Services

My approach to therapy is rooted in the belief that counseling is a collaborative process toward change that can be successful with your hard work, input and courage. Our relationship will assist you in acquiring the skills necessary to explore yourself and achieve the goals that you strive to attain.

Focus on Identity and Acceptance of Self:
I like to help individuals who are looking to develop and maintain a stable sense of who they are; cultivating your identity and self-esteem while staying attuned to your truest beliefs. This often involves understanding how past experiences have shaped the way we view ourselves and relate to others.

Mood Imbalance and Anxiety:
Have you ever been called “sensitive”? Is it sometimes hard to deal with the intensity of your feelings? Struggling with mood or high emotions and anxiety can be a very difficult, isolating process. In addition to “talk therapy”, I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which looks at the interaction between feelings, thoughts and behaviors; and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), which is similar to CBT but works especially well with emotional vulnerability. These interventions are proven to be effective with mood disorders and anxiety and can provide some concrete skills to lessen the impact of these issues on your life.

Life Transitions and Adjustments:
Change is really difficult! Even if changes are positive they are often uncomfortable and we naturally resist them. We can explore what thoughts or beliefs may be keeping you “stuck” in patterns that no longer feel positive or like they’re working for you.

Relationships:
Relationships are some of the most difficult things that we do as humans, and this is also where we develop our sense of who we are and whether that feels good and authentic, or painful and anxiety-provoking. If you are struggling with finding a voice or space for yourself in your relationships, feeling seen and heard, or being able to attach and trust, we can work together to improve your sense of self and overall satisfaction within your relationships.

Neurofeedback training can be a compliment to traditional talk therapy. It is drug-free, non-invasive treatment option that trains people to regulate their brain wave activity. Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback (the process of gaining greater awareness of many physiological functions of one’s own body) that uses direct information from the brain and a system of reward to train the brain to generate more of the desired frequencies and less of others. It targets the underlying brain dysregulation associated with your health concerns so that you may experience better control of your behavior, a decrease in problematic symptoms, and enhancement of performance in work or school.
