Jesse is the best instructor. By far the best and most competitively priced flight school in Southern California.

I'm a current student at upper limit aviation, I'm thoroughly enjoying my experience getting my pilot's license with this company, the staff are all very professional, thorough and consistently on point. The aircraft maintenance record is always in check and I feel very safe using they're plane and flying with my instructor Alex. I highly recommend anyone who's looking at getting their aviation license to do it with these guys and gals in my opinion they are superior. More...

I brought my daughter here for her PPL after she took the ground portion in highschool. From the start the staff was amazing. Lois the owner took time on a few occasions to speak with me directly to resolve any concerns I had. Her flight instructor Tyson was the best I could have asked for, friendly, skilled and knowledgeable. He took the time to speak with me directly along with everything else he did for my daughter. Great school, you can't wrong investing time and money here. More...

The machines: I was a part 61, I have flown with cessna 172 and I have to say they are extremely well kept. Loaded with top of the line features and regularly maintained with crafty crews. If you want to train on a reliable machine, this is the place I will strongly recommend. (five star for machine and maintenance)The mentors/cfi: I have flown with two CFIs a lot and one CFI a bit. Out of three one of them had a lot of non civil experience. one of them had a lot of civil-CFI experience and one of them is fairly new CFI. In my opinion, the quality I am always looking for in a CFI area) clear cut vision and plan for your need b) Detect the problem the way I maneuver c) Understand what is wrong with that approach qualitative, quantitative, mentally. d) Help me to correct that by demonstrating what does change, I do not care for the CFI if they missing any of the above, unfortunately, all the CFI I have met at upper limit aviation and elsewhere lack them at various degree. But, finally the last CFI from whom I received training was extremely nice person which made up for some of the lacking he had. Location: I am divided on this issue. Here is what I find.pros: You will train in a international airport on a class B airspace. cons: you have to be a almost pro (if not a pro) to be able to navigate in and out of class B. You will spend more hours because of sequencing and other issue so the money adds up. The relative training cost in a class B airspace is relatively higher compare to other class such as D, E.the staffs: very welcoming and extremely approachablefinally, the owner: the owner is the one of the few nicest person I have met in Salt Lake area. Extremely welcoming and accommodating. She will understand your need and will make adjustment in the busiest schedule. She will prioritize your need to her best ability which I appreciate the most (Please do keep in mind, not everything is in her control). Final note: I have started training in Bountiful Flight (one another school near by for which them if I can say one thing, cheaper is not the best solution) and compare to the experience I would grade them as follows, Upper Limit Aviation grade: B+, Bountiful Flight grade: F More...

I have worked with Upper Limit as a student for nearly 4 Years. I started with my Private pilots license, followed by my Instrument rating and Commercial License. I’m currently working on my Flight Instructor certificate. I have been a private pay student through the whole process. I have to say the structure and quality of training surpasses that of many of the other schools across the states. Learned by communication with friends/students that attend other flight training programs. The professionalism of the instructors and thoroughness is and will always be appreciated along with the fun and easy going atmosphere. They have a program that sets you up for success in this crazy industry. I would highly recommend Upper Limit Aviation to any of my peers who have the slightest interest in becoming a helicopter pilot, whether it be for a hobby or a career. More...

My girlfriend and I decided to try this company out at the wineries on Saturday and I must say I am extremely, extremely impressed. Just to start I found this company through Matthew who was so patient with us with all the questions that we had, thoroughly explained the whole process how it works and had so much knowledge about the pilots and their background which was equally impressive. There was not one question that was unanswered professionally and promptly. Not only did they escort us to the area of loading/ unloading they also were very professional going over all direction and were sure that we knew we would have the utmost comfortable experience and made sure there was nothing else we needed. Big shout out to both pilots Tyler and Carl that flew us as well I've never been behind somebody flying an aircraft that close but I can see their passion and attentiveness which was so awesome and made us feel at ease!!!!!!I would absolutely recommend this company to anybody and will also be looking into doing it again!!!!! I have flown with 3 different flight schools across the country, and thus far I'd have to say ULA is my favorite. Fact of the matter is, there are a lot of flight schools out there, all of which will have their own positives and negatives. what has won me over with ULA are the instructors. I am currently working through my helicopter certifications but have also spent time flying with one of their fixed wing instructors as well. Regardless if you're fixed wing or rotor you'll find the highest level of professionalism and respect. The instructors (like many others) are not just there to milk you for all you're worth, each and every one of them genuinely care about their students and will do everything to give you the best advice and point you in the right direction. Furthermore their maintainence department is on point, the aircraft are well maintained and ready to fly when you are. I fly with Bryce C and Jake A, both are great instructors and they work extremely well together. Sure they may not be the cheapest flight school out there (and price can be important because we know helicopters are expensive!) but the long list of pros far outweigh any negatives. Finally, in my opinion taking off out of Class B airspace (at SLC) is beneficial as well. It's good to get that experience in now rather than waiting until later. With all that there is a small list of things that are negative as well. Primarily being that again, there are schools that are cheaper in the area. Sure it might only be a difference of $20 an hour but it adds up overtime. And my only other complaint is that their school in UT is not longer part 141, meaning you can't get a college degree in aviation and go here. They have a location in CA that is 141 which offeres great diversity for their students. However because they are no longer part 141 in UT they seem to invest the majority of their resources and aircraft in the school in CA. For those of us that moved 2400 miles to fly in Utah (like myself) it can be a bit upsetting. I'm hopeful they will eventually expand on their UT location and what services they offer but only time will tell. In conclusion, flying is expensive, but it's also one of the most rewarding things a person can do in my opinion. So take your time. Do your research and don't be afraid to go and meet with the instructors or even go for a quick flight with them. What works for one person may not work for another, we all learn in different ways. So make sure the school you pick is the right one for you. PS. If you're looking into fixed wing at ULA ask for Amanda. She's the bomb, also very knowledgeable. More...

My son loves aviation, so for his 7th birthday we got him an intro flight in a Helicopter. Initially we ran into some minor bumps waiting for the Helicopter's new paint job (which was not ULAs fault). However, ULA more than made up for it. The kids are going for their first Helicopter ride. You can buy a kid a toy, which will last a few weeks before they move on, or you can create a childhood memory, which they will never forget and it might even inspire them to become Pilots themselves. Thank you!!!! More...

This review is in 2 parts. The first is the actual flight which is FIVE STARS PLUS!!!  JP was the instructor on my Groupon flight. He was FANTASTIC!!!  I was simply astonished about the stick time I got. I was maybe expecting half the hour's time, but I'd say it was over 90%.... Starting with rotating up at take off!!!We took just about the whole hour, and I was surprised when JP said he would land, and then we'd take off and land again, with ME taking part control! The loss of the star is in the administrative part...  When I first called to set the appointment, I was connected to someone in Salt Lake City asking for my Heli ride. I was then informed my Groupon for Fixed wing in Murrieta was a "mistake" but I could call back and see if flights were available. So I finally call, but was asked to call back the following week when a plane/pilot were available. When calling the following week, there was a wait for the pilot/maintenance.  The one thing that was missing was the 30 minute flight school. I would have enjoyed that as well, but I wasn't going to press the point either. Pro staff, great experience! More...

I've been looking at flight training options in the southern California area, including Upper Limit. The French Valley airport, where this flight school is located, is very nice, sort of a peaceful and quiet area.
