I've never gotten a massage before and saw good reviews on Unwind Wellness Center, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I purchased a 30 minute Unwind Signature Massage and thoroughly enjoyed the massage. The front desk worker was kind and prompt, and the facilities were clean. I wanted to recommend Unwind to anyone who is sore or just needs to relax with a massage. I went there for a couples massage and was welcomed by Alexa at the front desk - excellent customer service and she was willing to help with anything we needed. Paulo and Guacira took care of the service and I don't think we could've left any happier. They're professionals but funny and caring at the same time. My boyfriend was really sore and by only touching his feet, Guacira knew which area he was in most pain. I received a 90 minute deep tissue massage from Max and it was exactly what I wanted. I carry a lot of tension in my shoulders and my neck so I asked Max to focus on these areas and he did a great job. I usually have to ask the masseuse to apply more pressure, but Max has very strong hands and was able to provide the "hurts so good" feeling I prefer in my massages.I don't care for lower body massages and I let Max know. He did do some lower body massages, which I think was appropriate to make the massage a total body experience. But he did as I asked and really focused on my shoulders and my neck. I felt comfortable and Max was very respectful of my privacy- moving and rearranging the sheet to make sure I was never exposed. I'd definitely come back and recommend Max to anyone who's looking for a strong masseuse who can really loosen up tight muscles and knots. More...

I couldn't recommend this place more. All the therapists I've had are great. Particularly Dalcizo, Osmar and Magnolia. Also the receptionist (whoever was working tonight 4/1 Monday) is absolutely awesome. She adjusted my appointment time since I was stuck in traffic and was so nice when I arrived. I was in town visiting and desperately needed a massage. I found Unwind on Yelp and made an appointment. Shortly after I arrived they told me my therapist was unable to come in and they asked if I would mind another therapist.  At first I was mildly perturbed because the massage was not starting on time. About ten minutes later Daniel arrived and we preceded with the massage. He was extremely professional and apologetic that I had to wait. He explained they called him from home to come give my massage. The massage was amazing and it made me completely forget the late start. He is very talented and attentive. I highly recommend him. As I checked out, I truly had forgotten about the delay and the change of therapists. The lady at the counter, who was very apologetic and helpful told me she discounted my rate because of the change in therapist and the delay. I thanked her and left. My experience was amazing and I planned on writing a good review. About ten minutes after leaving I received a phone call from the lady at the front counter. She again apologized for the inconvenience. She said she told her boss and he was unhappy with the discount and wanted her to give me a bigger discount. Um is there a way to give 10 stars? I was super stressed at work and needed a great massage. I'm so used to used Soothe because it's convenient (house call massages) However their prices have shot up plus I wanted a full experience. I read reviews upon reviews and thank god stumbled upon Unwind. The adage that you get what pay for holds true here. Every review raves about Max so obviously I had to request him he's such a kind soul who knows exactly how to manipulate your body to target your areas of need. He even used hot stones and towels during the massage - and the bed was heated! Glorious. When you flip over at the end literally out of the hundreds of massages i have gotten never once was I given a nice pillow except here wow it's literally the small touches that make this place stand out! Very professional and friendly environment. The staff were able to squeeze my wife and I into their schedule with a last minute reservation and did everything to ensure all our needs were met. I've been coming to Unwind now for several years and I can honestly say they're the best place to get a massage in the DMV. The staff is so friendly and the decor is beautiful, but what really stands out above all else is the quality of the massages I've gotten here. I have three pinched nerves in my neck and every time I come the therapists are so incredibly knowledgable and talented. The massages I get here really help me manage my pain better than anything else I've tried. I'd recommend this place to ANYONE with back pain, or if you just want to treat yourself. My boyfriend and I wanted to do a couple's massage and after many yelp searches and googling, I came across Unwind in Adams Morgan. Very easy on-line booking and ample time options to accommodate busy schedules. Great experience from the moment you walk in, low lighting, very serene.   There was little or no check-in or waiting time. We were brought to the massage room immediately which was very well done, spacious and peaceful. Absolutely loved the décor and aesthetic. The therapist asked what areas needed focus and immediately she targets those muscle groups and follows my requests with confidence and consideration. First time at Unwind and it was exceptional. My girlfriend and I did the couples massage and we were both very impressed. The customer service was excellent . They offered champagne, different kinds of hot tea, and water. In addition, the staff was polite and they constantly checked on us to make sure we were doing okay. They definitely made us feel welcomed.As far as the massage, I told them to focus on my mid to upper back and my legs and they performed techniques to really release the tightness in those areas. I walked out feeling amazing and helped with my recovery after a long week at work and at the gym. I have had a few deep tissue massages before. It was such a pleasant experience at unwind. I had a terrible backache during my trip to DC and had to find someone to get a massage. Found this place and called, the person who answered the phone was so helpful, she told me about the street address which had a different entrance address to save me a lot of agony to try to find the place as an out of town visitor, and when I arrived, She was so welcoming and I was unwinding already! The massage therapist Paulo's technique and calming demeanor relaxed me and I was able to walk out comfortably after one hour. My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed our couples massage here at Unwind Adams Morgan! Paul did an amazing job caring for me with the proper amount pressure and being mindful of my 14 week old baby bump. I was so relaxed, I'm pretty sure I started drooling at some point and didn't even bother to get it. My boyfriend was snoring a bit so it's safe to say he enjoyed his massage as well. Me and my girlfriend are visiting from the UK and booked a couples massage here for Valentine's Day after reading some great reviews. What an amazing experience it was, calming, relaxing and professional. We have had many massages back in Europe and this was by far one of the best places we've been to. The couples massage room is a wonderful space and we were made to feel very welcome from the minute we walked in and met our therapists, they individualised the treatments to our needs and worked out the tensions held in our upper backs. They ask what pressure we would like and got it spot on, I asked for strong and I wasn't disappointed. The knowledge of anatomy and physiology was second to none and we both came away feeling refreshed and relaxed. Even received a free glass of champagne before leaving! Never going anywhere else while I'm in the area. Just had my first massage yesterday, and it was a sublime experience. Antonio (the owner) was there to greet me at the door and was extremely welcoming and professional. My massage therapist was Julie, who was very kind and patient as I asked some newbie questions. I had a 60-min 'signature' massage and it was the perfect mixture of soft and medium pressure for my back. She did a fantastic job, especially on my tight upper back area. Room was comfortable and everything was clean. As I went to complete my payment, I mentioned that I originally booked under the early bird special listed online. Antonio didn't believe they were offering that special anymore (outdated ad or something), but still gave me the discount due to the confusion. In thanking him I said this entire experience was a birthday treat to myself, and he got so excited and disappeared in the back to get me "a surprise." While I waited for a couple minutes, the friendly receptionist and I chatted about travel, until Antonio suddenly appeared through the front door with a cupcake in hand. He literally walked over to the nearby cake store to buy me a birthday cupcake. I was floored by the thoughtfulness and care he and his staff take with their customers. I haven't even been in for my appointment yet, but their customer service thus far has been kind and helpful. When scheduling my appointment online, I accidentally scheduled it for the next day instead of in 2 weeks. I am out of town, so I obviously did not show up for the appointment and so, following their fair cancellation policy, I was charged. I called Unwind and explained what happened, and they refunded me (which they did not have to do), and they also helped me to reschedule the appointment for the correct date. Unwind Wellness Center is a real gem - wonderful professionals and fantastic customer service!I received a gift certificate as a birthday gift, and booked a deep tissue massage. The experience was really nice - my masseuse did a lovely job - but it wasn't really a deep tissue that I had expected - more of a regular massage. I mentioned it to the receptionist while checking-out, and within 5 minutes I had a message from the owner, Antonio, that he would like to bring me back for a deep tissue massage on the house. I was blown away by his immediate reaction and absolute commitment to excellence. He did not want me walking out of his salon without 100% satisfaction. A few weeks later I returned for a deep tissue massage with Max.  The experience was extraordinary - probably the best deep tissue I have had in my entire life. I walked away almost floating on air! After receiving a referral from a friend, I knew I had to make a reservation for my mom and I to leverage their couples massage option. It was a thank you gift to her for helping me move to a new state. And boy did we both need it. The space is cozy and quaint in an unassuming row building. We didn't exactly know where to go once we walked in, but soon realized to check-in, to go to the left on the main floor. We were asked to sit in the small lobby area and fill out some initial paperwork. One of the massage therapists came down to greet us and shook our hands with introductions. We followed him upstairs to a private room that was dimly lit and had soft comforting music playing in the background. He introduced us to his colleague and then gave us some privacy to change, though we didn't quite realize that was the intention at first. He came back to check a few times, though we weren't quite ready as we had layers and boots to decloth. They were both friendly and asked us what kind of massage we were looking for. I expressed that I'd like a deep tissue but had some problem areas specifically I'd like addressed. He then explained he would be focusing on all over body, including arms and feet. I didn't feel as if our sheets were read over thoroughly or that my problem areas were specifically addressed. But it was an all around good experience; very relaxing. He did follow through with a traditional deep tissue massage with firm pressure which I liked. My mom felt great afterwards and felt like her needs were met. My massage therapist worked on my face, specifically at the temples and eyebrows; my mom's did not. It would have been nice to know ahead of time as I was wearing some makeup. I discovered Unwind back in 2015 and I only come here for a massage! I see Max as he has strong hands to get all those hard knots out! He's such a Delight! I only book 1.5 hour massages as it's a true treat! If you are tense and feel achy, visit Unwind! I suffer from Endometriosis and other ailments and getting a massage here makes the joints feel better. I honestly couldn't believe there's a 5 Star anything in DC, but this place definitely deserves it. I was able to easily book online and a few hours before the appointment. So many options, plus you can pick a specific masseuse or a male or female. I just chose the anybody option because I just love massages and don't care who give me one (I'd let a stranger massage me in public, that's how much I love them). As a nice touch, they called before my massage to make sure a male masseuse would be fine and I confirmed. Got there an it's a nice relaxing environment. I got a deep tissue massage from I think Dalcizo Desouza. My complaint from the few professional massages I've gotten before is that they were never strong enough (except for one in Korea and man did that one hurt, but felt so good after) but this one was strong enough and fixed a lot of knots I had in my shoulders. If you are looking for a place to relax and have the best massage this is the place for you. I have had several therapists there, including Guacira, Paulo, Georgi (that works in GT location), Danielle and Max. They were all amazing, all of them have different styles and thecniques. I love Guacira because she does reflexology as well and knew exactly where I need the most work. Paulo was very strong when I needed to release the pain I had in my back. Danielle is just out of this world, she has a light of its own and makes you feel so relaxed and in peace, I normally go with her when I’m having a very stressful day, she knows how to take all of that from my body, she is amazing with essential oils as well. Georgi is strong and specialist in finding those knots you need Desperately to get rid of. First time visiting Unwind and will definitely be back. Had a 60 minute deep tissue massage with Tamara who was AMAZING - seriously, she is a miracle worker. I've been to so many different massage locations in DC and Tamara is the first who used really firm pressure (which is what I like) AND seemed to really know the anatomy/physiology needed to make the massage therapeutic. I have been to other places where if you ask for firm pressure they sort of just dig in and beat up on your back haphazardly, but Tamara used firm pressure while carefully releasing the knots and using active release-type/stretching techniques. Will definitely be back and will be requesting Tamara!P.S. Some people below commented about how it's cold in the basement rooms. I was worried about that when I booked but in fact they seem to have taken customer feedback and added heated pads on the tables. I was toasty (but not too hot) and very comfortable! More...
