obsessed with the mousakaa and get it every time! Last time we stopped in we spoke to the owner and got the recipe. He was incredibly kind and the food he makes is amazing! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a delicious and unique meal. Holy cow, the BEST FRIES EVER! I came in for some Egyptian food and when I saw a plate go by with a burger and fries, I re-checked the menu to see what else came with fries. I settled on the falafel wrap. Those fries were every bit as good as the very best of our home-made fresh fries and I'd come back for that alone. The wrap was delicious too, with pickles and turnip. It was very filling and big enough to take half of it home for later. There are so many great items on the menu I regret I didn't try this place sooner as my stay in Cleveland will end shortly.I ate in. The staff were very busy and seemed a little frazzled yet they were kind, helpful and attentive. I will be back as often as my stay allows. BTW, if you're driving, there is a parking lot behind the building and the restaurant has a back entrance with a sign. Cleveland Clinic shuttle will take you to the Residence Inn which is in the same building, and pick you up from there as well (in the event you're at a different hotel and without a car) More...

From the artwork, to the lighting fixtures, the food, and the staff.... Our night ended perfectly because of this place! There's a great selection of food including breakfast served all day & Egyptian dishes. I ordered a Greek gyro and fries, which was perfect! The meat was perfectly seasoned and I loved the lightly toasted wrap that it came in! My husband ordered a burger and fries, which he said was delicious. Our daughter asked our server for a suggestion and he recommended Mashawi. All three of us were impressed! Great portions and flavor! We'll definitely be back to try this place again! More...

Staying in Cleveland for some appointments at Cleveland clinic and stopped in for an early lunch. Friendly & helpful staff. We had the gyro omelette and corned beef hash with eggs. There's a sign on the door asking patrons to be patient and to appreciate the workers who have shown up as they are understaffed. They're not lying; be prepared to wait for your food. That said, both of the waitresses were smiling and pleasant. Yes, it took an unreasonable amount of time for my pancakes to be delivered, but the warning on the door...The food was nothing particularly memorable, but it was solid and fairly priced. Given how busy this part of town is (there are a ton of medical facilities), you'd expect more dining choices. Urban Kitchen is one of just a few places in the area to grab a meal. More...

I am a tinge nerdy about Egyptian food. I was fortunate enough to have spent time in Egypt enough to discern the real-deal from Americanized fare. This place offers a great selection of authentic fare! It also has a full menu of not-Egyptian choices if people in your group are less inclined to try new things. Their hummus is exceptionally smooth and flavorful. The pita that they serve with it is grilled just-so and cut into eigths instead of quarters. Order an extra pita...For my entree I selected Mashawi which is a selection of grilled protiens on rice with grilled veggies. The kofta, which is a portion of seasoned ground lamb was delicately flavored and well balanced against the green bell pepper and onions (grilled). The tawook (seasoned chicken) had great flavors and there were 4 or 5 large pieces. The cucumber based sauce had enough zing to stand up to the flavor palate of the proteins and vegetables. The rice was very good with cracked green cardamom floating about to give a surprising fresh flavor that was unexpected. Those of you who are unfamiliar with cardamom pods, think of them as bay leaves that went to the gym for some flavor bulking up. Like bay leaves, you probably wouldn't want to eat one directly. So when you see one, move it aside and enjoy whatever it has flavored. My dining buddy had the Kushery which is a vegan friendly dish. It is a mound of rice, macaroni, and lentils mixed and then topped with spiced tomato sauce, garlic vinegar (on the side), garnished with chickpeas and a none too insignificant mound of crispy fried onions. My sample was authentic and delicious. The Kushery led to a lovely discussion of North Egypt food preferences versus Southern Egyptian preferences. These differences are as pronounced as our own here in America. They have an expanded dessert menu that recently debuted. We both opted for the Rice Pudding which was a VERY generous portion and was very very delicious!A quick note about portions. Here, they are authentic, which is to say: ample. You will be able to share and still have a large amount to take home. So, the customer service was pleasantly informal and prompt. We had a charming conversation with our server Sara and the owner. If you want to try something a bit different than your usual fare, I highly recommend this place.Your mileage may vary. More...
