On a Friday afternoon at around 3:30 PM in Mountain View, there aren't many choices for authentic Thai food driving down El Camino. Luckily for our trio, Tommy Thai was open for business! The interior is nice and cozy, and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Since it was our first time here, we wanted to sample as many dishes as we could handle. Here is the line-up:* Fresh Rolls w/Shrimp* Crab Fried Rice* Pad Thai w/Shrimp* Panang Chicken* Rock Cod* Prik Khing Green Beans* Sweet Sticky Rice with MangoThe Fresh Rolls were like mini shrimp burritos and was a great app to set the stage. We dug into the tasty Crab Fried Rice and poured some of the Panang Chicken curry sauce over it. The Rock Cod was cooked perfectly and seasoned very well. The green beans were tasty and the Pad Thai was a little saucier than I am used to. Overall, everything packed great flavor and hit the spot. Our only complaint was our dessert. The sweet sticky rice was not very sweet and sticky, and the mangoes were just a little too tart. That aside, it was definitely worth the visit! More...

I've only gotten their takeout a few times, so this review is based only on their food and not the dine-in experience. The food here is great - I've ordered for a large group and everyone really enjoyed the food. Their portion size is decent and you don't feel like they're skimping out on you. We've gotten the green curry, Panang curry, pad se ew, pad Thai, and whole steamed sea bass. Every dish was delish! I highly recommend the food here if you're looking for some good Thai. The takeout order was prepared quickly and ample parking to pick up. More...

Went there for our team’s intern farewell lunch and I was surprised by how good the food is. We went in a group of 16 including vegetarians. For appetizers, we ordered hot wings, roti, octopus ring and spring rolls. For entries, we ordered green curry, red curry, pineapple curry, Malaysian curry, Pad Thai and etc. From my personal taste, I think green curry with duck or mix seafood with spicy level 7 is just perfect. The green curry has a strong coconut milk flavor. I think it is best to accompany with coconut sticky rice. You can choose between spicy level 1-10 and anything below 5 is almost not spicy at all and above 8 is really hot. Good food, good price, generous amount, would definitely come back often. More...

The to go service was good. The food was tasty. We kept the spice level down because one of the diners was a nursing mother. It was prepared exactly to our specifications. We got the panang curry with beef, medium spicy. It was very tasty. The lad na noodles with seafood was also good. All of the shrimp and seafood was fresh and tasty. I over bought for our group, but we enjoyed the leftovers the next day. I will return next time I visit the area. More...

I stopped at Tommy Thai again. This is my 3rd review of 2019 and my 9th review since 2017. On my mission to try just about they have on the restaurant's menu, this time I stopped for lunch on the 20th of October with my girlfriend, I shared a Snapple bottle with mango for $3 and a roti (07) for $10. For myself, I ordered pad curry (N6) with vegetables ($16+$0). The drink arrived right away. I suspect just about everybody has tried Snapple drinks and they are familiar with their flavor which is sweet, refreshing and hard to beat. The roti arrived and it was very good although somewhat overpriced. It was accompanied by an orange-color dip which was spicy. I liked it and I could eat 100 of those things. The pad curry followed and it was a very generous portion of pan-fried flat noodles with curry, yellow onions, broccoli, carrots, eggs and zucchini (watch out: the menu says zuccini so ask for the real thing). The dish was good and filling. Due to the size of the meal I ended up eating 2/3 of it and taking the rest out with me. This restaurant hardly ever disappoints me and the food is consistently tasty. The dishes are priced around $15-20 but the money is well spent. This restaurant is typically quiet and it's nice to eat inside although, occasionally you will come across a group of loud clowns like the 4 Indian people that camped in the restaurant before and after we left when I last visited. Wanted some VEGAN curry soup and came across this awesome place. I ordered the Tom Kha Soup (with vegetables) at a 7 heat level (spicy). My soup satisfied to the fullest the flavor was on point and serving was well enough to keep me happy for lunch tomorrow. SO GLAD they offer vegan options! More restaurants need to follow suit! This place is amazing! Â We had the green curry and the eggplant with basil. Â The vegetables were very fresh and the rock cod was delicious and tender. Â It's slightly more expensive than other Thai places (our bill was $56 for two people including tip and tax), but totally worth it.We've also ordered wings from this place on Uber Eats (it's called "Tommy's Wings" on Uber Eats), and those are pretty great too. Â I love the green sauce you can get on the side, it reminds me of the sauce at Cheeseboard Pizza in Berkeley. The portions here are generous, so three people could probably split two entrees. Â The service was pretty quick and the restaurant was fairly empty on a Tuesday evening. More...

We celebrated my brother's birthday this evening. It is a small restaurant and our party took up most of the space. The food was good and service spectacular despite the fact that we were a bit noisy and moving around a lot to visit with family and friends. The waitress even brought out a clean table cover before bringing our cake to the table, so we would have nicer photos without messy table. What a special touch. My guess is that this is a family run business and they treated us as special guests. Thank you! More...

I had dinner here on the 29th of August. This time I ordered a Thai ice tea for $5 and Burmese flat noodles (N9) with shrimp for $16+2. The Thai ice tea was great, sweet, smooth and intense in flavor. I love the way they prepare it. The dish of noodles was good and very abundant. The noodled were were tasty. The sauce they prepared must have contained black pepper or something similar to that because the noodles were bold and intense in flavor. The dish also included a small amount of vegetables, primarily onions, carrots and broccoli. It also contained eggs. The dish was very filling and I could not finish all of it. The shrimps tasted good and fresh. More...

Tommy Thai is my #1 UberEats choice when I'm staying in the South Bay, hungry, but too lazy to leave my girlfriends house to go get food. Their chicken wings are crispy and tasty. The wet garlicky sauce that it comes with is bone sucking good! They have an extensive menu, with a separate Thai and Laotian menu so for someone as indecisive as me, I literally spent 25 minutes thinking about what I wanted to order.Their duck curry was good. The spiciness is definitely evident in their foods if you request for it. The food is quick and fast, portions are decent so it's better shared. More...

Not a fancy place but the food is nice. Will come back. Ordered Asparagus Basil with chicken (T6), the waitress asked me what kind of rice do I want, I asked how big is the serving size, do I need a rice on the side? She repeated her question. I said: No rice! And I was right. You don't really need a side, portions are quite big. More...

This is my 7th review of Tommy Thai and the 1st of 2019. This time I visited for dinner and it was on the 4th of June. I ordered Pad rad hna (N11) for $17 and Thai iced tea (B1) for $5. The drink came first and it was excellent as usual: sweet, cold and refreshing. The food took about 5 minutes to prepare. When it arrived, it was a generous portion of flat noodles with shrimp, broccoli, carrots, eggs and thick gravy. It was a good dish, not the best I ever had at Tommy Thai but a good one. My girlfriend ordered house fried rice (F2) for $16. As usual, the fried rice was magic: I cannot believe that dish can be so good. We always fall for it and I don't understand what they put in it to make it taste so good. The food here is very good and we come often. I see the prices of dishes increase. Meals are getting expensive and the drinks too. Whether the food is truly Thai/Cambodian, that I don't know since I do not have friends from Thailand or Cambodia that could tell me. More...

Today, I decided to order Tommy Thai for myself and a colleague, Armando Robles. We ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and the Basil Dish with the chicken and shrimp combo supplement. Both dishes turned out to be fantastic and flavorful! After our meals, Armando and I came together and reached a consensus about the chicken, which we thought to be tender and well seasoned with each and every piece. We greatly appreciated the craft and care that went into the flavor profile of both dishes. One thing that prevented this meal from achieving five stars was the spice levels within both dishes. Armando's pad thai, which he requested to have the "little spice" level, was very spicy for him. My basil dish, which I requested to have the "spicy" level, was not as spicy as I would have hoped. However, both of us are glad to say that we were able to visit flavor town today as a result of making the decision to eat with Tommy Thai! Thank you, Mr. Tommy Thai, wherever you are. More...
