Will with Traction Dog Training came to our house to help us with leash reactivity for our rescue. It got to the point that it was stressful taking a walk because she lunged, and barked at other dogs. Will is wonderful, patient but firm. He was able to determine the cause of her lunging and gave us the tools to help us with Rosie. She’s much better, both her and I are happier. Will is accessible to us after training is over, and always has pointers and suggestions. I definitely recommend Traction Dog Training. More...

What do you love most about your job?
I love seeing the emotion and disbelief when people learn to build the relationship and communication with their dog they didn't think was possible.
I love seeing people starting training with the goal of basic obedience, or even severe behavior modification, and ending a program by enrolling in training for sports and competition!
I love seeing new people become a long-term part of a community.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I started the Traction Dog Training Club to fill a lack of professionalism and customization within the industry. There are too many people trying to recover from bad experiences with trainers who were unreliable, unknowledgeable, and unprofessional.
I also wanted to offer a new kind of training program that would be more effective than a standard private lesson model or board-and-train model. Instead of either the owner doing all the training or the trainer doing all the training, we provide the best of both worlds in a way that is far more effective and convenient for dog and owner. Our trainers come to your home to train your dog on some days, and on others come to your home to teach you about building expectations and understanding with your dog.

Our trainers are excellent communicators (with people AND dogs!), considerate of their professional and personal relationship with your family, clear about our processes and expectations, and 110% here for you as a team if you feel overwhelmed or frustrated at the beginning of training.

Private In-Home Lessons
Individual private coaching sessions with the owners.
Best for people who want training touch-ups or have some training experience.
Not available for off leash or behavior training.
$160 each, a la carte.
Tutoring Program
4 week program with one 1:1 training session and one coaching session with the owner(s) each week.
Includes intial in-person consultation.
Best for people who want to be hands-on in achieving results. Homework is required.
$1440, includes access to Continued Education programs (boarding program, extracurricular group classes, and more).
Homeschool Program
3 week program with four 1:1 training sessions and one coaching session with the owner(s) each week.
Includes 2 free follow-up sessions & priority access to Petsitting and After-School programs.
Best for people who want superior results or have busy schedules.
$2400, includes priority access to Continued Education programs (boarding program, extracurricular group classes, and more).
Varsity Subscription
Subscribe to one monthly lesson with your trainer in Boulder to continue making tweaks, advancements and improvements, or simply to make sure training never slips up.
This gives you access to all Continued Education programs.
Sampler Course
This is a 6-week group class available only to dogs who have completed basic obedience or other training with us.
Learn about and try your paws at agility, rally obedience, nosework, CGC and therapy dog certification, trick training, and disc.
Petsitting Program
Board your dogs in a Traction Dog Trainer's private Colorado home as the only extra guest. Keep training consistent even while you're away.
