Full disclosure, I am really bad at leaving reviews for anything, and literally created a Yelp account for this experience lol. I can't seem to upload my hair pics for this review, but my profile pics here are from right after having my hair done at Toushe!Without keeping it too wordy, my hair was fried, uneven, breaking and I couldn't grow it out properly. I looked into getting tape-in extensions because they came highly recommenced by several Salons and clients for not causing damage and actually allowing natural hair to grow. As hesitant as I was, after doing some pretty extensive homework and having a couple of bad previous experiences with so-called extension specialists, I gave it a go with Maggie (and the rest of the awesome crew). The consult was brief but she was super confident after taking a quick look at my hair, and she reassured me that it would indeed see another day being worn down freely...*This is a luxury only girls with heavily damaged or processed hair will understand!She did not try and sell me a million products, or push for treatments I don't need, which is big deal because hair extensions themselves and having them applied, is expensive, even before any cut or color or anything. The job she (they) did and how seamlessly she was able to blend my uneven hair into the extensions was incredibly comforting. It was reasonably priced, took way less time than I thought it would, and honestly, I look good as hell. They feel natural, have barely any weight and when properly taken care of will last a very long time. Last thing I will mention is the salon itself: very warm and friendly, great little area in Bay Ridge (2 blocks from my house luckily), and not pretentious. They seem to have a tight knit environment so it's very laid back. She also does great color an cut in general, so even if extensions are not your thing, it's worth walking in and seeing what she can do for you :) More...

Stop scrolling and read my review because I am the pickiest person you will come across and I'm never satisfied or content. I have instagram/pinterest standards. lol. Hi So a little backstory - I had jet black box dyed hair for years and a few months ago decided I wanted to go lighter. I had that entire process done at another salon for around $500.00. I left with broken damaged hair. The stylist had me walk out of the salon with olaplex still in my hair because he knew he fried it. My entire crown area was up to my eyebrows! As you can imagine, I was mortified. I tried getting extensions that matched my blondish hair to have them installed and hide the damage. the stylist who I then went to for those extensions didn't give me a good consult or any useful  information/ advice. She just butchered the expensive extensions rather than telling me she couldn't work with extensions in the first place. Again, I wasted money. At that point I had spent around 1k on my hair. I then gave up and wore hats for a few months. After a while, I decided to go back to dark hair. Once dark again, I was inspired to try extensions again. So i decided to really research salons and this salon came up. So I called with low hopes. My salon experience- I booked my appt with Maggie. First, she is extremely kind and has a positive aura. The salon itself has a very laid back and happy atmosphere which is nice as not all hair salons are welcoming and laid back. When you're in her chair she's very honest with you and isn't willing to break your hair or have you waste your money for your unrealistic expectation. She doesn't just say yes to anything you want. She will however give you info and advice on the best option for you. She gives honest true consultations with a lot of information. So she told me what she thought was best for me which was tape in extensions and keratin on the broken pieces on the crown of my hair only. It sounded good to me so I booked the appt. She doesn't charge an arm and a leg for the hair itself, application, and styling so that's great. She applied the extensions like the pro that she is. I'm pretty sure she can do it with her eyes closed. They're undetectable in my hair and I personally do not feel them in my hair at all. No pain or discomfort. She also orders a perfect color for you. again, like a pro. She cuts them perfectly and knows what to do to blend them into your hair and make it look seamless. My keratin was done by Massimo and was also done very nicely. My eyes didn't burn and my scalp didn't get itchy as I've had happen with previous chemical treatments. Listen, I've tried severalllll salons in Bay Ridge for all kinds of different services who charged more than this salon and none of those salons results came close to the services I had done here. I can actually take off my hat!!! Are u kidding? unbelievable. Ive only tried tape ins and a keratin with them so that's what i'm speaking on. I recommend a consult with Maggie. She's truly an angel. Came here  Today for the first time after a few years of always passing it and it will now be the only salon I ever step foot in! The most friendly personable experience. I've been coming to this place for a year now. I normally receive keratin treatments by Matthew and color cuts by Maggie. I love the quality of the materials used, professionalism of both stylists and the welcoming environment. I highly recommend this place.

The best of the best. It is so hard to find a good hair salon in bay ridge  but I am so glad I found Toushe  hair studio. Maggie the owner and her magical hands did an amazing job to my hair . I came to Toushe for a Keratin treatment and found so much more. Matt and Maggie are wonderful stylists. My Keratin treatment looks beautiful. Smooth, shiny, with volume. While I was hesitant to go for a smoothing treatment, Matt reassured my that he could maintain the volume of my natural hair. While I was there I was able to see balayage white and highlights in the works. Every client leaves with beautiful color. I will definitely be returning soon! More...

The owners, Matt(I believe) and Maggie truly care about their customers. Went in to wrong a right and they were more than accommodating, friendly, and passionate about what they do and how their customers feel. My hair is very thick/curly/frizzy and bottom heavy, it's hard to layer correctly. Maggie cut my hair, and she did a great job with my layers. Hair not only looks nice, feels nice and bouncy. Once again Maggie and her magical hands created a miracle. Please please please if you love your hair and want to go to someone who actually cares for your hair and not just taking your money look no further. I moved away and tried someone new one time and that's all it took for my hair to pay the price.  But once again Maggie and her magic hands  have saved me. Her and her team are the best. BEST SALON EVER! Let me start off by saying that I have been to multiple top expensive salons in Bay Ridge / Dyker, including Pilo Arts and Da Noi, Salon Malave. This salon is the very best in every way and is actually cheaper than those other places. I called randomly and spur of the moment. They took me in one hour. Maggie and her staff are very professional and kind. They are personable and listen to your requests, concerns. They answer your questions and are patient. Maggie's color skills are off the chain! My hair used to be dyed black for many years. Over time it was able to get to blonde but a yellow brassy blonde. Maggie got me really blonde, a beautiful blonde, if I may say so myself. The other girl was very sweet. Gave me a great wash, cut and blow. She listened to me and didn't cut too much. She brushed my hair out gently. My hair gets super tangled. Other salons rip the hair out of my head to get the knots out. She took her time and asked me to tell her if she hurt me. Took her time to be gentle and didn't burn me with the blow dryer. I asked Maggie if I needed toner and she said no. She will not charge you for services that you don't need. They are honest. Oh and they have drinks as well. I was very hesitant to getting hair extensions due to a bad past experience. When I met with Maggie she made the entire process comfortable and safe. Salon is not fancy but cute and has plenty of nice natural light. I  had a Keratin treatment done yesterday I found on groupon. I was late but called the owner and she was accommodating. The owner did the beginning process spraying the keratin in my hair and Mathew did the actual straightening with flat iron he was nice and efficient. Today is muggy humid and my hair is pin straight. I got my keratin treatment done here and you will get your money's worth. I have curly, frizzy hair that is hard to straighten. I was through with constantly having to deal with my hair - whether it was natural or straight, my hair wasn't the beautiful flowy locks that I wanted. Finally I came in to do the 4-day treatment and I am blown away. My usually curly bundled mass atop my head has transformed into soft silky beach waves. I found Toushe while searching for salons that offer keratin at a reasonable price in Bayridge. I'm so happy that I did! Matthew did an amazing job with my four day keratin. I've gotten keratin several times in different salons and this is by far the best. My hair is so smooth and looks so healthy, plus it's seriously cut down the amount of time it takes for me to do my hair.  While I was getting keratin, I spoke to Maggie about my hair color which was done at another salon.  She knew I did not love the color and she recommended I come back for a baylage to take out the brassy tones in my hair.  I am absolutely in love with my new color! I used a groupon for a full head of highlights and a haircut.  I was a little skeptical because it was so cheap but the YELP reviews were all so good I figured I'd check it out. I was pleasantly surprised.  I have thick curly hair - and a lot of it.  I was getting the highlights to hide all the grey/white hair i have (it doesn't grow in from the roots - just lots of grey strays).  Marinella suggested I a half head with more highlights and it looks great.  I have been getting highlights forever and it wasn't really covering up the greys.  Everyone at the salon was super friendly.  I will definately be back for keratin. I'm more of a food critic really but my experience at Toushe Studio was so amazing that I just had to give them a shout out. First, I live in Manhattan so this salon isn't exactly in my backyard but it is an easy commute and definitely worth the travel time. Matthew and his crew are so personable and professional. After only a few visits I already feel like family. The salon provides great services at a reasonable price. I've never left without being completely satisfied.  If you need a new look or are just not getting the attention you need from your current stylist, give Toushe Studio a try. I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror because my hair just looked like it had no color, shape, or style.  Would spend some money for services and overall was just not happy.   Did my investigation with other places in this area and toushe had the best of the best in the blonde category.  Called on a tuesday and got the same day appointment.  Maggie who is the owner was very accomidating and knows how to make a complete stranger feel very welcomed.  Awesome color and toner and will be going back. I have recently moved into the neighborhood and was looking for a good place to get my hair done locally.  In researching the salons in my neighborhood, I had found the Tousche Hair Salon.  I called and made an appointment for next week without any problem  Upon arriving, I was greeted by Maggie, Marinela and Matthew.  All of them were extremely nice and genuine.  My appointment was for a full head of highlights, a haircut and style. I must mention that I have a LOT of hair and it usually takes HOURS for me to get a full head of highlights.  When Maggies got to work on my hair, she assured me that I will be done with the highlights, cut and style within 2 hours.... I was excited, but a bit skeptical... it always takes at least three hours... but ok... what do I have to lose, right?.... Well.... she wasn't kidding!!! She did exactly what she promised and my hair turned out beautiful.  I love my hair and have received a lot of compliments.  Thank you ladies.  I also would like to mention that Marinela is simply a gem, she definitely knows what she's doing.I will be back in a couple of months! I had been meaning to get my haircut for forever but truth is I often find myself not liking the experience very much so I delay. Today I decided to just do it! A jump from below shoulder blades to above chin. I was slightly nervous because the reviews were mostly about treatments and coloring and I just needed a good styling. Well styling is great here too! I had a picture and Maggie walked me through things that she wanted to do a bit differently and why. YES I love it when the professional takes charge instead of asking me exactly what I want.
