I am a certified exercise physiologist with a Bachelor’s in health and human performance: Exercise Science.
My training business, ‘Training With Garrett’, offers in-person training, and exercise programming. I mainly help clients lose weight, gain muscle, train for an event, train for a sport, manage cholesterol and diabetes, and also establish a lifelong habit with fitness!

Garrett is AWESOME! He is very knowledgeable when it comes to how your body works and works with you on any limitations you may have. He is great with kids as well. My 13 & 16 year old work out with Garrett as well. We’ve made it a family affair! We work out in Hudson and we love the small initiate atmosphere. It is usually just us, but if there are other people, it’s just one other trainer and their client. It certainly takes the intimidation out of weight training around a lot of people if you are new to it. If you’re looking for someone who can whip you into shape, Garrett is your man! More...

Garrett was professional, friendly, listened to my workout goals and made our visits fun and informative. He is easy to talk to, knowledgeable, non-judgemental and supportive. Garrett is a very knowledgeable, caring and motivating trainer! He meets you where you are and comes up with the right custom program for you. Training sessions are varied enough to keep them interesting, and Garrett is friendly and engaging, so time really flies. It’s like having your own personal cheerleader, who also sets up the equipment for you. Sounds like a luxury, and it feels like it, too… but having a trainer like Garrett is really one of the most valuable and loving acts of self care you can do for yourself! Garrett is a great trainer. He understands my goals and we have been training methodically to achieve them. He is the only trainer that I know that has a good knowledge of my medical concerns and he researches how best to augment our training sessions with my history in mind. I use science backed theories of exercise physiology to help us hone in on your goals, and tailor the training to what you like to do, what you want to learn, and how hard you want to push.

Consistency in all facets. Diet, Exercise, Patience. It's not just one good week, or one good month of eating healthy and exercising. It's usually a 6+month process, but it is widely different from person to person based on their goals and their time-span.

I love being able to make genuine connections to others. I really enjoy learning about my clients and developing friendships, while putting in great work and seeing progress not only physically, but mentally as well. I enjoy helping my clients build confidence in their abilities, and that seems to help them in everyday tasks in life.

My dad passed away when I was 20yrs old (sophomore in college) due to worsening health issues. When he was laid off from his job at the end of my freshman year of college, he started putting on a lot of unwanted weight, became very sedentary, lost confidence in his abilities, and he started to become a shell of who he was. I wasn't far enough into my coursework for exercise physiology to help him in the position he was at, and as I became more aware of physiology after his passing, it made me realize that there are so many people in his shoes, or somewhere along the path he was taking. I want to help those people. I want to improve people's quality and length of life through exercise and better health behaviors. Had I known then, what I know now, I feel like I could have advocated more for him and been someone he could have relied on. I feel like I let him down and I did not do enough for him. this is the fire that keeps me driven to help others.

I wanted to start my own business with my own model of how to run it. No corporate gyms feeding off insecurities to sell training packages, no selling incentives, no pressure to fold on my morals and character in order to make a sale. Treating people how they should be treated and giving them the tools to uncover their abilities that they've had all along. Helping my clients achieve a level of confidence where they don't need me anymore because they've got their life-long health habit cemented into their lives is my ultimate goal.

Yes I can. I pay for an app called "truecoach" that allows me to program exercise routines for people online, as well as chat with them. It also gives me the ability to tag on videos for references for each exercise

1-hr In-person sessions based out of Hudson & River Falls Wisconsin. Training takes place at River City Ironworx, 264 Troy St. River falls Wisconsin

1-hr live online training through zoom. Using yourself and the equipment you already have, I take you through training sessions that are relative to your ability! We establish a base, and progress from there.

I use an app called truecoach to send you workouts by the month. Through the app we have full dialogue and have contact availability with me anytime you need! All programming is tailored to your goals, and it is all based on what you like to do, and what you are capable to do.
