The beef brisket sandwich was outstanding. Just the right of smokiness...not overpowering. The meat was tender. The BBQ sauce had a nice sweetness, again, not too sweet. Good service also.

Twelve01 was convenient, so we thought we'd give it a try. Our server was personable and appropriately attentive. If we are in the area, we will consider stopping by again. Stopped by Twelve01 after an afternoon of errand running with my husband.  While we did not eat a meal we will most certainly return and do so.  Reason?  Joey the bartender was the most active, energetic and polite food service person we have seen in a long time.  He didn't stop moving; refreshing the supplies, cleaning the bar, serving patrons and especially making everyone who came in feel welcome.  This establishment must be doing something right to have such a fabulous guy.We look forward to a meal at Twelve01. Well... I guess I agree with the majority; 4 stars.  Hard to go wrong here.  Right off I-80 adjacent to a couple of hotels.  We went for lunch.  Huge portions of solid food.  Had sandwiches, burgers, flatbreads between our group.  The parents could hardly finish.  The 17-year-old loved that he wasn't hungry afterwards.  Good choice of food and drink.  Very good local beer choices.  Waitress was friendly.  We had a longish wait for our initial food - but only because there was a party of 16 in front of us - and the waitress apologized for the delay. Solid place to be.  I got the tableside guac (recommended on the menu) and it was really good. Fresh guac is so tasty.  Since I'd had one item starred on the menu as recommended, I continued the theme and tried the Herky's Mac and Cheese as well. Flavorful grilled chicken on top of well-made mac and cheese made for a nice meal. Combined with the guac, definitely no need for dessert!  I was in the bar area, which has a good atmosphere, multiple TVs for watching sports, and appears to be well-kept.  If you're staying at either of the hotels right there, this is a no-brainer.  Haven't eaten out on the patio yet, but I'll be back to try that when the weather is nicer. I came here a second time and was very disappointed. On Fridays they have a prime rib special (comes with 2 sides of your choice) for $25. I was really looking forward to that. But unfortunately, the service was terrible. I sat at the table by the hostess for at least 20 min and still did not get acknowledged by anyone (several servers walked by and ignored us and were in the corner talking and still kept ignoring us), so I went directly to speak to the manager. Long story short, after speaking to the manager we decided to sit at a different table, since at that point we were really hungry and ordered the prime rib. The quality of the meat was good, but meat and asparagus were too salty for me. Honestly wished that the food made up for the service, but it didn't. I really liked my first experience here, but now I don't think I'll be back. More...

Came here the first time because the restaurant is in our hotel and we just wanted booze.  If you have read my other reviews, I complain about the lack of local brews on menus.  This place has a local-only tap list, the first I have seen anywhere. Fantastic. Five stars. During my two visits here, I tried six, all very good. My wife kept ordering the Pink Cadillac mixed drink that comes with a dark red or pink ice cube. The manager is super nice. He stopped by both times and asked how we were doing, and remembered we had been there before. The staff wore University of Iowa shirts both nights, which is cool. When in Rome ... Overall service five stars. The second time around, we brought our freshman daughter who goes to Iowa.  The place was packed. More libations, and food.  We got the custom avocado with chips that is prepared at your table. I got the Twelve01 Sunrise burger, which is a ridiculous combo of Chorizo and beef, a fried egg and hashbrowns. Okay, so I think I have found my niche in life, which is craft beer and burgers with egg. I am like a moth to light ... that Sunrise burger, wow, I have found burger Shangri La, except, like, it is the real deal. Five enthusiastic stars. I want to go back to Coralville just so I can try their other items, like the BLT avocado egg sandwich ... I am certain it will be top notch. So, there I have said it. We will be back. More...

After being seated by hostess, we waited 20 minutes without anyone coming over to acknowledge us, which was made more frustrating by the fact they had several workers near our table socializing. At that point the table next to us even made a comment on how long we had been waiting so we decide it was time to go tell management.   Overall, they were apologetic but it mostly just ended up being an awkward encounter.I ordered the prime rib, which was cooked well but was pretty much ruined by the super salty sauce ( don't expect anything resembling au jus). Asparagus was also a salt bomb.  Would say price of restaurant simply does not match ambience, service, or food. More...

Ordered the 1/2 pound burger with pork belly, sauteed onions, and cheddar cheese with no tomatoes or pickles. Was called that they were out of pork belly, OK. Told them to give me bacon. They did not adjust the price for this. Burger was OK, appreciated the fried egg on it though it was overdone, paid $18 for a quality $11 burger. Paid $10 for the worst cheese curds I've ever had, and I've had a lot of gas station cheese curds. They tasted like shite plastic Kraft "cheese product" rolled in stale bread crumbs and soaked in some ambigious oil. It was about $30 for a decent burger with good topping options and the worst cheese curds of my life. And I am a cheese curd aficionado. Their description, "quality craft beer breaded Wisconsin cheese curds" is an insult to cheese AND beer, two very sacred things in the Midwest. And to add insult to injury, the portion size of cheese balls was SMALLER than $3 gas station cheese curds that are WAY better than those pathetic crisps. This place must have an incredible atmosphere, I got my stuff delivered (insane $7 delivery fee + $2 processing fee to come 6 minutes from downtown on a Monday night) to get a garbage side and average burger. It was almost a $40 order for an entree and disappointing side. Can not recommend any other restaurant, bar, or popsicle stand enough More...

I'd give the service 3 stars and the food 1, so I averaged out my score. To be fair, we stopped here to eat about half an hour before they normally close, right after the big football game let out. I'm sure they were unexpectedly hammered with a large crowd close to closing. I'll try to be concise and constructive, because I think this place has potential and maybe we somehow just hit an off day. A party of 5, we showed up around 9:30 and were greeted and sat in about 15 minutes. That was great. We got our menus, started looking them over - fantastic! Everything sounded so yummy. Our waiter came up to take our drink order, my husband ordered an old fashioned and I ordered one of the signature cocktails. The rest of our party got sodas or water. It took about 15 minutes for the waiter to come back... only to let me know that they were out of the syrup needed to make my drink. I was totally okay with this - end of the night, busy crowd - except at this point no one had gotten any of their drinks, not even the non-bar drinks. Since we had been waiting a while, we asked if we could just order. Our waiter gladly took our orders and I picked out a new cocktail. It was probably another 10 minutes or so before anyone got their beverages. At this point we've been there 20+ minutes without a drink. Again, I understand about the bar being backed up but we should have gotten our sodas or waters or something. It would have made the waiting more tolerable. The second clue to how our night was going to go was the cocktails themselves. My husband's old fashioned was watered down with mostly melted ice cubes, and aside from the crushed cherry and a splash of whiskey was not made correctly. Like, not even remotely the correct ingredients. My "margarita" came in a pint glass, also with melted down ice, and tasted vaguely fruity with some sort of carbonation. It was missing the hibiscus salt rim and fancy ice cube that sold me on the menu, and although the flavor wasn't terrible, it was neither a margarita nor a $10 drink.  We hoped the kitchen was having a better night than the bar.Our waiter would periodically check on us to see if we needed beverage refills, and at one point, about 30-40 minutes after we ordered, came to apologize that the kitchen was backed up. Our food was delivered at 10:50. We ordered sometime between 9:50-10:00. This is almost ONE HOUR we waited on our food.I'm not sure what was happening in the back of the house, and how much was the kitchen and how much was our server, but something clearly went sideways. The food was... disappointing to put it politely. My husband and another of our party both ordered the prime rib (their special). My husband's was overcooked and dry.The other prime rib was cooked more like a prime rib should be, a little pink in the middle and not so dry, however the "garlic bread" that he ordered to go with it was a slice of toasted french bread with butter, and completely without garlic. The "Absurdly Addicting Asparagus" that both my husband and I ordered? My husband got some yellowish, stringy, stalks lightly coated with flavorless olive oil. My order had a few more green stalks than yellow, but there was zero flavor and the asparagus itself was just... sad. With a name like absurdly addicting I expected more. I ordered the scallops as well, and while the flavor was fine the were a little chewy, probably sat under the heat lamp with my husband's prime rib. (The avocado mayo they were topped with had that signature crust of being exposed to heat for a while.) The French Onion soup that another of our party ordered was declared pretty good. The chopped salad was passably okay, with the ranch dressing the highlight of that dish.  The Amish chicken had great herb flavor, but it, also, was a bit dry and the baked potato it came with was also dry (maybe a theme here). No one finished their meal except for the soup, and my brother in law who ordered the decent prime rib. At the end of the meal, the host came over to apologize for how long it took for our food to get there, and asked if it was "worth the wait." We just nicely said that we would rather not answer that question.I think one of the biggest hurdles this place has to overcome is its menu. If you're going to use descriptors like "dusted in creole seasoning" or "herb rich compound butter" or "hand sliced crostini" or "absurdly addicting" your food has to live up to the high expectations you've set.  Staff was friendly, but it felt as if everything they did was slow-motion. We overheard the bartender asking one of the tables "if their sandwich was okay" because "they didn't eat any of it" and from what we could catch of the customer's reply, we weren't the only table finding the food a bit lacking. With all this being said, I would give this place another shot. I'd probably come during happy hour, when the weather is nice and I can sit on the patio. More...

Saw sign on highway and checked Yelp. Disappointed at four-star rating, cause it really wasn't. Burgers do not come with cheese (waited five minutes to get slices on plate so food was cold by the time we put it on the burger) and a medium was over cooked. Daughter described it as "plain burger off the grill, and I was the 50th in line to get one." Salmon burger was tasty but had no tarter sauce or hardly any mayonnaise -- again, had to wait to get some. Fries were good. Tea was good. Service was very friendly and helpful.
