My pup and I have taken 2 courses and done the service dog eval with Lisa at Trick Dog U. Our experience has been great. The drop in class was awesome as we had our time to complete the course but she always made sure to focus on what each student needed and meet them where they were at. The advanced class has been a lot of fun as it brings you to the real world - it is held at a park - and you really get to see how much your dog has learned and what they need to work on in a more real world environment. I was fortunate to be connected with K9 Heroes for Our Heroes whom directed me to (drumroll) LISA! !!Lisa invited me and my 5 month old female German Shepherd to her facility. She observed her behaviors and began developing the best plan for my puppy. It will be approximately 2 years before my puppy completes the required training to become a Service Dog. I am in awe at the knowledge Lisa has to share. Her training is often observed as interaction with the animal, when in fact, I can say I learn everyday when I am in class with her. I am very impressed by the skill and professionalism of this trainer. She assessed my dog's needs in advance and placed her in the correct class, the socialization for reactive dogs. She is teaching me games and strategies for diverting my dog's attention in positive ways and has carefully implemented strategies for safely and gradually exposing my dogs to other dogs.We have taken two classes so far and already I have noticed a positive difference in my dog AND me. Lisa is an amazing trainer! She works well with people of all types and dogs too. I had the pleasure of working with her as my mentor/trainer during my Externship for Animal Behavior College to become a Certified Dog Trainer. Like most pet owners, we look to the reviews to help us make an educated decision about  businesses. These reviews help us to hopefully guide us in the right direction to make the right choices. Several years ago we moved to the area. Our springer was a year old and needed training for socialization and behavior. We found a trainer( with 5 star reviews) in the local area, met with her and felt confident that we had done the right thing for our fur baby. She was not licensed or certified, but surely all these people who put in reviews felt she was a great trainer. Like most dog owners, we knew nothing about professional dog training, so we felt good about our decision. We used this trainer for about 9 months. When we picked up our baby, he was exhausted from playing and walking. We thought that the exercise was great for him and he loved other dogs. We started to worry just a bit as he was not listening as well to us as he did before and he couldn't settle into his routine at home. All he wanted to do was sleep when he got home. We thought maybe it was something we were doing wrong. As the months passed, we decided to get another springer. Our little girl was just a puppy. We decided to start young with her training, so off to the same trainer we go. After several weeks of the so called training, when we picked her up she was so exhausted, she would fall asleep in her food bowl and not enough energy to jump on the couch. We took her to the vet because we thought something was wrong. The vet said puppies need down time to rest so they can grow. Running her all day with no routine is not a good thing. You need to stop. So..running the dogs into exhaustion is not training!! Driving them all over Pasco County in a vehicle is not training! As we looked closer at her web site, we noticed some of the dogs she was training, had on shock collars. Our bad. Why didn't we notice this before? Our new quest was to find a REAL trainer that is licensed and certified. That's when we found LIsa's web site. We set up an in home appointment. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! She is amazing!! Her knowledge, her body movement and even her eye contact with our younger springer (who is leery of people), licked her hand and let her have a petting session. You knew immediately, that she knows her stuff. She was telling us info about dogs we never knew. Folks, if you want a doggie sitter, they are a dime a dozen. Highly recommend Lisa, she helped me to understand why my dog was leash reactive and helped me correct the problem, she also taught my dog to use my treadmill which is fabulous when I get home from a long day of work and am too tired to walk Bella.

When we decided it was time to finalize Jett's training for Service Animal, Ann Ross told us to go talk with Lisa. After an unreal evaluation, Lisa said to actively train him with a new vest and be ready in a couple weeks. Yesterday was his public eval, and he did great.

Lisa worked with me and my pup, showed us that we really COULD get over 'leash reactivity' and even got Buddy to walk on a BALANCE BEAM, something I would never have even thought of trying! She was the catalyst to get me going with teaching Buddy numerous tricks which I had never done with any dog before. Trick Dog U was recommended by my veterinarian when I got Dylan, my 10 week old puppy. The obedience training we receive is excellent & enabled Dylan to get his AKC Canine Good Citizen Title certificate when he was

Lisa has helped me tremendously with my "triggered" pitbull.. He was a resident at the Pasco county animal shelter for some time and made the euth list, but he's home now safe and happy. . He has alot of fears and anxiety and Lisa knew exactly what to do to help me help my Cole aka Swiss.. she definitely knows what she is doing and I can't thank her enough for the tools she's given me.. Found Trick Dog U, K9 Academy when looking for basic obedience training for my then 6 month old puppy. We took the class and I was hooked, I love the method of training no force everything is positive making the class fun. Both handler and dog are important, and Lisa makes sure both are comfortable with the training. If a dog doesn’t take to a certain method of training Lisa will work on an alternative method that brings the desired results she doesn’t give up. I currently have 2 young dogs taking classes at Trick Dog U, 1 has been taking classes for the past 7 months, has earned his CGCA, Novice Trick Dog certificate and is currently taking Novice Dog Parkour. My other dog is currently getting ready to test for her CGC. I can’t possibility say enough, the programs offered promote positive training and bonding with your dog. Lisa and her team are amazing. I recently got a Scottish Terrier puppy. She was just 3 months old when we started and we have completed our first puppy training class. Trick Dog (aka Lisa and her team ) gave me a lot of helpful tools in training Piper. Piper was even excited to go to classes. I met Lisa when I needed help working my reactive dog through a hard move to a new environment. She was reactive to other dogs within our neighborhood and generally very anxious and worried in our new neighborhood. We learned management skills for her behaviors and methods of modification to help her improve behaviorally. We've had the opportunity to boost our girl's confidence with trick training and freestyle and I continue to keep her in classes (even though group classes seemed unattainable at one time for my reactive pup) and we always have an outlet for her to continue learning and working. I have been working with Lisa for the last couple of weeks with my two dogs, Cassie (lab mix) and Chloe (pitbull and boxer mix) on basic obedience/manners and I have already noticed a big difference in both of their behavior! My dog, Cassie is only a year old and still very much a puppy and I recently adopted Chloe with PCAS several months ago. Although Chloe was very tolerant of Cassie's constant roughhousing, I wanted to nip it in the bud before it became an issue and Lisa has given me a lot of great tools to teach Cassie (and Chloe too!) better manners. " Trick Dog U K9 " have an amazing team of instructors. I have been working with them for several weeks and the difference in my dog is beyond my expectations could have imagined. If I could rate them higher I would. They put the needs of your pet first. The dog I have adopted was a dog too afraid of people for adoption. I worked with another trainer previously who wasn't certified for my dog to get her Good Canine Citizen certification. My ultimate goal is for my dog to become a Therapy Dog. The other trainer passed my dog yet she still had issues with seperation anxiety and over excitement.
I found Lisa and went for my free evaluation on my dog. Immediately Lisa was able to spot some of the issues with my dog. After talking with her, I signed up for a private session. I saw results with my dog right away. We did one more private session at my request. After that my dog and I joined one of Lisa's Trick classes to help build my dog's confidence.
We have only been working with Lisa for a short time and there is a big difference in my dog. We have my dog doing things I never thought possible(going on a wobble board, going up & down on the tumble board, pushing carts, etc).
It is such a pleasure to work with someone who actually knows what they are doing. I get my questions answered with knowledge and experience, not just a guess or an "I don't know" like the other trainer did.
Lisa is able to read my dog's actions and reactions and tell me how to counter act them. She can explain cause, effect and resolution to my dog's behaviors. Why the dog does it, what it means and how to correct or handle it.
Anytime I've contacted Lisa, she responds back. Even during Thanksgiving Holiday and I was experiencing issues with my dog while camping with the family. She took the time out from her holiday to help me through it.
I highly recommend Lisa and Trick U Dog K9 Academy. You won't be disappointed. In just the few short weeks, it has helped my dog and me make big strides towards our goal of becoming Therapy Dog certified.
Not only is Lisa certified, she maintains her certifications by taking continuing education courses to keep up on the latest techniques and animal behavioral studies. More...
