Tuscany italian restaurant

Food was delicious; garlic knots and salad just ok. Issue was the server when we used our Groupon. I told her we had one and she said that's fine. I noted the Groupon mentioned that we should add our gratuity based on the full amount and not just on what I paid for the Groupon. When the bill came, she said she added a 20% gratuity per the Groupon policy. Wrong!!!! That might have been "her" policy, but she should not have done it. I was shocked that someone would be so presumptuous to do that!! I immediately contacted Groupon when we left and they confirmed that the merchant should not have added the gratuity and they were wrong to do so. BEWARE of this issue if you dine here!!! More...

Food was mostly excellent-especially enjoyed PEI mussels in zesty tomato sauce. Tuscany Paella sauce was excellent, but rice didn't have creamy texture and oysters tasted steamed and bland. Ambiance was enjoyable, although a little loud as a few birthday parties had overindulged. Slight negative-two items on day's specials were unavailable, which speaks of poor planning for a special. Awesome food and generous portions from a strip mall Italian restaurant. We got there for our 7:15 reservation on a Tuesday evening and the place was packed. Sadly they had run out of the Flounder specials which is what I had wanted so I had to quickly decide for a second best which was Paella. Hubs got the Saltimbocca alla Romano which was veal with handmade linguine. Hubs won as his dish was so very flavorful, full of subtle spice blends but overall not at all spicy. The veal was so fresh and the pasta was incredibly delicious. Sadly the oysters in my dish tasted as if they were meh, bland without any flavor despite being dipped into the Paella sauce. The shrimps were huge as were the scallops, bonus! The risotto was flavorful from the sausage slices which were on the thin side. For appetizers we definitely scored ordering mussels in a spicy sauce but I can tell you that it was not spicy but full of delicious flavor. I wish I had a different word than flavor to describe it, but I don't. So refreshing to have mussels in a red sauce instead of a white wine and garlic sauce. It came with a large salad so no need to order a separate salad. The garlic knots were very addicting according to Hubs, he he. We had to put the generous portion far, far away from him. The reason I gave it one less star is because they charge 3.75% on top of whatever your credit card charges if you choose to use it. Make certain you have enough cash for the meal. Also the ladies room definitely needed long term care as the floors were sticky from the moment I had walked in and paint was missing from the bottom if using the disabled more roomy one. Quite an unexpected downfall from the spectacular dining experience. (Btw no disabled person was there so I didn't feel bad about using that space.) We are three ladies visiting from NoVA who happened to find a Groupon for Tuscany Ristorante Italiano. What a find! We started our meal with crab & cheese crostini-mmmm! Yum! Then a lovely salad with the most delicious Italian dressing was brought to the table with garlic knots and a shaker of parm cheese. Delicious! Our entrees were the Trio Parmigiano, the Paella and the Fradiavolo. The shellfish in the Paella and Fradiavolo was plentiful and fresh. The trio of parm was shrimp, chicken and veal served with a generous portion of pasta. This was one of the best Italian meals we’ve ever had and we will be back. Veal Parmigiana, Farfalle Tascano. Just a few of Tuscany's fabulous menu items. Red sauce is outstanding. Every meal is very generous in size. I had a birthday dinner for my husband at Tuscany. Finally!  A decent Italian restaurant in Williamsburg.  Have now eaten there twice in the last month. Both times my wife and our meal was very good.  Try their 'Asiago pasta' dish. Very good very tasty. Also their Fra Diavlo excellent. Good sauces. GREAT service. Ask fir either George or Anastasia both are lovely and attentive.   Good wines at great prices also.  Just can't understand why people love Murizios and haven't discovered this place. As relatively new residents of Williamsburg we've been sampling different restaurants around town.  This one popped up on our radar based on the menu as there were some great sounding dishes on it.  We had a reservation and when we arrived our table was setup with menus in place.  Service was prompt and friendly.  We started with the Crostini which was very good.  The salad had fresh crisp greens but the house dressing was very vinegary. Recommend getting a different dressing.  My wife had the shrimp and crab cakes.  The roasted vegetables served with it were excellent.  Crab cakes were good sized but average in taste.  They were supposed to be served with capers, lemon, and butter but there wasn't a hint of lemon in the dish.  I had the Risotto Pescatore.  Decent risotto but a little short on the seafood in it.  3 small oysters, 3 shrimp, and 3 small scallops.  The Alfredo sauce was a little thin but acceptable. Hard to find halfway decent Italian food here in Williamsbrg.  Don't understand why everyone raves about Maurizios as we have tried it. O less tha 4 times and I would say that Tuscany outshined it by a landslide. My wife and I and another couple ventured out to see and we were pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere. A hidden Gem!!! Right next to where we are staying how lucky can we be. After a long drive here we walked over to have dinner and got one of the two tables they had left open. In a strip mall but once you walk inside you would never dream you were in a strip mall very nice and elegant. We ordered an appetizer to start with Bruschetta it was the Best Bruschetta I have ever had so delicious. We ordered our entrees both of us ordered Pasta dishes my husbands had Salmon my Pasta dish had Chicken and Sausage and mushrooms both were delicious both Pasta dishes come with a salad and garlic bread all bread in baked fresh and boy you can sure taste that it is fresh my husband doesn't like butter so they made a basket for him with no butter. Looking for Italian here ... many options. Wanted veal parmigiana, so went here for lunch. A little more expensive for lunch menu, but food was good. The veal was good, but the water from the linguini leaked over and made the veal a little soggy, but still good. My wife liked her crab cake risotto, but said the risotto needed more flavor(mushrooms or something).  The garlic knots weren't the best I've had, but still good. The place a bit difficult to find since the roads on both the sides of the mall where the restaurant was present is under construction. There wasn't enough light where hoarding was, so it took additional time finding the place. We were in a really good mood being on vacation and really hoping for a nice experience at this place. Honestly had high expectations. So, the service was really really good. Drinks were nice. BUT the food tasted sub par. I wasn't expecting a super authentic Italian experience but was hoping it to be atleast better than Olive Garden. But no, it wasn't even close.
